Chapter 41

Jasmine

They had left.

As they'd told me yesterday, they've moved to the room situated on the other side of the castle— The room was away from all the chambers and it was situated in the quietest area of the palace.

Of course, I was not allowed to go to that room and I knew they'd already informed the guards about it so that I could not barge into their rooms anytime soon and bring risks to my own life.

Although it had not been more than a few minutes since they had left, I was already missing them.

But I have to bear this distance, It was for us.

Maybe it was hard but it was needed.

Sighing I made my way to the balcony, looking at the sky that had been covered by the clouds just in the very first hours of the morning.

A hazy wind was blowing with the silence.

I found myself closing my eyes to enjoy the cold winds brushing past my body, but from the darkness behind my eyelids suddenly the sight of a garden emerged, and the very familiar sight of my supposed mother flashed in front of my eyes.

Peony, Aster, and Lavender, at the corner there remained a bunch of roses and fallen leaves from the trees flew along with the wind that blew just like the one that was blowing now.

"Jasmine, rain can drizzle at any time. Get your ass back here," My mother called out for me as I ran down the big row of stairs within minutes and made my way straight to the garden.

"The garden's looking pretty, mom," I yelled back smiling, and then I took off.

With one run, I had passed the hall and stopped at the green grass of the garden and the sight of the garden itself.

Something about this garden seemed to excite my child self a lot, I could feel the exciting emotion of the little girl I was and her heartbeats increasing as she looked at the scenery that she seemed to love the most.

"Jasmine, you have just recovered from a cold. There's no way for you to get allowed to start with your mischief again." I heard mom's yell and a giggle tore from my lips before I ran further into the huge garden.

"You can't catch me, Mom," As I ran, triumphantly laughing at my short-lasting victory suddenly a pair of arms grabbed me and picked me up.

I heard a very familiar chuckle and my eyes moved to spot the face of my...dad.

"But, your dad can." He smiled smoothing out the frown between my eyebrows with his fingers.

"Thank god, you have come. She has been very difficult to handle the whole day," Mom exhaled walking closer and pinching my cheek with a familiar pout I had on my lips.

"This is not fair! I felt like I am in the prison." I folded my arms over my chest in the sudden anger I felt against my parents.

"And why do you feel like you are in the prison, princess?" Dad asked a small snicker breaking through at the end of his sentence.

"Mom did not let me walk, talk or even play with my ships. She even put me into a strict boring routine. Besides, I am not even allowed to come to the garden. This is so unfair." I exclaimed, my voice getting low at the end.

"But you got sick due to all your harmless activities, so your mom has to take care of you to help you get better and not fall ill once again," Dad said leaning in and placing a kiss on my cheek.

"But she took away my ships," I said glancing at mom and frowning at her which she gladly returned.

"Aren't those the same ships whose rescue made you jump in the fountain and catch a cold due to not caring about the soaked clothes and this pretty hair for hours?"

I nodded at his question, finding no reason to lie.

"So your mom indeed did the right thing, didn't she?" Dad asked, using his soft tone that could melt any kid's grudges and it did work on me just as I had expected whilst I looked through this part of my memory.

And I nodded, once again. Now fidgeting with my fingers at the sudden feeling of guilt.

"So, are you angry with your mom anymore?" Dad asked smiling, probably knowing my answer.

"No." I looked at mom and a smile had taken over her beautiful face already.

"Come here," Mom took me from dad's arms and kissed the top of my head, then the bridge of my nose.

"You are adorable," She placed two more kisses on both of my cheeks.

"So....can I get my ships back?" I asked, hopefully.

Mom glanced at dad and they both exchanged a look before their stares got set on me.

Nervously aired for them to say something with the hope that they'll return the ships that seemed to hold so much importance to me.

"On one condition," Dad said, using a serious tone ad hiding the smile that supposedly fought to show on his lips, "You have to promise us that you'll not repeat what you did last time."

A smile broke on my face and I accepted their demand almost Immediately, "Okay!"

My overly excited tone caused their laughs to break through.

"Now, let's go inside and let me and your mom make your favorite chocolate milkshake for you. How's that?" Dad smiled at me ruffling my hair.

"Let's go!"

A harsh blow of wind caused my eyes to fly open.

All the memories set back in the corner once again and a debated sigh left my mouth.

I could see my parents, I could feel them and these memories that I had not known for years but I did to know if they were alive or not. I did not know how I had ended up with Martha.

I knew I belonged to the Vaidel dynasty but I was not sure about what my identity was.

I did not even know the names of my parents, Now all I knew were their faces and their voice that seemed to soothe my soul.

But I did not know why there was this feeling that was telling me the names of my parents could be what I was thinking about, the clothes I have seen them wearing in these number of flashbacks, them reminding me of the palace and having the aura of rulers did give me an answer that I certainly was not looking forward to at all because...

Despite all these uncertainties, there was still this part of me that wanted to hear that my parents were alive whilst the answer that I always received was a ....No.

Three Days Later.

A knock on the door diverted my mind from distantly looking out of the window, apparently, that was all I was doing nowadays.

Without the vampires around I could not focus on anything else.

Again ever since that one flashback, my mind was going around a loop with no way of breaking through it. I tried to ignore everything and leave the fate but I couldn't.

How could I even depend on the fate that seemed to have more than many mysteries hidden from me till now and still creating one after another load of burden for me?

"Fate." A bitter chuckle slipped past my lips whilst my eyes kept looking at the dark scenery of the night.

My throat dried for the umpteenth time and grabbed the water bottle taking big gulps of the col water that helped in soothing the burning sensation a bit.

The water seemed to be the only thing that got any sort of attention over the past couple of days.

The sound of a knock on the door suddenly rang throughout the room, it was not as though I was unaware of who it could be yet I found myself not wanting to go and open the door.

But I did it anyways— I walked towards the door with steady steps and opened it.

The faces of the two maids who have been routinely delivering my food to my room came into my view— Apparently, the only reason I was even accepting the food from them was that they were told by Archer, Micheal, and Lucien to timely deliver my meals to my room every day.

"Your Majesty, we have brought your dinner." The maids bowed in front of me.

"Thanks, please put them on the table."

The exactly did what I said and left the room soon after. My eyes spotted the items, it had everything I liked just like they have ordered the maids to do before they isolated themselves in that dark room.

A sigh slipped past my lips and I shut the door. I forced myself to walk toward the table and eat something but before my legs could more than two steps once again a knock on the door interrupted the silence.

A strange feeling twisted my gut because of unknown reasons and somehow because of the noticeable loud knock.

Generally, there had been no arrival to my room for the past few days at this hour.

Who could it actually be?

Well...I was not going to get the answer until I opened the door which was the last thing I felt to do right now.
