Chapter 15 Letter

Ava's POV
I basically haven't seen much of Aaron since the last time that happened in the penthouse.
We all seem to know each other and tacitly ignore the fact that he still needs treatment, although someone will come to my room on time to take away the prepared medicine. But this is the ninth day.
When I passed by the study today, he was still not there. Except for one or two familiar faces in the study, I didn't recognize the rest of the people, and the smart-to-be-boring Beta wasn't there either.
Are they up to something new?
By not staying in the study I had one less important source of information and had to turn my attention to something else.
Unfortunately, Blue Moon Pack is still the same as usual, and there are only a few more people coming to play with me. Nothing can be seen.
Adele was the one who came to pick up her medication today. I asked her if Aaron had been so busy lately that he had interrupted his treatment for many days. She replied that she didn't know because she hadn't seen her brother for the past few days.
Except when I'm not there.
I totally understand what she means. She is so ever so sweet and considerate.
"Why do you think Aaron's been avoiding me lately?"
Fog said after a moment of silence. "Maybe it's because you've been too arrogant lately? After all, he's an Alpha."
What bothers me most now is that she uses Alpha as an excuse, as if the answer to all the questions can be attributed to Aaron being an Alpha.
Even if Aaron's illness is not cured one day, she will say "after all, he is an Alpha". But is there any connection between the two?
"I've been so arrogant for more than a day or two now, does he just see it now?" I shook my head, trying to forget that, and went on. "Could he be finding out something?"
Fog said. "Not sure, I've found that Blue Moon Pack's network of connections isn't very strong and they don't even participate in wolf hunts. But Aaron has befriended a lot of people recently and can't rule that out."
This is true. I've also noticed some unfamiliar faces popping up there a lot when I've been in and out of his study lately.
And whether he was there or not, the study was always guarded, so I couldn't find any opportunity to strike.
It seems we have to be careful. It's a good thing he hasn't been moving around lately, except to avoid me.
"We'd better do what we always do, we can't be thieves, or they haven't found out anything, we ourselves are exposed first ......"
I stood up and paced back and forth across the room, thinking about my next plan.
"It's best to have a chance to get into his study and find some lists. That way our side can at least get a general idea of the Blue Moon Pack's combat capabilities."
As soon as I thought of this, I thought of that perfect time I missed last time. "I shouldn't have listened to that werewolf last time and gone to his room, otherwise I would have gotten important information by now!"
And you don't have to see such an embarrassing scene.
"And the last time the magical girl sneaked up on me. I shouldn't have done anything at all! I didn't even know who the other side was before I eradicated a big rival for them and they collapsed in the safe house."
The more I talk, the more annoyed I am, and at this time, Fog is still not dead, as if to deliberately provoke me to say. "So you are not suitable for undercover work, from now on it is better to leave it to the professionals."
I'm really mad at her brain hurts.
"Your so-called professionals is to go to one less one, and in the end nothing to understand or even mixed into the territory of others to run back in the dust." I mocked with disdain.
"Then leave Kate alone to sit outside and think about her Alpha."
Speaking of which I got even more angry. "Aren't any of these Alpha's capable of taking care of their own personal business?"
"I don't understand who you're referring to." Fog said coldly. "Aaron or Carson."
"They're all the same."
For me, there is no such thing as who is better than the other for both of them.
"If Aaron was really as reliable as the rumors suggest, he wouldn't have avoided me for so many days because of the last incident, and even given up on his own treatment altogether in the meantime."
"So all you want to complain about is just the fact that he's avoiding you these days. But Ava."
Fog's tone sounded rare and serious. "If you're just here to gather information to defeat them, what does it matter if he comes to see you or not, or if he receives treatment or not, what does any of that have to do with what you're trying to do?"
"Did you really approach him just to get more information?"
"Sure." I shrugged my shoulders and replied quickly and casually.
I don't actually know.
But I hope so, at least that's what I'm showing now, and that's good enough.
Reader's POV
"Aaron, you should be spending your mind on training right now, not on focusing on a female wolf every day."
Aaron rubbed his brow, moving his gaze from the window to the desk and looking at his fingers. "I didn't fall behind in my training, and as for her ......"
He was silent for a moment. "I've cut back on my time with her."
