Lessons From Mother

**Selene's POV **

Last night was a whirlwind of emotions I still can’t believe that Arti and Cynth have settled on dying being the only option we have to win this, not that I’m even sure what it is that we are going to have to win.

Calder agreed to come back to my pack with me , I asked to go today but he told me he has some things he needs to deal with but we would go in three days’ time I thought about going alone but the last time I wandered through the woods by myself did not exactly go well .

So this morning I got up and pretended like any other I joined the training with the silver moon pack , I cannot even begin to explain how sore I am now they do not mess about and since the appearance of Ash they seem to have stepped it up 50 thousand percent and the only one of the pearl moon that could keep up was Artemis . No surprise there it her gift to be smarter, stronger and faster than those she fights so I won’t discredit myself to much.

I manage to will my jelly legs to the kitchen praying that Sibyl has made some sweet breakfast French toast would be a huge win. I’m so thankful Sibyl survived the attack although she is now left with a large scar across her face, I think Ryan found her at the perfect time and Cynth was able to heal her. Since then she has been working in Calder kitchen making us all feel a little bit of normality with some of her meals.

As I walk into the kitchen she is stood there her face still holding that lovely smile , I walk over to her and embrace her and she me , when she hugs me it feels like home it’s a beautiful moment until my stomach starts rumbling. She ushers me to take a seat and piles breakfast onto my plate, scrambled eggs, sausages and more importantly 3 slices of extra thick brioche French toast.

If I were to die later today at least I would die happy and full , the other pack members start to filter in each taking food and thanking sibyl and their own cook whose name I don’t know , I’m glad they are treating her well here she deserves it .
I about to finish up my last piece of toast when she puts more on my plate I smile and grab the syrup.

"*You know Selene , you are supposed to save some for the everyone* " I whip my head round and see Arti and Cynth stood there , normally I would feel nothing but happiness when I see them but this time its coupled with a sense of sadness .

They take a seat on the other side of the breakfast bar and add food to their own plates, we finish eating and drinking our round of tea.
The room starts to clear and then Artemis speaks in a low voice.

"*Selene, were going to the forest after this to train Ryan knows but you need to go and get a bag ill grab some food and Cynth you grab some medical supplies just in case. We’re going to push ourselves today* "

Cynthia nods and gets up from the table.

"*Well meet in 30 mins out the front* “we both watch her nod and walk away.

Then I feel Arti’s eyes staring at me I try not to look at her, but she doesn’t quit.

"Okay Artemis why are you staring "

"*I’m not staring, I’m just getting a different vibe from you today, what’s going on* "

Oh god she knows and I’m going to have to tell her in this kitchen that I think she’s wrong I need, and excuse and I need it fast.

"Nothing is wrong I just have been thinking about erm " Think Sel come on you can do this.
"I’ve been thinking a lot about Calder today you know " I pull on my cheesiest grin and hope she buys it.

She studies my face for a second, but I think she bought it.

"*I have to admit he wouldn’t be my first choice for you but if he makes you happy, I support you no matter what you know that* "

She smiles softly and takes my hand in hers giving it a squeeze.

"*Go on Sel, go get your stuff we will meet you out the front* " And she leaves to find Sibyl to prepare some food.

I smile and push my chair out taking a step off the stool my legs instantly buckle underneath me and my body crashes down to the floor my head hitting the concrete, great I guess the jelly legs haven’t gone yet.

I push myself up off the floor and hear a giggle coming from the doorway looking up at who is.

"*Oh shit! Sel you're bleeding* "

Jackson rushes towards me that big smile of slightly up turned at the sight of me.

"Hey Jackson, how’s things?"

"*Well I just watched my dear friend face plant the floor it was great really but now I see that she has blood coming out of her head and she’s just asking me how things are* "

I touch my fingers to my head and sure enough there's the blood.

"*We should get you cleaned up*"

He grabs my hand and pulls me towards the sink ,Running the water and getting a cloth to clean my head his hand still holding mine , he’s about to wipe the blood away and prepare for the sting when both our heads whip round to the window to see a very angry Calder staring at the both of us his eyes black and fury filling his face.

He heads towards us and swings the back door open I stand in front of Jackson not wanting him to get hurt but Calder grabs me and pulls me to him inspecting my head.

"*What did he do to you* " His teeth are gritted, and he is stood like he is going to punch Jackson int the face.

"I Tripped Calder Jackson was just helping me get cleaned up “I touch my hand to his chest hoping he will calm down, but it doesn’t seem to work. I turn to Jackson the most confused look on his face but also scared of his Alpha.

"Jackson, I think maybe you should go, I’ll catch up with you later " Clearly not wanting to be around Calder he nods and makes for a quick exit.

I turn back to Calder touching his face and his eyes instantly become the blue I’ve come to admire.

"Y*our bleeding* "

In the next instance I’m swept off my feet and being carried bridal style up the stairs, they eyes of pack members watching this clearly alien scene to them.
"You know I can walk Calder "

"*I know you can, but I would prefer to carry you* "

We get to his bedroom door.
"Actually, Calder could you take me to my room, I need to get a bag ready "

He nods and takes the short walk to my door, I try to wriggle down but he keeps a hold not letting me go until he softly places me on my bed.
I stand up gathering some stuff into a small backpack, an extra set of clothes, a towel and a notebook I suppose if I’m going to find out I have more powers I should write them down.

All the while I feel Calder watching me, checking the time and throwing on a hoodie over my sports bra I head towards the door, Calder following silently.

"Are you going to speak at all today?" I nudge his arm a we walk.

"*I was just admiring how graceful you are doing the simplest of things*" he smiles, and I feel my cheeks redden as we walk.

I’m also suddenly very aware of the eyes of others on us as we walk through his house.

"They are not used to seeing you smile, are they?" He doesn't say anything, but he nods changing his expression back to the hard emotionless one he normally does.

"*Selene, I assume you’re going out with your sisters to practice whatever it is you can do but promise me you'll be safe, and you will call out for me if there is any trouble* "

Once we reach the door, he pulls me in for an embrace gives Artemis short smile and walks away.
I will never get bored of how it feels to be held by him. I head over to my sisters and we start walking towards the forest.
I feel this rush of determination come over me if there was ever a time to give something my all this would be it.

When we reach the clearing setting the stuff down in one corner, Cynthia and I stand next to one another waiting for Arti to tell us the plan it’s always been this way when we trained with her.

Arti stands in front paces a few steps.

"*So girls I know we have done some training a little bit of fighting but what’s evident is that the both of you cannot control the gift , or at least when it starts to present itself its starts with your eyes glowing and I’m going to teach you how to turn it on and off* " As she says this she her eyes flash bright purple and then off again .

"Arti how did you do that?" We are both staring at her in shock.

"*I had a little help from mother she taught me the most important thing, she taught me to trust myself* "

Mother? she had lessons from mum I’ve never been more jealous, but I am hanging on her every word.

"*Ok first things first you have to know what it feels like when it starts to present itself , now im assuming both of you feel it when you get mad or upset but you have to know how to use that to bring it on all the time* "

She looks between us and continues .

"*Now mother spend a lot of time with me focusing on breathing to bring this out but we dont have time for this so im going to do this my own way , im not sure she would approve but the outcome of the lesson will be the same*"

The next thing i know Arti has Punched Cynth in the face and is flying towards me .

This is going to hurt .
