Internal Complications

**Calder’s POV**

We had news that the girl woke up a few days ago Ryan wouldn’t tell us what was wrong with her though. The whole situation was weird when I picked her up to take her to the room it’s like she had no scent she smelt of nothing but she felt so warm and yet her skin was ice cold. Overall training with them was a good Spencerian minus the part where my date for the ball found her mate, I mean that was a bit of a bummer and since we got back my mother is all over me about it.

The ball is tomorrow and as I’m walking through the pack house, I can see my mother has really gone all out for this there are white flowers living the stairwell and in bit vases all over the house, the carpets have all been cleaned and the grand dining room is dressed for the dinner and ready to go. I walk through admiring her handy work when I spot Sigi at the other He’s been in this weird mood since we got ack I tried not to push him, but we have guests tomorrow and enough is enough. I walk up to him place my hand on his shoulder.

"Hey Sigi, walk with me a second we need to talk”.

He rolls his eyes at me and reluctantly gets to his feel, we walk out towards the grounds and at the forests edge. I turn to him when we are alone.
"Sigi. What’s wrong with you man? you’ve been acting weird since we got back from the pearl moon pack " I look at him we’ve been friends out whole lives and I know him. His face screws up a little.

"I’m fine "His words short and sharp.

"Clearly you’re not fine, and I don’t want to have to order you to tell me I know somethings wrong "What is he keeping from me.
He looks at me knowing I know that he can’t lie to me "It’s the sisters from the pearl moon Calder”.

Now I’m confused "what do they have to do with anything."

"I know this sounds weird, but I think somethings up with them, the whole thing with their sister is odd like what was up with her”.
Then it clicks, he’s not talking about the sisters he’s talking about one of them Cynthia I saw the way he was staring, I decide to press him a little further.

"Sigi are you sure this is about the sisters and not just one sister?"
His eyes go a little darker and I know I hit a nerve.

"What do you mean, what are you even talking about? His voice is angry and somewhat panicky .

"You know what I mean man, I saw you staring at her, what’s the deal? "

He averts his eyes from mine, cracking his knuckles.

"I thought she might have been my mate”.

"What that’s amazing! what happened " trying to sound enthusiastic.

"Nothing happened that’s the point! she didn’t even acknowledge it” his words are angry bit filled with hurt.
"So, she rejected you?"

"NO! she didn’t do anything. She stared right in my face and didn’t even react, but I’m sure its Calder when we saw her my wolf was going mad”.

" I’m sorry man, maybe you can try to talk to her tomorrow night? maybe she was just nervous " I place a reassuring hand on his I should feel how sad he is, but I don’t know what to do, before I can say anything however, he pulls away and looks towards the forest.

"Calder, don’t you think what happened was weird though? With their sister they both just ran out of that meeting like they knew but when we got to her, she was in no fit state to link them, and they kept holding her head down like they didn’t want us to see her”.

I go to speak again but he carries on.

"And then all the stuff with Arti, you can’t tell me you’ve ever seen anyone fight like that it wasn’t normal”.

I look at his face, he can’t be serious, I chuckle. "Dude your just mad cause she beat your ass again and again”.
His eyes widen and go black "No Calder I’m telling you something is weird with them; the way Cynthia was healing those people too as soon as she touched them it’s like they didn’t feel anything anymore ...and the sister did you not notice how she didn’t have a scent like what was that about? Calder, I think we should keep an eye on them”.

I can tell he serious about this and I will stand by him if he wants to investigate it.

"Okay Sigi if you’re sure that something is going on then we will. It’s the sister’s birthday tomorrow and they have asked to go on a run well follow them, and do some digging into their backgrounds?"

There is a silence between us and then he nods.
"But Sigi, if nothing comes of this you have to talk to Cynthia or let it go okay?
With that I turn and walk back to the pack house.

