Let Them Out

**Selene's POV**

I panicked and used my power no idea if it would work focusing on only him, he was pulling Calder and I just couldn’t let him get close I knew he would kill him the minute he had a hold of him.

I’m stunned into silence all of my focus on him he’s not moving but I can feel him fighting against it our minds are like the wrong ends of magnets pushing one another away I try to link Cynthia to help but the connection seems to be lost only a the spiralling push from myself and Arlo .

Now I’m close to his face I can see the lines evident of his age but masked by scars and his lifestyle merging himself with so many others to try and get what he wants and now I’m seemingly all that stands in his way .

From the corner of my eye I see Calder pulling the chain again tightening it Arlo's eyes widening at the pressure like he senses what I’m thinking he motions for Sigi and the other to pull the their chains tightening the grip on him Arlo becoming more agitated with every pull and I’m struggling more and more to keep him at bay .

I call out for Seleste for her help I can’t hold him alone any longer.
**"Selene I’m right here with you . You just have to focus on him for a little while longer just keep him there Sel . I promise I will let you know when it’s time just hold on"**

I can feel my body beginning to break down from the stress of this something wet now dripping from my nose .
I hold him like this for another 5 minutes some of the rogues around us now running for the trees at the site of Arlo in stasis unable to move .

I’m on the verge of losing my grip on him his voice now becoming louder in my own mind from like his mouth is right by my ear , I’m ready to give him when I hear Seleste tell me to let go I don’t wait for her to say it twice I break away from him and drop to the ground feeling like someone has poured a bucket of ice over me , breathing rapidly as I try to re-enter the surroundings .

I’m pulled up onto my feet my two sets of familiar hands sparking a surge of familiarity in me , both of them talking over one another trying to talk to me .Artemis turns my face to hers her mouth is moving but I cannot focus on the words she sounds muffled like she’s under water .They talk between themselves again words flowing so rapidly between the two I zone out unable to make any sense of it as they lay me on my back on the floor.

My senses no longer able to function I close my eyes letting the peacefulness sit with me for a while longer , the stillness I now feel enveloping me like I’ve been covered in a warm duvet on a cold night ...

Its feel like and entire life as gone by before I’m more Intune with myself able to look up the sky clear enough for me to see the brightly shining moon and hundreds of stars like spread across like splatters of paint .

I sit up and look around the space , it is the lawn of the pack house but there are no longer dead wolves sprayed across it no longer blood splattered staining the luscious green grass . The trees seem more alive as they sway in the cool breeze of the evening . I start to wonder if all of these had been a nightmare the kind you get when you sleep so peacefully it feels like reality .

*"It was all real you know "*
The sound of another voice making me snap my head around , my mouth opening slightly at the sight before me .
A small woman with creamy white skin so unblemished she shines in the light her long blond hair hitting her waist while the top half is swirled into an elegant bun , no strand out of place her naked body perfectly in proportion .

I want to look away to save her modesty but I’m captivated by her everything about her is elegant the way she holds herself up , she steps towards me s gracefully I could swear she is floating .I back away from her just a fraction not knowing that her intentions are, she places a hand on my cheek and caresses it softly .

*"Selene you and your sisters are accomplished more than I could have ever hoped for in this fight"*
She smiles softly at me and I feel like I have known her all my life , it is in this moment that I realise who this woman in .

"You are her, aren’t you ? you’re the moon goddess "
She lets out ripple of soft laughter .

*"I have been called many things in my time Selene but yes I am she "*

I cannot find any words to say I have a thousand questions for her all of which now seem to be stuck in my very dry throat .

*"I know you must have one million questions for me "*
She takes my hand in hers and I feel complete in a way I never have before

*"I wish I could answer them all but there is no time. I know your parents told you that you must trust your wolves and they were right Selene , Your wolves carry the memories of those before them from the start of your blood line now they have seen enemies like Arlo and they have defeated them . When you go back you must tell you sisters to let their wolves out"*

I stare at her while eyes confused at the words she just spoke, I want to tell her I don’t understand but as before I cannot manage ay words .

