Too Dangerous

**Selene's POV **

I’m waiting for an answer to my question, but he doesn’t seem to have one I feel my face wrinkle into a frown , what is he hiding from me.

"Calder ? "

His eyes meet my own the usual icy blue somehow muted and not as bright .

*"Oh, its nothing Selene , I wanted to let you know that I have decorated the office next to mine for you , I did not want you to be mad that I had already decorated it "*

His words were rushed, and they fumbled as he spoke like he himself was not sure of what he may say next .I don’t press him any further merely turn my head to the tv .
"Oh okay "

I flick through the movies on the tv Calder sat rigid besides me, his shoulders tense and back dead straight . I know he is lying but why what could he possibly be keeping from me after two weeks of being married .

The rest of the even goes by in a blur neither of us paying much attention to the actual movie bot stealing half glances at each other like we are trying to figure each other out, Calder didn’t relax all night whatever is bothering him is not bothering me too .

I look away and link Seleste , maybe she will know what we can do to get him to tell us .
"Seleste help me , we need to get him to open up to us. What could he be hiding ?"

**"Sel I don’t know but I can reach Arvid either , it’s like he’s blocking me out "**

"Okay maybe I’ll just ask him again it can’t hurt right ?"

**"I suppose not , let’s try it and see "**

With a smallest pang of confidence, I turn the tv off and twist my body towards him .

"Look Calder , I know you’re not telling me the truth you have been acting weird and tense since I asked you what you were talking about earlier"

He doesn’t respond to let his gaze meet my own .

"Whatever it is you have to tell me let’s just get it out, we are supposed to be Alpha and Luna , Husband and Wife and your already keeping secrets it doesn’t exactly feel like we are a united front right now"

I wait for him to respond feeling the lump forming in my throat with each second , but he does not , he doesn’t even turn to face me . Taking it as sign the conversation is over I pull myself up off the sofa and head to the bedroom without saying a word and closing the door behind me .

I’m sitting on the edge of the bed hoping that he will come in any second , five minutes pass and then another fifteen and nothing. I can hear him moving on the other side of the door it sounds as though he is pacing .

I climb back onto the bed letting all the bad thoughts I’ve ever had about Calder creep back in.
What if this is all a joke to him ?.
What if he was just using us to kill Arlo so he could then take over the packs ? .
What if he never meant it all the times he said he loved me ?.

With each passing though they all seem more ridiculous of course he does want and love me , and he wouldn’t have lost so many of his own or took us all in when we lost our house if he was as cold as I once thought .

I must have drifted off to sleep after my internal battle when I’m woken softly by the sound of Calder's voice .

*"Selene. Selene wake up "*

As I open my eyes I can see he is sat on the end of the bed , looking towards the window I must have been asleep for a few hours it’s now complete darkness outside .
Running my fingers through my hair as I sit up leaning my back on the headboard holding my knees close to my chest , I look at him and see that softness I’ve grown to love in his half smile .

*"Look Sel , you were right I have been keeping something from you but before I tell you I want you to know that it’s not because I wanted to, I just didn’t know how to tell any of this . In fact I’m still not sure , but your right we shouldn’t hide things from one another, and then you spend the night in this room alone on what should have been our time together and I hurt me a little to see you upset and knowing I was the cause . "*

I stare at him blankly not really knowing what to say as a response I can only muster a small nod urging him to continue. He takes a deep breath and pulls himself to sit beside me at the top of the bed, his shoulders still tense, and he rubs his temples with one of his hands.

I pull his hand away hoping my touch may help him calm down.
"You know whatever it is , it’s going to be alright ?"

*"When we caught some of those wolves , the plan was to study them to work out what had been done to them and maybe help them ,maybe release them I don’t know. The mix of them all was weird some seem so far gone they only saw Arlo , they are dangerous .Arlo injected them with his own blood in the hope that it would make them like him so he could have his own personal army . He led rouges in and then destroyed what little identity they have left " *

I try to say something, but the words don’t come out , how could he have done this to people, the more I learn about him the more I’m able to live with killing him .

*"The other's however showed signs of knowing who they were , some were asking for out help and the plan was that we were going to try and fix them , maybe help them lead some sort of normal life " *

"What do you mean the plan was ?"

*"Well there was one man down there , he was older and stronger than the rest but also more mutated when I first saw him I swore I saw a little spark of humanity in him . We tried to get him to talk be he wouldn’t , until yesterday ." *

I can see the struggle in his eyes like he’s trying to form the next sentence .

*"He told us a lot about Arlo and about the wolves he had injected , and then he told us that we would not be able to save them. He also told us that some of those wolves we have captured and we killed were not rouges, they were members of the packs he has destroyed he used them to test his weird theory and injected them with his own blood forcing them to fight for him "*

A small gasp escapes my lips , as the shock of what he is saying settles in . Some of those we fought probably didn’t want to be there , some of them could have been from my old pack .

*"He then told us that we wouldn’t be able to save them , he said the more they were injected the more they lost their minds and it would be the same for the ones who seemed to still know who they were eventually they would lose sight of themselves and letting them go would put people at risk the only way to help them is to kill them all . All of those wolves were dead from the very moment they were injected "*

"You mean we have to kill all of them ?"
I can feel a tear sliding down my cheek , now I know why he kept this from me.

*"Yes Sel , we are going to have to kill them all , we will do it in a way where they feel no pain "*

I nod at him knowing he has thought about this , but I cannot accept it until I ask.
"Calder , I’m sorry I have to ask is there nothing more we can do for them ? , Maybe the wolf that is helping can tell us more ?. He seems more human than the rest what snapped him out of it ?"

He looks down at his hands an I see the small wrinkles forming on his head .

*"Selene that’s not all . The wolf that helped us has been with Arlo for quite some time he snapped out of it long enough to tell us because he heard Artemis voice "*

"What do you mean , he heard her voice and then snapped out of it ?"

His eyes meet me own again has he lifts up his head .

*"Selene , he snapped out of because ....Well because he knows her "*

"What are you talking about how he knows her ? who is he ?"

He takes my hand in his and squeezes.

*"Selene , the wolf in the cage if your father "*

His words replay over and over , hitting me in the chest harder each time they circle back around. I can feel my hands shaking and my body getting hot .

"Calder your lying my father is dead "
I pull away from him and stand up off of the bed .

"He can’t be , my father died Calder you know this why you would say this to me ?"

He slides across to my side of the bed grabbing both of my hands and pulling me towards him .

*"Selene , I promise you with everything I am that he is your father, I would not tell you this if it wasn’t true I would never put you through this "*

As I stare down at him I know he is telling the truth .
My father is alive , after all this time he survived . A bubble of excitement rises in my stomach as I think about my father face about seeing him again .

Then it all comes crashing down as I remember what Calder said , *We are going to have to kill them all*. Surely he can’t mean my dad too , I mean it’s my dad for moon goddesses’ sake .

"Calder you can’t kill him, you just can’t he’s my father " I’m pleading with Calder dropping to my knees Infront of him my eyes blurry as I try to process all of this information .

*"Sel , I’m sorry but we have to . He is too dangerous."*

Hid words feel like he has plunged is claw into my chest and is piercing my heart . I can do nothing but sob , deep down I know he is right, but it doesn’t make it any easier .

Between breaths I manage to ask him .
"Do Arti and Cynth know ?"

He nods
*"Yes, Ryan and Sigi just finished telling them"*

My mind instantly flashes towards them how they must be feeling .

"Calder I need to see them please can we go now "

*"We can yes but there’s one more thing Sel ."*

What more could there be to this story my whole world just turned upside down again .

*"Your father , he is asking to see you all "*