It’s been a few hours since the talk with Sigi, He seems to have cheered up now and we are in one of the meeting rooms with Fin and some other warriors, were going over some of the plans for tomorrow with 2 packs here we have to ensure there no fighting and also that the borders are secure. My mum comes in halfway through and talks us over the plans for the ball, it’s the usual stuff welcoming the puck on the steps, drinks then the Alphas will convene to talk then its dinner, a few speeches about fighting in unison blah blah blah then some dancing then home, or not if you find your mate.

We Finally finish around 10.30 PM and I’m Starving, Vidar has been going nuts these past few days he just wants to run, and he wants to find our mate tomorrow in all the madness people seem to have forgotten why we are doing this, the rogues have been quiet since there last attack, but I have this feeling of unrest I know that the worst is yet to come.

I do a final walk of the borders stopping to check in with some of the warriors, taking in the fresh air and the moon is so bright.
"Calder, I want to run "Vidar’s voice pretty much attacks my mind he has been wining.

Deciding to finally give in I shift on the spot and head for the forest, I let him take over enjoying this rare moment of silence just me and my wolf.
Vidar has taken us to the waterfall again, it’s been his default of choice since the night we saw her. We were both hoping we might have met her when we trained with them but there was no such luck he plays around in the water for a while always glancing across, I know he is hoping she will show up.

We head back to the pack house, when we get there, I shift a head for the fridge grabbing pretty much whatever I can carry I check the time its half past midnight, so I head upstairs After devouring all the food I bought with me I shower and change and then climb into bed.

Just a I’m drifting off I hear a faint knock at the door , From experience I know this is one of two thins either the someone is injured or its Revna , she’s a wolf my father took in as a small child she was abandoned my father gifted her to a couple who would love and care for her the couple died when she was 18 so since then she’s lived in the pack house , but really she’s a pain in the ass .As children we played together and we had pretend weddings and Luna ceremonies but she never quite got that that was playing .

We both got super drunk one night about 6 months ago and had sex it meant nothing and we both regretted afterwards at least I thought we did but now whenever she sad or drunk she is coming to my room late at night when she is drunk or feeling sorry for herself. I head to the door the scent confirming it is her.

"Calder baby, I thought you might want some company”.

I stare down at her knowing full well under that robe she isn’t wearing a thing and her blond hair his down she obviously tried to do it so it looks dishevelled and sexy, she’s not unattractive but she’s not my type at all, I know we shouldn’t have slept together but after I tried to be mindful of her feelings and now, she just won’t quit. I do not even speak back just stare at her when she pushes past me.

"Revna, get out were not doing this again " I say my voice stone cold I can feel Vidar getting pissed off he despises what we did to her, but we tried to be nice.

"Calder, what are you saying I know you want this as much as I do " she drops her robe and crawls onto the bed.

"I know you do I can see it in your eyes they’ve lost their blue and they are turning black " She puts her fingers up and ushers me towards her.
With that I snap and shout at her.

"You couldn’t be more wrong love! My eyes are black because my wolf wants you gone, were disgusted by you. You were a onetime thing and nothing more you filled a void but vie moved on. I’d never want you as my Luna “. I see her eyes fill up with tears and I am hit with instant regret I wanted her to leave but I never meant to hurt her I just wanted her to listen. She pulls her robes and heads for the door.

"I know you’re the Alpha Calder, but you were my friend first, but you don’t have to be a dick, you started this that night when we slept together, and you said all those things and now you just take it back like its nothing like I’m nothing”.

"I was drunk Revna, I said all those things to get you into be nothing more it’s not my fault you took them seriously”.

"Fuck you Calder, you knew I’ve loved you since we were little, I hope I find my mate tomorrow at your shitty ball and I hope when you see me with, I’m it eats you up inside when you realise what you’ve lost! " She screamed the last words at me and stormed out.

She loved me? she never said I feel awful how could I have not seen this. I sit back on my bed I must try and apologise without her thinking I want her.

Therefore, I’ve never been fussed about have a girlfriend of finding my mate, it’s too much work and its distracting.

Now tomorrow I must keep an eye on Sigi, on the sisters and now on Revna all while trying to appear strong in front of 500 wolves.
