Chapter 46: Wine

Reader's POV
Aaron's original intention was to wait for her in his room after he finished the matter at hand. But when he looked up from the pile of papers and saw the green wall outside the window, he changed his mind.
"Is that a very nice place?" His wolf asked, puzzled. Why are you all running there one by one?
Aaron gave a grin that could almost be considered proud. You don't understand, he said.
That place isn't really very nice. It's cold and damp. There were even a lot of bugs. But it was himself and Bertha. The only place where they could be alone in peace.
"Then I don't think it's a good decision for you to use it as a place of healing either." Rock said, "You've planned everything you want to do?"
"Of course." Aaron answered with certainty, "I am not. I am definitely not going to give up on her, and as soon as the coronation is over, I will tell her the truth and she will forgive me."
But whether she still wants you or not is another matter.
I retorted to him quietly in my mind, but didn't say it out loud. Keeping myself in a good mood, I looked out the window.
What did she think she was going to bring to see her in a little while? Or is it that he her days are very busy and pressed not to come.
The thought made his heart panic for a moment. He pressed the bell on his desk. Someone pushed the door and came in.
Go tell Adele to come to me. Say I have something to tell her. The other person nodded and went out, and Aaron continued to look down at his papers.
After a while, his sister walked in with brisk footsteps. Aaron subconsciously looked up to see her face.
These days, Adele has not been very good to him. Although she knows how to do things and usually does not accuse herself.
But Aaron knew that because of Deborah. She has been very aggrieved, very resentful. Perhaps these resentment and Bertha's reasons.
The good thing is that today she seems to be in a good mood, and there was even a smile on her face when she came in. This made Aaron feel a little more relaxed.
Come sit down, he said, patting his lap. How was your day?
"Very good." Hearing his brother ask that. The smile on Adele's face faded a little. It wasn't really good. She had originally planned to collect fireflies today.
But hearing the others say that Bertha seemed to be busy today. Good thing Aaron didn't hear much unpleasantness in his words. He looked at his sister with a smile. I have a little something I need a little help from you.
He noticed Adele's eyes light up for a moment. Can you tell Bertha for me to wait for me in the library? We agreed to have rehab this evening. Can you tell her that for me?
The request wasn't difficult to fulfill. And for Adele, it was just what he wanted.
"Can I come along?" She tilted her head to look at her brother. "I had wanted to collect fireflies with him tonight."
"Okay." Aaron's mood became pleasant. "If only the treatment had ended a little earlier." He smiled, "Maybe I can collect firebugs with you guys."
The decision certainly couldn't have been better. Adele gave a brisk yes and ran out of the office, not even listening to what he said next, nor did she intend to console her brother who had been busy for a long time.
This made Aaron's heart inevitably feel neglected, but so what? His decision had hurt many people, one of whom he hurt the most was his own sister.
He knew what was going through Adele's mind. Maybe Deborah was a bad person in the eyes of this little girl.
No matter what her reasons, and no matter how far things had gone, in any case, as soon as she came to the Blue Moon Pack, they should have used weapons and minions to deal with her, instead of opening the door to welcome his arrival, and even made some terms with her.
Knowing that she was still young, she might not understand those complicated relationships and routines between people. But it doesn't matter, he just wants to be stronger. To be able to be Adele's back up after her parents left.
She does not need to understand this at all. Just need to grow up happy and joyful. Thinking about it, Aaron sighed. He felt that he might not have done enough, and the management of the wolf pack was much more complicated than he thought. At many times, he often felt exhausted.
He had gotten used to Adele's understanding. He was also used to ignoring him in some small details that were not easy to be found and noticed.
It was only with the appearance of Bertha that he finally realized what his sister had become. Aaron dragged his chin, stopped the pen in his hand and sighed in thought.
If he usually cared a little more about him, then would it be different now? Would she have trusted herself unconditionally? Would it have actually been supportive in the heart.
In fact he was right to think, but it did feel like all the things his brother was currently doing were making her feel very sad. It was even making her feel hurt.
But he was used to all this, she was used to Aaron not saying anything to himself. She was also used to the fact that he made one decision after another that she couldn't understand.
