Chapter 42: Edna
Ava's POV
But life is something that once you start, you can't go back and you can't end.
That's what came to my mind when I stood face to face with Aaron in his office again and couldn't say a word.
He was very surprised to see me.
He seemed to be completely unprepared for me to come to him at this time, and even at first thought it was someone else who opened his mouth and tried to get me out.
But when he saw it was me, I saw the original grumpy and impatient expression on his face instantly disappear and turn into surprise and anticipation.
Such an expression made me feel embarrassed and sad for a moment.
"I've come to give you a psychological evaluation and examination." I said to him dryly, "Do you have time now?"
With the way he was acting right now I didn't think he would not have time.
But he really hesitated and then told me, "You can come later and I'll wait for you in my room."
I couldn't figure out what was going on.
What do you mean wait for me in my room?
"That does sound ambiguous." Misty said approvingly, "But I think he was trying to express that there are more people in the way in the study."
"Good." I looked at him, "You can prepare a little paper and pen, you might need it then."
I was actually tempted to turn him down because I didn't really want to be alone in a room with him, and I was worried that would cause more misunderstandings between us.
Well, actually it was me, I was worried that I would have more misunderstandings, like having some totally unrealistic hopes for him and then being disappointed over and over again.
He smiled, and I suddenly realized that this was the most he had smiled in all the days I had known him, and then I heard him say, "I wanted to give it to you before, but I never got the chance."
He pulled out a quill and handed it over.
"Didn't you say before that Adele broke your pen, and I thought that I should apologize for her."
I don't think I should, and he must have misremembered that I had never told him about Adele breaking my pen, which was probably something Adele herself had told him.
"Thanks." I continued to stare at the pen, which was really a very beautiful feathered pen, I don't know what kind of animal's feathers were used. It looked like it was plated with gold under the light, but in the dark it looked like plain, pure white, "but I already have a new pen."
And also the ones that Adele brought over, and the ones in the box you sent.
"I'm not short of those right now." I told him honestly, "You can give this to Adele, she'll be so happy."
"Adele doesn't need this." Aaron said with a stiff refusal, then changed his tone, "I'll make it for Adele again if she wants it, but this is yours."
I can't believe I made it with my own hands? I felt even more unable to accept it. I was about to keep pushing back when there was a knock on the door outside.
"Please come in." Aaron said after looking at me and clearing his throat as he returned to his desk and sat down.
I had to go ahead and hastily stuff my things into my own coat pocket.
But what surprised us all a bit was that the person who came was looking for me instead of Aaron.
"You're looking for me; why don't you go to my treatment room?" I couldn't quite understand, "Do I spend a lot of time in Aaron's office?"
"No." The person was probably one of the omegas who cleared the garden, and I saw that her cheeks had turned red, but still insisted, "Everyone just said that you should be able to be found here at this time now. I wanted to go to the treatment room, but there was no one there."
I couldn't say anything more, so I asked her, "Is something wrong with your body?"
She nodded, but quickly shook her head again, then looked at Aaron.
I understood and waved my hand at Aaron to indicate that I was going out, and he didn't say anything more, but just gave me a slight nod.
Just as I was about to leave the house, I heard him ask again behind me, "So the treatment tonight?"
I hesitantly looked around me, "It depends, I'll have someone let you know in advance if I'm coming."
I had thought that the person who could come to me in the treatment room and office must be a very urgent patient with some serious problem, but on the way to the treatment room, no matter how much I asked, this person did not say what was wrong with him.
I gradually realized that something was wrong because the path she took me down was not the one to the treatment room at all.
"What the hell is wrong with you." I simply stopped and looked at her, "Or is there something wrong with someone you know?"
Instead, she just stood still and looked at me, not saying a word.
I was starting to feel impatient.
And this way she didn't say a word scared me a little.
"If there's no big problem I'll go first." I deliberately turned around, looking like I didn't want to waste any more time with her, "If something is still wrong you can come to me in the treatment room."
Although it's true that I'm not usually in the treatment room.
Still no answer was given.
I couldn't help but get curious and turn around to look at her, not realizing she was crying.
"What are you crying about?"
I was instantly a little anxious and a little guilty of being a little too cranky: "What exactly is wrong with you say it and I will help you." Don't just cry.
But she still didn't say a word, just more tears flowing.
I really got a little worried and slowly moved up to look at her.
She looked as if she was in her teens, not much older than Adele, her face was dirty, her neck was dirty, and probably because she had to work every day, her clothes were smeared a little black, only one pair of eyes were still so clean and bright.
