Chapter 25 Secret Base
Ava's POV
As I said to Fog earlier, I did move up a lot after this incident.
I didn't realize this until I was completely healed, because until then I had been in the house. I didn't see anyone except for Adele and Sam who visited me occasionally.
And damn Aaron, he seems to have nothing better to do these days than to go to the study and spend the rest of his time in my room.
At first I was very bored and wary, I always felt as if he had some plan that he was not telling me.
And there is always a Fog in my ear from morning to night endlessly chanting for me to be vigilant and must be careful, as if I will be killed if I am not careful.
It's not that I didn't persuade her, but it just didn't work.
And she also treated Aaron as one of the biggest enemies we've met so far, as if it wasn't the same wolf at all as the one who told me this Alpha was okay before.
"I know he hurt me, but it was just an accident." I said to her again. "Can you just calm down and not put too much pressure on yourself."
"I'm putting pressure on myself?" Fog sounded very emotional. "Am I the one who's stressing myself out? Aren't you the one causing me stress? Aren't you the one causing yourself stress!"
"I didn't." I retorted. "Where on earth did you get the idea that I was stressed."
"Then consider me stressed." Fog started to get angry again. "So can we go now?"
"Even if you can't leave, then can't you tell him not to come back in?"
"It's OK." I said bitterly. "Totally."
The words only just fell, I heard familiar footsteps in the hallway, less than half a minute later came to the door of my room.
"Can I come in?" Aaron knocked gently on the door from outside.
"No way!" Fog continued. "You just said that."
I reassured her. "Yes, yes, I promised you I wouldn't let him in."
"Bertha?" Aaron didn't hear my answer, and his tone began to grow worried. "Are you in there? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." I had to amplify my voice in response to him. "But I'm going to rest now."
Saying that I looked out the window, there was no sunshine, it was a cloudy day, maybe it would rain.
"I'm tired." I said out loud again. "I need to sleep."
The person outside the door was silent for a while and asked carefully again. "Are you really not in any trouble? Do you need the care of others?"
"No need." I told him simply. "I just want to sleep."
This time the other party did not dwell on the issue, and left after giving me the same simple response.
I was a little confused about what he meant. I know that with his character he won't give up easily on any of it.
Soon, there was another knock on my room door and Adele's voice came in.
"Are you okay Bertha, do you need some lunch?"
I've never been able to resist a cute, sweet-mouthed little girl, especially after hearing that story about the siblings from Aaron, and every glance she gave me made me feel like my conscience was being tortured.
In short, I simply could not refuse her request!
I very helplessly got out of bed to open the door for her, and she looked at me with a large tray in her hand.
"My brother just told me you turned down lunchtime, saying you needed sleep." She said this. "I was worried that you weren't able to tell him directly about any problems you had."
"It doesn't matter." I stroked her head and tried to take the tray from her hand, but she dodged it with a twist.
"Is something happening?" She asked this, placing the items in her hands on the table. "Today it's your favorite spaghetti with tomato bolognese, with baked hash browns, beef meatballs and cream soup."
"The snack was some small berries and strawberries. I remember you like strawberries, right?"
"Yes." I answered her. "You like it too. Have you already eaten lunch?"
"Not yet." Adele said with a sweet smile. "I've been preparing since this morning, and with all the rain we've had this season, the strawberries have become not at all sweet, along with the berries. It took me a long time to pick out a small basket. I want to have lunch with you."
See how you can refuse her.
"Very good." I complimented from the bottom of my heart. "But would these be a little too generous for a lunch?"
"No way." Adele was serious. "Maybe this is a little hearty for me or whatever, but you only eat one meal a day, so it should be hearty either way."
After saying that, she sat down on that side of the table. "Did something just happen?"
"No." I sat down at the table, picked up a fork from my plate and rolled up a ball of noodles and looked at it carefully. "Don't worry."
