First Thing Tomorrow

The rest of the night was a sleepless one, Selene looked so content and I couldn’t help but think about what it will do to her if she finds out her father is alive but has to die, it’s like giving her the world and then snatching it right back away from her.

Opting not to lay awake wallowing in this anymore I pull away from Selene and head into the kitchen , these two days are supposed to be romantic and I plan on being the perfect gentleman.

Pulling open the fridge there a box full of ingredients from Sybil along with instructions stapled on the front how to make Selene’s favourite breakfast . I pull out some other items, turn the coffee pot on and begin hoping this is going to be the best breakfast she has ever had.

Thirty minutes later Selene walks out of the room in nothing but my shirt , I have to remind myself that she needs to eat and we have plans, eyes still firmly fixated on her she smirks at me knowing exactly what I’m thinking I push the giant plate of French toast at her. Her eyes light up the same way they always do when you’re giving her food .

I pour her a cup of coffee and plate up the rest of the breakfast food her eyes bulge at the plate of pastries when I put them down.

*"Calder did you make all of this? . "*
She grabs one of the croissants and smells it letting out small moan of pleasure.

"I did Selene although if you keep making noises like we’re not going to be in the kitchen long enough for you to eat it "

Her cheeks flush red and she drops her head to her food . Not wanting to embarrass her further I take a sip of my coffee and dig into the food .
*"I had no idea you could cook like this Calder , where did you learn ?"*

"I used to spend a lot of time with my grandma when my mum and dad were away , they would drop me to her house, and we would cook, and she would read to me while I stayed with them. She passed when I was thirteen, so I spent a lot of time in my own kitchen recreating some of the food she used to make ,it is another thing that helps me to focus"

*"And was it needing to focus that made you cook enough food for ten people this morning or was it something else ?"*

I so desperately want to tell the exact reason I had to get out of bed this morning , that her father’s alive , mutated in my cellar but I can’t .
"Can’t I just do something nice for my wife , she seemed pretty worn out last night so I figured she could use a little more energy "

I get up from my seat and make my way round to seat next to hers sliding her off her seat and onto my lap , taking the fork from her ,her eyes on my own as I move the fork towards her mouth she parts her lips slightly before I pull the fork away and eat the food myself .

*"You dick I wanted that bit "*

She takes the fork out of my hand and continues to eat .
"So, what do you want to do today Sel? , we can do whatever you want "

She hesitates for a moment before turning to me a serious and stern expression on her face .

*"Can we go for a run and then maybe a swim before coming back here and watching a movie or something ? . I’d like a day of feeling normal .*

A day of feeling normal , I can give her that for at least one day .
"Sounds perfect , I’m going to go jump in shower while you finish up "

As soon as I get back in the other room I close the bathroom door and link Sigi for an update .
"Sigi , did Ryan agree ? "

*"Hey Calder, I’m great thanks for asking ! "*

"Stop fucking about Sigi what he said ?"

*"He agreed , but their dad is getting restless he keeps saying he wants to see them now he has told us everything "*

"No way is he seeing Selene, yet I don’t think she will cope , just appease him for one more night I’ll be back tomorrow "

*"Will do . And Calder when you get back we need to talk man , it’s been a while "*

"It has indeed , we can speak when I get back just you and me no alpha , beta crap just us "

*"Looking forward to it "*

After a while Selene and I make it outside . Selene changed her mind about going to run and expressed a wish to walk in the scenery to which I obliged.
I was watching her look at the flowers as we got near the water’s edge the way her hair brushed her shoulders as she bent down and then falling slightly across her face.

She really is beautiful which is making the news about her father that more difficult , the day passes on and I show her some of my favourite spots the best one being from the top of the waterfall, there’s a small winding path up one side and when you reach the top you can see all our lands , the main pack house and all of the smaller picket fenced houses dotted around .

*"Wow Calder this really is beautiful , you can see everything from here" *

She pulls me in for a hug nuzzling into my chest I wrap my arms around her, but it doesn’t feel right it feel like I guilty like I shouldn’t be enjoying this when I know this secret and I’m keeping it from her.

I pull away from her quickly .
"Come on Sel we should head back it’s getting cold "

I see a small tinge of hurt flash in her eyes as I take her hand and lead her back down . As we are walking along the waterfall Sel stops and looks at everything admiring the smallest of details and I’m stood hands on my pockets .

She then stares at the water for a while and then turns in the breeze her hairs catching in the wind and throwing her scent my way .

*"Calder, do you want to swim ?" *

Honestly;absolutely not I want to take her home to bed but the sensible part of me knows I shouldn’t do that before I have told her everything, at this moment in time I could do with the ice-cold water .