*"Selene the three of you are so special when I gave the first their gifts they were my own daughters they wanted to live a normal life and so it was to protect them and all those around them and for a while it was that way but as the world developed so did their own greed and the greed of others . When I say you must let your wolves out you must focus on separating them from you they are the ones who will defeat Arlo by pulling him apart once you let them out they will know what to do the memories of the times they have done this before will be restored and they will end the greed. You must know that when you do this Selene you will all lose your gifts" *

A thousand things rush through my mind, but one sentence keeps flooding back to me over and over I look to her .

"This is what you meant isn’t it when you spoke to my parents ? you told them that the last would restore the first and then the line will end . This is what you were talking about the whole time. It will end when our powers are gone, and Arlo is dead "

She squeezes my hand and nods .

"You knew we would have to face him all along "

*"Yes Selene I knew that it would end this way and it was a risky choice to give you those gifts Arlo could have found you and taken you but I had to wait until you were all of age it would give you all enough time to understand what was being asked of you "*

I gulp at her words, wishing my sisters were here with me to hear what she has to say .
"When I release Seleste will that be it forever ? will I lose my wolf "

I can feel the lump forming in my throat as I say the words , how could I live without her guidance she is a part of me .

*"Oh Selene ! of course not but like you your wolf’s lines will end . This will be there last and final life they will die with you when you leave this plain of existence for another .She will be with you always but the two of you will be just like everyone else"*

I manage a half smile at the words knowing she would be with me always bring me a lot of joy .

*"Your destinies were paved a long time ago before I even knew what they would be it would always lead you to this . But once you stop this you will be free there will be no more powers for someone to steal no more kingship to be chased just you and your life living it however you see fit "*

As before the Calmness of her voice keeps my breathing steady and my mind open , she is right I will go back and tell them they must let their wolves be free , they might think I’m mad but it is the right thing to do .
If we do this out lives are our own no mysteries or threats just the three of us finally living .

As is she sensed by acceptance the moon goddess leans in and kisses my head, I feel the mark on my thigh sting a little as she pulls away from me, she whispers softly .
*"These marks will be with you always as a reminder of where you come from and what you have done "*

I want to say thank you to her but I’m pulled away from this picturesque reality my eyes open and I’m laid on the ground bright blue eyes fixated on my own, for a normal life with him this has all been worth it , everything I do now will be worth it .
I pull him towards me kissing him passionately before pulling away and turning to my sisters who have looks of sadness and relief spread across their faces , they both start asking me if I’m okay but there is no time I can hear the chains rattling , Arlo is close to breaking out of them I explain what we must do and who I spoke to .

They don’t hesitate to believe me as they help me up off the floor the three of us now facing a furious Arlo whose thrashing is causing more and more rouges to flee as if they know it is over , some small fights are still happening across the field but in a short while it will all end .

I take both my sister’s hands in my own the warm of out touch creating a clarity I’ve never had before I link them both .

"We have to focus on out wolves as if they were stood in front of us , as if we were watching them pull Arlo apart this is how we get close without getting close . I want you both to know how much I love you and how proud I am to be your sister if this doesn’t work, I know I’ve had the best life"

The tears are flowing freely down our faces Calder , Sigi and Ryan and some other warriors now holding the chains looking at us like we are crazy .

I take a deep breath, close my eyes and focus; I focus on letting Selene out as if she were in front of me walking side by side .A shock wave runs through the three of us cause my arms and legs to stiffen momentarily .
When I open my eyes, I see them our 3 wolves as if they were someone else’s stood before us nuzzling each other like long lost family .

*"What is happening what are you doing ?*

Arlo's voice is full of curiosity and confusion but the sound of him causes the Selene , Aria and Cyrus to look at him . Determination fills my body as I watch the three of them run at him clamping their jaws down on him , Aria ripping his arm from the socket Cyrus following with the other the sound of the chains dropping with each limb .

He is bloody and missing limbs but still struggling to break free, Vile words escaping his mouth as he resounds killing our mothers pack s, slicing her open with just a claw before he can finish all three wolves have clamped down on his neck the crunching sound making me squirm .

A few seconds later his head drops to the floor and rolls across the ground until it is lying at our feet.