Rock said with satisfaction. "That's for the best, and I hope you'll keep it up. But I think you'd better not forget what happened once.
After all, it is betrayal that is the sharpest knife for us, and I don't want to be stabbed again."
There was another unbearable silence.
It took a long time before Rock heard him answer in a low voice.
"I won't forget."
Then he shifted his gaze to the library across the window.
He has been sitting here for half an hour today after taking his medication, twenty minutes of which he spent staring at it.
The small building has been there since it was built and few people would go there, either himself or those around him. Their preferred places are the training ground or the gym, and no one would want to sit in a place full of books they can't read and dust all afternoon.
Not to mention that it really isn't a good place to sit and meditate.
Due to the backlighting, various vine plants climb up the window frames, and in just one year without treatment can cover half of the floor windows. Looking out from inside, the light was divided into small, shadowy squares. No matter what time of day it smells damp there, as if with a chill of mossy plants.
In short, no wolf would be there alone for very long.
But she can.
Numerous times Aaron looked up from his paperwork to look out the window at the green mountains and could see a man sitting in the window half covered by plants.
Long red hair, lined with wrists as white as frost and snow, was flipping through a certain unknown book with his head down.
Such a picture was like a painting in the bright green sunlight at two o'clock in the afternoon, making Aaron stare unconsciously at the curve of her jawbone exposed under her hair for a long time.
Then one day after being tortured by the paperwork for a long time, he thought of asking someone to go to the library and get the book she had placed on her desk.
It was a book without a cover, with many ink stains on the second page.
"But your summer will never fade. And the beauty you possess will never falter."
Shakespeare's Sonnets, Sonnet XVIII.
He ran his fingers over the two lines, read them for a long time before closing it and having it sent back.
She also did not seem to notice, the next day still sitting in that place, but the book was never opened ......
Ava's POV
I really like this place, it not only allows me to see Aaron at all times, but it is quiet and never disturbed.
So much so that I can write letters to Bright Moon Pack here with complete confidence.
I glanced out the window and Aaron was out of the office today, as he has been lately at this time of year.
"Dear Kate, how are you doing and is Carson keeping you company?
I'm safe now and have nothing to worry about, except you.
The guys in the Blue Moon Pack all look the same, much like the guys we saw on the Gurmanji side when we were kids, whistling, showing their arms, and liking to fight. But except for that Alpha, I believe no one can beat me so far.
This group of simple-minded, four-legged people, I've never seen anything other than me in the library.
They trust me, so I will take care of everything as soon as possible."
As I was writing this, I noticed that the book under the letterhead was stained with ink.
So I took the blotting paper out and laid it on the table and closed the book.
"Please don't worry, I believe it won't take long for us to be reunited."
"Also, this one below is for Carson, and I hope you will give it to him yourself."
I changed the paper and wrote Carson's name on it.
"Kate has been worried about me lately, you better let her settle down, Blue Moon Pack's Alpha is definitely not some incompetent dumbass, they are expanding fast.
I've noticed he's been befriending a lot of people lately, and I'm not sure he has information about me. And he was once betrayed by his Luna and is still very wary of me. But I believe that his group of men have come to trust me completely.
I don't want you to have any more reasons to neglect Kate, or you'll be waiting for the day when Blue Moon Pack grows!"
I wrapped up with satisfaction, looked through the two brief letters, carefully bound and wrote my name on them, and finally blew my whistle.
It's 230,000 feet from here to Bright Moon Pack, but it doesn't matter, from now on my carrier pigeons will keep flying in their direction moment by moment, and maybe it will only take two days for me to receive a reply.
Fog said with a sultry sigh. "Even so, Kate will be just as worried about you."
I said. "Anyway, we can't let her worry about it, and if Carson dares to bully my sister, I'll rally Aaron to attack Bright Moon right here!"
"That's so childish of you."
I knew of course that these words were meaningless, I was only here to pry information and flinging a guy that guarded obviously wasn't possible.
But Aaron's condition improved quickly, and even with daily medication, he recovered almost faster than I expected.
So much so that I've heard rumors from some people that I've been asked to be Luna in the community.
But Mike told me that no one has yet dared to suggest this to Aaron.