"Sure, Sel lets get in "

She undresses at the edge of the water her swimsuit showing all her curves off in all the right places making me let out an involuntary moan , I really need to get into the water .

I take off my jeans and jump waiting for her to climb into the cold water . We spend the next hour letting the water rush over us while the warm sun beats down, Selene lets the waterfall soak her hair the water dripping onto her skin in little pearly droplets, I can feel my shorts getting a little tighter just watching her.

I turn away and splash my face with water heading for the edge to climb out .

*"Calder are you okay ?"*

She pulls me hand making me look into her eyes .

*"It’s just, you seem a bit off since we were at the top of the falls "*

She is searching my face for an answer can tell she is worried about what I’m going to say because she is slightly chewing her bottom lip . I need to give her a feasible answer at least until tomorrow when we get back to the house and I can be sure of what’s going on .

"It’s nothing Sel the last few weeks have been a lot and I’m just tired . How about we head back to the cabin and I’ll make dinner ?"

I shoot her a half smile and turn towards my pile of clothes scooping them up hoping she doesnt see my smile drop. I feel warm tingles on my shoulder at her touch.

*"Calder , I know you’re not telling the truth its written all over you face, but I’m not going to push you. You can tell me when you ready in the meantime though I’m starving, and we have a terrible movie to make out too" *

She winks , picks up her clothes and back towards the cabin , the water still dripping in her hair from her hair as she moves.

**"You know we should tell her Calder , she’s out mate she will understand "**

"Vidar it’s not that I don’t think she will understand her dads alive, but I don’t think she will understand when we tell her he has to die. I am going to tell her just not yet, I just want the rest of the night "

**"Well you for sure have some making up to do as for the last couple of hours you have been being a dick and they both know it I can feel the hesitation from Seleste "**

By the time I catch up to Selene in the house I can already hear the shower running so I make a start on the dinner , I opted for something simple a classic carbonara one of the first things my grandma taught me to make.

I hear the shower turn off so I head into the room , only glancing at Selene letting her know I’ll be quick as I close the bathroom door , as soon as I’m done I throw on some lounge pants and grab a t-shirt as I head back into the kitchen.

I pour Selene a glass of wine begin to cook. We eat and talk about being children and what our school experiences were like , she then asks me about my grandma and what kind of father my own was to me .This then leads her to talk about her own parents and I feel my jaw clench as she wipes a tear from her eyes letting me know how much she misses them and wishes she could have been around them a little longer .

She wipes her eyes and begins telling me a story about her father trying to build them a swing in the garden and how is was so disastrous her mother made him take it down but not before he let them all play on it and that’s when she cut her leg on a nail .

She laughs at the memory and the most infectious smile spreads across her face as she remembers the happier times with them.

In that moment I’m so torn between telling her and ruining that perfect memory of him of keeping it a secret and letting her live with all the good she feels when she talk about him .

I clear away the plates while Selene heads to the sofa to pick a movie , this really was a great evening I’ve gotten to know so many things about her that I didn’t before the pang of guilt still evident but I plan on telling her first thing tomorrow morning there’s just the rest of tonight to get through .

A smile on my face I head into the living area , sitting down on the sofa.
"Selene you haven’t picked a movie yet , too many choices "

I chuckle and turn my head to look at her .She has her head in her hands her shoulders tensed over .

I touch her shoulder to pull her out of herself .
"Selene are you okay ?"

The second she looks at me I know that she has just mind linked someone .

*"Am I okay ?"*

Her words pierce me like daggers as her eyes finally meet my own .

*"Calder , you knew . Youve known the whole time we have been here, and you said nothing . How could you keep this from me? "*

She stands up from the sofa and steps away from , I instantly to the same stepping towards her grabbing her hand .

"Selene it’s not like that I was going to tell you first thing tomorrow "

*"First thing tomorrow? How could you not tell me Cynthia and Sigi are having a baby that’s my own sister ?" *

She must have noticed my shock at her words . Sigi is having a baby with Cynthia .

*"Okay maybe you didn’t know , are you okay ?"*

"Yeah I’m good and no I had no idea , this is amazing news I know Sigi always wanted a family "

We sit for a second linking them both letting them know how happy we are for them apparently Cynthia couldn’t wait to tell Selene, so she had to link her right away .

As we eventually relax back into the sofa, Sel looking for a movie to watch she stops and turns to me .

*"Wait . I don’t understand , if you didn’t know what was it that you were going to tell me tomorrow ?"*

Confusion crosses her face and I stare at her not knowing what to say next .
