We Find Another Way

**Selene's POV**

Both Cynthia and Artemis are staring at me intently waiting for me to explain to them why I didn’t tell them I went back to our parents’ house and how I ended up being carried from the forest with blood coming out of my nose and ears.

I've been here before trying to explain myself to them , When Dot and I went to the club with fake Id's , When I tried to convince them I was doing great at school editing my report card only to find Arti had already been called by math teacher who told them I was failing . All those times I got in trouble I worked hard, and it was fine, but this is going to be different I won’t work hard to do what they want , I will keep resisting them and they need to know that.
I look up at Calder and he gives me a small reassuring nod and he moves away from the bed to join Sigi and Ryan Looking back at my sisters I suppose it’s now or never .

Mustering up all my courage I take both their hands in mine and begin.

"So, it started after you both agreed that to end this, we have to die I couldn't and still can’t accept that after all our parents went through to get us the moon goddess would just damn us to die. So after you both agreed that's what we would do I went looking for another answer I trained with you both like normal paying attention to what you taught me but unwilling to lose you both and I happened to find it in Calder's family library. "

I motions for Arti to pass me my bag now mostly empty bag from the floor I take hold of it and grab the book .

"A few days later I found this , I didn’t think it was important at first so I threw it to one side, until I heard voices when I looked at the book it was glowing in the moonlight , I moved it out and back like 8 times to make sure I wasn’t crazy and the voices were coming from the book I opened the pages again and all these weird symbols were lit up "

Cynthia looks at the book and motions for me to hand it to her she studies the cover in the same way I did running her finger through it until she reaches the last section where the pages have been ripped out stopping on the page that carries the symbol .

She looks between Arti in I her mouth a little open a loss for words as to what to say . Then Arti steps in eyes on the book .

"*So, this is why you put yourself in danger for a book ?*" The sarcasm and anger dripping from her words as she speaks .

She’s going to be harder to convince than I thought thanks fully Cynth seem content with listening to what I have to say .
"Of course I didn’t just decide to put myself in danger, I had to find answers I don’t know if I wanted to go home because I thought it would find the book but I knew in going home I would find something but I had try . I figured mum must have had something , she must have had something some answer to what out powers could do , what powers we might still unlock . Or even a way to stop Arlo . I couldn't just do nothing."

I wait for them to respond but neither of them do Cynthia squeezes my hand, but Artemis remains hard faced .

"When I got back to the house it looked the same as the day, we packed it up plastic sheets still covering the furniture it looked the same as they day they left, and it felt familiar. I went to mum and dads’ room to look first but we couldn’t find anything . So, I headed to dads study I searched the draws and one of them had a false bottom with a key hole I looked for it and then Calder found it in a box under the floorboards we opened it and found the second box "

Artemis holds both boxes in her hand .

"*So, these were in our house all along* ?" She has a look of shock on her eyes almost like she doesn't believe me. Cynth refocuses the conversation

"*So, Selene , what’s in the other box ?*"

"Well that’s the thing I don’t know before we could open it, we had to leave we heard voices outside, so I chucked them in the bag, and we left. We got about half way and realized that we were being followed but a pack of rouges and I knew they were going to catch up , I scrambled for an answer then Seleste told me to turn around and face them , to shift and tell them to stop "

Cynthia Gasps out loud and looked at Artemis and then me again but its Arti who asks me .

"*Selene , you stopped and faced a group of rogues is this how you ended up this way* "

She shoots an icy glare towards Calder like this is his fault .

"It wasn’t Calder fault I got injured he told me to shift back and to run but I didn’t listen Seleste told me I could do it . I waited for them to catch up when they did I felt a wave of power rush over me and I told them to shift back they all did but it was like they couldn’t help it you could see them trying to fight it but they couldn’t"

"*Selene your forced multiple wolves to shift back to human form* " Cynthia sounds like she both asking me a question and saying it with pride . I just nod and smile .

"And then ... well and then i forced them to leave i told them to not speak of seeing us so they did ... they turned around and left we didnt have to fight them . Then my body started to heat up it felt like the power was overflowing in me and I needed Calder to come down as soon as I touched him my mind started to go blank and the next thing I know I woke up in this bed with all of you around me "

I finish and neither of them say a word they just look at me , this continues for another 5 minutes until I can’t take it anymore .
"Will one of you say something ?"

To my surprise its Artemis first she seems to be contemplating the words before she speaks.

"*Selene I’m sorry* "

What?! Artemis just said sorry am I still unconscious I must be giving her an odd look .

"*i'm sorry that we made you feel like you couldn't come to us with how you felt , we imposed what we thought was right on you without even asking if you felt the same* "

"Wait so you’re not mad that I don’t agree with you plan ?" She’s moves up the bed and wraps her arms around me .

"*Why would I be mad that you choose to live Sel , that’s all I’ve ever wanted for you . I wanted you to grow up loved and cared for and I failed in that when you felt like you couldn't come to me* "

She wipes some stray tears from her cheeks as Cynth also moves up the bed to embrace both of us.

"*I could have helped you Selene , me and Cynthia could have come with you to the house we could have spent time searching the books for answers instead we decided on the easy way out* "

"What do you mean the easy way out , you two decided that you would sacrifice yourselves to save others you didn’t fail me you showed me what it means to fight for something that way you have fought for us our whole lives. You have given me everything and sacrificed so much to look after us. My choice was selfish I was afraid of losing you while you were concerned with saving others "

I pull them more into an embrace the three of us now crying like babies in the arms of one another . Cynthia is the first to pull away .

"*So, were doing this then ? we’re going to find another way ?*"

I look at Arti for reply hoping she is going to say yes and she gives a nod I huge smile spreads across Cynth’s face and she throws a look towards the corner where each of our mates are sitting in awkward silence trying desperately to not pay attention .
She looks back at us.

"*So, what happens now , what do we do next* " She seems excited at the thought of us doing something together .

"Well we need to work out when Arlo is going to strike again, and I think it’s going to be soon we also need to work out how we are going to kill him seeing as he is seemingly immortal"

Artemis leans forward and picks the bigger of the two boxes back up off the bed running her hands over the symbols a smile forming at the corner of her mouth .

"*How about we start by opening this ?*"

As she says this the three men in the corner make their way to the end of the bed , we don’t know what this book means of where the rest of it is and we have no idea what’s inside this box or if it will help us I don’t know .What I do know is that we are better and stronger together and I feel complete having them back with me .