"Is it inconvenient to say?" I asked her.
Thank God, she finally nodded.
"And you're not comfortable taking me to him either?"
She nodded again.
I seemed to understand a little, but still felt a little strange: "So you wanted to come and ask me for a little medicine?"
She nodded desperately.
"Okay." I wanted to laugh a little, but was even more curious about who this person could be, "Come with me to the treatment room and we'll see what medications you can take with you and use."
I didn't expect a big bag of them.
I was shocked: "Are you sure that person could use that much gauze?"
"Yes." The other person nodded with certainty and said, "Her leg is rotten and full of blood."
I was even more shocked: "Then you hurry up and bring him here for treatment?"
I didn't get an answer, and the other party lowered her head in silence again.
"Never mind." I speculated whether this injured person would be an underground fighter of Blue Moon Pack, because the identity is too special so there is no way to come directly to receive treatment or something.
And from what she said, it sounded like this person was not allowed to go out? And he can't be found by others?
What kind of person is this?
I was guessing wildly while finishing up a big bag of medication for her. By the way, these are the ones Aaron found when he was going to set up the healing room before, as for my own ones, I had almost used them up as early as the last time I was injured myself.
"Anyway, once you find a festering wound or find a way to come to treatment as soon as possible." I finally admonished her, "Otherwise there is a good chance that it will be dangerous because of infection."
She cried and bowed to me, then turned around and left, and I don't know if she listened or not.
After she left I sat in the chair and rested most of the day. I thought it was not too much work, but listening to what she said the man seemed to be very seriously injured, just looking for gauze I moved four or five boxes. After moving is already about seven o'clock.
The sky outside the window is also gradually dimmed down, there is about half an hour night will cover everything.
It should be just the right time to go find Aaron.
I took a lollipop from the treatment room drawer that Adele gave me and unwrapped it and stuffed it in my mouth.
It was strawberry. She liked strawberry, and I happened to like it too. But she liked its taste more, and I liked the color.
The color will keep the person who sees it in a good mood all day long.
I'm in a good mood right now, the early autumn breeze is blowing gently through my hair, and the evening sun in the sky is almost exactly the same color as my lollipop. I think I've rarely had such a leisurely and relaxing time.
Ever since I came to Blue Moon Pack, every day seems to be very busy, although sometimes I don't know what I am busy with. And it's rare that I don't have anything to do and have to avoid everyone to write to Kate and C to report on my work progress.
Occasionally when I go to bed I worry about the fact that someone seems to have inquired about my previous wolf pack today, will he have found out my identity?
But today was a rare day when my mind was free of these messy things.
Maybe it's the fact that I'll be leaving Blue Moon Pack soon that makes me feel less stressed, maybe it's the sweet candy in my mouth, or maybe it's the person I'm going to meet in a little while.
I walked in the evening breeze towards the end of the summer and for the first time I felt that there were good moments in the world, just like that day in the library loft at noon, and they were the most precious memories in my head.
I was in a good mood and I didn't expect anything to happen after that, just like I didn't expect who the omega gang would be that came looking for medicine.
I guess probably no one would have thought of it either.
That would be Edna.
Reader's POV
When Zoe entered the room again with a large bag of drugs and dodged everyone, Edna had passed out again. But she was afraid to wake her up.
She didn't know what to say.
She thought that if she woke up and asked herself where she got these drugs, she might not tell her that she had gone to Bertha, she might say it was from the princess of the Pabu pack.
But Edna would not believe it.
She was so smart.
Zoe's trembling fingers began to apply medicine to her already smelly knee.
She remembered the first time she met Edna, when she was being scolded for breaking a flower pot and no one dared to come to her aid, and then Edna just appeared, laughing and pulling away the man who had scolded her, the son of an Alpha who seemed to be a guest from another pack.
Then they got to know each other. She always knew that she and she were not on the same page, but Edna would still come to her room and bring her some trinkets, sometimes food, sometimes a comb, and sometimes simply a dress.
But there was nothing she could give her.
Then Edna got busy and she didn't see her for a long time.
The last time she saw her Edna wore a blue dress and smiled and said that a very powerful female wolf had recently arrived, but it was okay, she must be better than her.
Zoe knew who she was talking about.
What happened later was known to everyone, Edna set up the clan, no one spoke to her anymore and she was watched over until a guest from the Pabu pack arrived.
Edna disappeared.