Just like before, he had always trusted her. But this time it was different. This time, not only did he include himself in this decision, but also Bertha.
Adele felt that Bertha must have been hurt more than herself. But she didn't say anything, she was as gentle as ever with herself.
This made Adele even more sure of which side she should be on. Definitely not her unreliable brother anyway!
She ran towards Bertha's treatment room. She would usually be there if nothing unexpected happened. But today going was strange.
When Adele arrived at the treatment room, she found that not only were there no clansmen who usually came for help, but even Bertha was nowhere to be seen.
Where had she gone? Adele, thinking about it. Turned around and walked towards their room. But there was no one in the room either. Next she searched everywhere Bertha might have gone.
Including the library attic. But no one was there. It was the man who was cleaning in the garden who told her. He seemed to have seen Bertha talking with someone. But where he had gone, he didn't know.
Adele thought she would be better off waiting in her room. But luckily, she met Mrs. Macy's son on the way.
He asked the other man to give Bertha a message for her, and he was happy to oblige. They were also invited to come to the kitchen for a turkey dinner after they finished.
Adele happily went back to her room to prepare the materials needed to collect the firefly study. By the way, she waited for them to appear in her room together. But what she didn't expect was that in the end, she waited so long, but only Bertha appeared.
At that moment she was thinking that they had quarreled again, but it did not look like it. It didn't seem like she was very angry, instead she looked a little worried about herself. This made Adele feel strange.
But she did not say much, and left. Did she not know that she had sent someone to tell her about the materials she was preparing to collect in the room?
Did that person not tell them about it? Aaron intended to return to his room to take a shower after taking care of the matter at hand. This is also a small habit of his.
After all, Bertha for his examination also have physical contact, if she saw some stains or smell what is not good.
Before leaving the office he glanced at the time, less than six o'clock, perfectly sufficient for him to take a shower and change clothes to catch this appointment.
But that's how the accident happened, and he remembered very clearly that he had just taken a shower. Then he heard a knock on the door.
Was it Bertha who hadn't received the message from Adele? Aaron wiped the water droplets on his hair as he went over and opened the door. But it wasn't Bertha standing in the doorway.
"Hi?" Deborah greeted him happily, "Are you busy?"
Aaron blushed stiffly as she looked her body up and down and took two steps back to simply close the door.
He dressed as fast as he could and opened the door again when Deborah was still standing there looking at him, so he had to speak, "Are you busy?"
"Of course." Deborah saw that he had no intention of letting himself in and didn't push it, shaking the bottle in her hand, "Brought it especially for you, Sumac Sparkling Wine."
"Thanks." Aaron's words remain few and far between, "I will collect it well."
Usually by this time, Deborah would already have had the sense to leave, which is one of the few daily routines of their interaction these days.
But today she was stubborn, "Aren't you going to open it and try it?" She smiled and said, "As you know this sparkling wine is made in a very special way. They have a shelf life of even less than ten days, so it would be a bit of a pity if they were for collection."
Aaron did not want to continue to pester her, "I will taste it with care, okay Deborah? I have things to do now, please leave."
"Aaron." Deborah's face began to turn ugly, "Is that how much you loathe me already? Even a small gift from me you're going to throw in the trash?"
"I had no intention of doing that." Aaron got cranky again, "I said I would drink it!"
"Or are you going to take it to the woman?" Deborah looked at him sadly, there were even tears in the corners of her eyes, "Are you guys planning on having a nice doctor-patient date?"
"That's enough!"
Aaron couldn't stand her saying that, he looked down at the bottle in his hand, the packaging was still intact, the label seal indicated it came from the same winery thousands of feet away, there was nothing wrong with it.
He simply unwrapped the package and took a big swig, the wine tasted sweet and mellow without any problems.
"Is it ready now?"
"Sure." Deborah seemed satisfied with his obedience and smiled as she left, "Thank you for enjoying my gift."
As soon as she left Aaron turned and ran to the toilet, he threw up against his throat with the handle of his toothbrush then rinsed his mouth.
Then later, he collapsed in a full-body fever by the closet.
