Merging

The days blur into an endless abyss of crying and thinking your fine until someone stops to ask you a question and you break down all over again. I go over what my father said about Sekreta over and over, could we be related to her and if we are where is she ? does she even know we are her family ?.
Calder sent people to look for her but with a limited description it was proving difficult and at this rate, she could be anywhere.

I'm then drawn to the thought of all those wolves we had to kill Calder Ryan and Sigi spoke to each one and explained to them, those of sound mind knew it was the right thing to do but others pleaded with them to be let go. When that day was over they were buried and flowers adorned their graves but when Calder came to bed that night he was more detached than I have ever seen him. We played in the arms of one another speaking few words until we both fell asleep.

It's a crisp Saturday morning, the day I promised Calder I would walk with him after breakfast so we could talk properly and so I could get some much needed fresh air, having spent the last four days in bed my hair starting to look more like a birds nest.

He takes me to the white rose garden where he realised I was his mate, as we walk through I can't help but touch the petals as we pass each one intricately flowering and craning towards the sun. We stop at the end and he guides me to the bench, a silence swirls between us but its not one that needs to break at least not for a while.

As we sit a million thoughts go through my mind, Cynthia and her baby, Artemis and the way I watched my strong sister break, that fact that she ripped the door off the cage and were almost certain she has some kind of ability again but no-one seems to be acknowledging it.

My father's words play over and over in my mind like a record player on a loop I see flashes of his face but it's not the face I'm used to anymore its scarred and broken like he was for so long . I think about all the things we have gone through in the last month or so all of of the heartbreak the anguish. How frightened I was before but how much more frightened i am now, I chuckle to myself as I think about that book I found in the library, how I spent hours searching languages hoping it would help me find all the answers so I could finally live and now I'm not even really sure what that means.

I wallow in the moment a little longer when my mind flashes to the wolf that snuck into the library that day.

"Calder, did you ever find out who it was that came into your family library ?"

The sound of my voice seems to snap him out of his trance. He looks at me his brows now creasing.
*"No we never did come to think of it, we were searching and then everything else just took over, why what's the matter ?*

He raises an eyebrow at me as he asks the question, Then it dawns on him what I'm thinking.

*"You think it was Sekreta ?"*

"I mean my father said she disappeared a few days before the fight what if it was her and she was looking for something to help her leave moreover what if she found it ?"

I stare wide-eyed at him waiting for him to respond. He doesn't say anything instead he stands up in front of me and places his and out a warming smile on his face.

*"Why don't we go back up the library and find out what she took ?*]

Part of me wonders why he's doing this, is it to humour me in my sadness? The other part of me admires the lengths he goes too to ensure I am happy. I place my hand in his as he lifts me from the bench. He starts to walk away from my hand still in his when I pull him back to me his body slamming against mine the warmth of his touch confirming what I already knew.

"I love you, you know"

He kisses my forehead and pulls away from me, the world seems to calm and my mind relaxes.

*"I know Selene, but I love you so much more "*

I roll my eyes at his cheesy line and scoff sarcastically as a smile forms across my face.

*"There's that smile I adore "*

We then walk hand in hand back towards the house in search of answers I don't think we will find but were doing it together and that's what matters.

We send the next few hours looking through books in the library checking for any cutouts, Calder watches the CCTV but the person only appears twice it's like they knew every detail of the house, what is clear in the video is that is is a woman, you cannot see what she takes but I look like a small and square.

I link my sisters to tall them and they seem shocked but are happy we may have found something however small it may be. They arrive shortly to view the CCTV with us and the more I watch it I can't help but notice the very faint blue glow she has around her as she moves.

As soon as the video is done the discussion begins, theories start flying everywhere about what she took and where she could be. After a while, it descends back into normal conversation but I cannot keep my eyes of Arti although she is present in the room her eyes have lost their glow I know she is mourning deeply and even the smallest incidences of happiness and familiarity won't help pull her from this what she needs is time. I take her hand in mine and squeeze letting her know I am always there for her I see Cynthia shoot a glance our way and I know she feels the same.

The rest of the evening passes by and for a short period of time, things feel like they were before.

**Calders POV**

The week that has passed since we all sat together have slowly been getting better every day a little more of Sel's light comes back to her eyes. Cynthia and Sigi are starting to get excited for there baby but Artemis always looks lost in darkness, the bags under her eyes more pronounced with each day, she trains but you can tell her heart is not in it as she crashes to the mat time after time.

I cant also tell something is wrong between her and Ryan so I asked him to come to my office, he's an Alpha now and sure he is new and it's not in his bloodline but I think he will be great and i want to help him.

He enters the room and to my surprise, Arti follows.
"Is everything okay ?"

I stare at them waiting for an answer Ryan takes Arti's hand and then speaks.
*"Calder, first of all, I want to say how grateful i am to you for having our pack here. We are forever in your debt for everything you have done for us and for helping us rebuild our home. But it only makes what I'm about to say harder "*

I stare at them both these two people who are older than me in years but right now look like scared children.

*"Calder, I'm not cut out to be Alpha and there are so few of our pack left that we have been thinking maybe you should take over " *

The second he says this he drops his gaze int he same way a normal wolf would to their Alpha.

"You can't be serious they are your pack, both of you are going to be an amazing Alpha and Luna and ill be there to help you every step of the way !"

*"We know you will which is why I propose you merge the pack and make me your second beta I will live with the pearl moon pack but you'll be in charge. They respect you and they've come to love your people like there own and on top of they Cynthia and Selene are here its a way to keep everyone together "*

I can tell from the determination on his face that he is not going to take no for an answer.

"Guys I can't do this, it's your pack."

Artemis chimes in now.
*"Well actually you can, we held a meeting with them last night and they accept the plan they are just waiting for you to accept them. I know this will make Selene happy "*

A smirk appears on her face and brings light to it for the first time in a while, she knows I would do anything to make her Sel happy.

"And your sure this is what you both want ?"

*"Yes we are sure, its the right thing to do Calder Arti and I have spoken of this in great detail even before the attacks we knew it was always going to be the best choice "*

"Then I guess I have no choice, I'll make the arrangments "

They both nod and smile looking like a weight has been lifted from both of them as they head to the door Artemis stops and faces me
*"Calder, I'm really glad Selene and Cynthia have you and Sigurd to watch over them now "*

Her words confused me a little but I just smiled as soon as they left I took a deep breath in. I can't lie this merger would be amazing for Selene and I. I know she will be so happy and my pack have come to love hers this does feel like a natural progression for us.

Selene bursts through the door and runs towards the desk throwing herself on my lap.

*"Calder I'm so excited you said yes !"*
Her eyes are bright with happiness in a way I have not seen for a while.

"Wait you knew ?"

*"Of course I knew Arti left her link open the whole time and I was at the other meeting. I've even been thinking we should change our name to incorporate both. What do you think of the Silver-pearl pack? "*

The happiness she feels right now is worth everything we have been through together.

*"Everything is arranged for tomorrow, your mum helped so you can accept the pack as your own "*

I laugh at her knowing I should have known everything would have been sorted before I said ye