"Is Aaron causing you any trouble?" Adele still continued to press the issue. "If it is you must tell me and I will stop him."
What should I say?
Because my wolf now has a bad impression of him and doesn't even want to see him, do I have to keep my distance from him now?
"I will." I nodded my head while taking the noodles into my mouth and chewing them carefully.
Adele sat across from me, palms resting on her chin without saying a word, looking at me. After a while, she spoke again.
"Did you have a fight?"
"No." This time, I answered quickly.
There really wasn't a fight, and to be honest, my anger has completely disappeared since he said those things to me the other day.
And we even got along quite well during this time, something I hadn't even thought about before.
He was able to understand many of the things I said at first glance and make precise and different comments, which was very rewarding. He also knew a lot of fighting techniques, and we could talk about cross-fit and Brazilian jiu-jitsu together, even though some of them I had only heard about but never seen.
Most of our hobbies share similarities, even the books we've been reading lately.
This is really rare.
After all, I had previously thought I would be beating the hell out of each other with him at some point.
What kind of person can be prickly and find fault with such a partner all day long? If there is no special hatred between you.
I can't anyway.
Perhaps only Fog, a wolf whose brain occasionally doesn't work very well, can do it.
"That's fine." Adele said sullenly. "If he bullies you, you must tell me."
I couldn't help a small smile. "I definitely will."
"And even if you hadn't said that, I would have."
She looked at me and laughed out loud.
After laughing for a while, I reached out and stroked her little head. "Don't worry, I'm just a little bored because I've been in my room lately."
"Is that so?" Adele's tone instantly became lighter. "Then how about we go out for a walk together? I know a nice place where no one will go, and I'd love to stay there."
I was a little hesitant.
Because I don't know what state the Blue Moon Pack is in now, I'm worried that I'll bring myself into any unnecessary trouble if I walk out of the room again.
"Go on." She said shaking my very healthy arm. "I know you don't like to be alone inside your room or surrounded by many people, and I'll take you down a path where no one else is."
"That's a fun way to go." Her eyes really did look exactly like Aaron's when she looked up at me. "I'm not telling anyone."
"Okay." I nodded at her. "But it has to be very safe to do so, I can't protect you properly right now."
"That's for sure." Adele answered me with great confidence. "I've wanted to do that for a long time. But with my brother staying in your room all the time, letting him know would never be permitted."
"Right." Her eyes glowed. "How about we bring our lunch over for lunch, it'll be better than here."
I really listened to her and sat there waiting for her to pack our lunch, then snuck downstairs with her.
I don't know what's going on, but the floor, which is usually very quiet, seems to be even quieter today, and I haven't met anyone.
Could it be that Adele made some kind of plan in advance and had all these people planned?
I think it is unlikely, although Adele's character has changed a lot after my injury, but she would not do such a thing, she has always been very careful.
Probably seeing what I was thinking, Adele told me while descending the stairs with very light footsteps.
"It seems that we have guests coming today, so everyone is temporarily going to prepare for the welcome dinner."
"Was it some very distinguished guest?" I was curious.
"Maybe so." Adele also looked like she didn't know a lot. "It's said to be from a royal clan, very powerful."
A royal family?
I was a bit puzzled to think how Blue Moon Pack could be related to any royal family, which I had never heard of before.
"Come here." After descending the stairs, she catapulted herself into a huge clump of bushes nearby.
I bent down to look and there was a small hole half a man's height, and I drilled through after her.
"This is a secret passage I found that no one knows about." She walked bent over the front, her voice full of pride. "I thought before that if I ever had a friend, I'd bring her here and we'd have dinner and watch the stars together."
"We just sat looking at each other and didn't say a single word. And not thinking about any one thing."
Hell, whatever the hell with the royal family, none of this has anything to do with us right now.
I walked behind her, quietly vowing not to ask any questions or discuss a single thing about the Blue Moon Pack as long as I was with her in the future.
