Stagnant

It’s been 2 hours and Arlo has not moved the wolves around him began to sit but he has not moved, no one has ventured close to the barrier line but I can’t help like he taunting us knowing that its draining for us to hold it so much so none of us have changed out of the clothes we are in.

We eventually ventured inside Calder’s anger at seeing Fins head and Revna stood with those who did it was radiating to everyone around and it was putting everyone on edge , we all ventured to his office to decide what we are going to do when this field drops, we need to be ready because Arlo for sure is .

We are all sat around the room exhausted and deflated Arti, Cynth and I feeling the mental strain of this .
Calder stands up from next to me and begins pacing the room from one end to the other I go to speak but Sigi grabs my arm to stop me .

*"you need to leave him Sel, in a minute he will tell us what he's thinking but you just need to give him space "*

We wait patiently for him to stop moving so he can share his thoughts in this instance he knows his pack and lands better than anyone .
Finally, he stops his eyes onyx and cold no emotion on showing in his expressionless face .

*"Selene are you able to lift the barrier in just one spot ?"*

I stare at him blankly unsure if I even have the answer to that question .

"It’s possible I think yes . why?"

None of those words giving him any kind of solid answer to the question .

*"Even if you try, I think it will be enough "*

Ryan leads forward in his seat letting go of Arti’s hand for the first time in hours .

*"Calder , I’ve spend enough time with Eric to know the look on an alphas face when he’s planning something crazy . What are you thinking ?"*

He doesn’t answer right away but begins pacing again and I can see from the look in his eyes he is mind linking someone, I don’t know what the plan is but I know he has already made his mind up that were doing it and I know enough about him to know there is no point in arguing .

*"Were going to open gaps in the field and let in waves of rouges then shut them back off the warriors are moving to wear the breaks need to be. The plan is we let a few in and we close the break and then we kill them repeating it until there number is a little more equal to our own. Then and only then will we drop the guard and take them all on Ryan Sigi and I will try to get you three as close to Arlo as possible so you can end him "*

There a silence in the room .Artemis stands from her seat a look of determination on her face her eyes fixated on Calder.
*"Fine were in , where are the breaks and we will tell what’s left of our warriors to meet yours in the chosen spot"*

For just a second you would think that Artemis was the Alpha of the pearl moon clan , Ryan did not challenge his made simply stood up in agreement . The next ten minutes go by in a blur .Its decided that there will be 3 break points for me to focus on while my sisters focus on keeping the rest of it together ,Calder seems to think that doing this 3 or four times will diminish their numbers enough that it will make it a fare fight however he has asked his warriors to stay in human form for as long as possible .

"Calder are you not worried they might not make it if they do not shift ? "
He doesn’t look at me but mutters a short and sharp no .

Deciding not to push him I decide to go and get changed , my beautiful dress was already stained red it didn’t need to bare my own blood on it ,Cynthia follows me to my room I pull out some training clothes for myself and some for Cynthia.
We change in silence the same stagnant air that has inculpated the house since this began , our dressed now laid on the bed a token of the highs we so longed for in life but never quite reach with each passing moment we breath .

I look towards Cynthia the nervousness showing in her face, she can fight but she is not a fighter, and, in this moment, I know the need to protect over destroy is weighing heavy on her heart. Taking her hand in mine I pull her in for a hug at first she does not hug me back and then we lean into one another holding on like we may not have another chance to do this again savouring the love we feel for one another until the door opens and we pull away slightly seeing Artemis in the door way now changed as well .

No words are spoken between us and she joins our embrace the thumping of our heart beats momentarily louder than any other noise, it feels like we are saying goodbye .

After a short while we break apart wiping the involuntary tears from our own eyes , Artemis looks between us .
*"Are you both ready ?"*

Taking a step towards the door "As ready as I think I’ll ever be "

When we reach the outside Arlo is still stood in the same spot more of our own warriors have gathered waiting to hear from the two Alpha's.
Calder explains to all of them the plan in hushed voices and they begin to move to their designated area's I watch in awe as they follow his every word pride on their faces a willingness to die to protect what they love .

We Separate from one another leaving to spread out with our mates by our side , with Calder’s movement the other side of the line begin howling some shifting into wolf form ready to attack eye fixated on him like killing him will be the biggest prize of all .

*"Selene when you’re ready you can create the breaks "*
He squeezes my hand and I concentrate on forming small gaps at the three points he told me I look around and I hear it working as the sound of fighting begins , the thudding of paws bellowing around us .

*"Okay Selene , close it now !"*
I do as he instructed and close the breaks, looking around to see the warriors make short work of the rouges that have gotten in . I dodge and on coming wolf grabbing his neck and snapping it in one fluid movement as he passes by me.

The first wave of fighting last around 20 minutes , there are few who have minor injuries but thankfully no deaths from our side, Calder motions me to open the second breaks so I do feeling more drained at tired this time and yet again Arlo is stood motionless not reacting to the fight.

A see four wolves run towards Calder and I and I can feel Seleste urging to be let out to tear these wolves apart for threatening our mate but I can’t , the first wolf moves towards me snarling as he paces around me ready to strike, as soon as he lunges towards me I fall onto my back letting him think he has me pinned I pull his front legs to side cracking his chest open and pushing him off me and twisting his neck .

I feel myself becoming more optimistic as this round continues , Calder finishes off the last wolf effortlessly and turns to me to open the breaks for a final time .

Cynth and Arti join me for the final time we focus on one another on the shield and on the breaks it’s in that moment of silence we hear him .

Arlo let out a horrendous growl and was pushing on the field every push causing pain in my head like he is pushing my mind , Arti and Cynth drop to their needs feeling the pain I’m in and I watch as the shield shortens around us only my own holding and the wolves behind us now exposed.

He pushes harder and then I feel it, He breaks the shield and it shatters in my mind the walls broken tumble down leaving us exposed, I feel like I’m going to pass out my legs giving way beneath me the pain excruciating .

Calder’s hand sweep me off the floor holding me up the warmth enveloping me as I try to focus on my standing my mind starting to level out.
A few seconds later I’m pushed behind Calder the wolves surrounding Arlo have begun to walk our way stalking us like prey.

We all stand ready to face these wolves all of whom look similar to Arlo , mutated stuck between wolf and human snarling and snapping their jaws our way. The look of all of them only intensifying our anger bringing us to the brink of the shift ready to rip them all apart . I feel Artemis projecting her power on Cynthia and me the power she has flowing through me like my veins are on fire from her anger .

A soft sarcastic clap fills the air the rogues all stopping some even accepting the blow that ends them like they cannot help but to do nothing as the sound resonates across the space .

Arlo steps forward Ash and Revna following close behind ,all of them now heading our way the Soft claps still continuing like he’s applauding our efforts .

His words are soft and somehow violent like he knows the damage he can instil with them , the fear he can create .

Calder lets out a low growl from his chest struggling to keep Vidar at bay the atmosphere around us too unpredictable to make any sudden movements.
Now he is closer you can see Arlo’s veins protruding through his body his blood visibly flowing through them, he towers over those around him his body half covered in his wolves fur that’s matted and long , the hair on his head more human but dirty and grey.

Did you think this fight would be so simple that your little plan to pick us off would work I could have walked through that field at any moment, but I wanted to know what you would do how you would react . I was right you are weak just like your parents I will tear your limb from limb just like your I did your dad" *


He finishes his speech with a huge growl the rouges erupting in cheers as they all prepare to fight again this time there is no remorse in their eyes no fear left .

I step forward the anger in me now spilling over , my eyes burning from the tears and pent up rage .

In one movement I shift into my wolf ready to tear him apart.
