Chapter 21 I'm Even Bolder
"Jane needs me for something," I casually lied.
By the time I arrived at the Cloud Hotel parking lot in the middle of the night, Jason was already covered in injuries.
There were three or four chubby men wearing large gold chains, smoking cigarettes. When they saw me, they began to mock, "Is this the backup you found? A fragile woman?"
"Perhaps she's here to spend the night with us and make up for your mistakes," another man said, even more vulgarly.
I walked up to Jason, helping him up. This young man, who had been fine before, now had a swollen and bruised face, unrecognizable and in a pitiful state.
"Mrs. Harrison, I work part-time as a parking attendant here. I accidentally scratched their car, and they demanded that I compensate them with $100,000. I don't have that much money..." Jason quietly told me the whole story.
"What kind of car? Let me see," I asked.
Jason pointed to a white Kia Rio not far away. Under the dim lights, its value didn't exceed a hundred thousand dollars. Why would they demand such a large compensation for a small scratch? What kind of good business was this?
"So, bitch, have you figured out how you're going to compensate us?"
"You're skinny, and your breasts aren't even as big as mine. Sleeping with you once isn't enough!"
Hearing the vulgar words from the chubby men, Jason unexpectedly mustered the strength to stand up, his bloody hand pointing at them. "Watch your mouths! I won't hesitate to fight back if you say those words again!"
I was slightly surprised. Do all college students have such valor?
I had thought that he had only called me to hide behind me, pitifully waiting for me to resolve the issue.
Jason's display of courage obviously sparked the anger of the chubby men. I stepped in front of him, coldly raising an eyebrow. "Wait for three minutes."
After speaking, I made a phone call.
This was the territory of the Cloud Hotel, and Jason was working part-time there. The responsibility of quelling the situation should have fallen on the hotel management, but nobody stepped out.
"You think you're something? We're prominent figures in New York. Just ask around, who doesn't know me? You bring ten people, and I'll bring a hundred. Believe it or not?" The chubby men's voices were filled with arrogance.
The tone of his words was not insignificant, but unfortunately, I had never heard of someone like him before.
Just a group of social scum.
I hung up the phone and smiled.
In less than three minutes, the general manager of Cloud Hotel appeared in front of me and greeted me politely, "Mrs. Harrison, what brings you here?"
"My friend works part-time at your hotel and was beaten up by these guys. Do you know how to handle this?" I asked calmly.
"What? Someone dares to bully Mrs. Harrison's friend?" The general manager immediately turned his head to look at the three fat guys. "Just you three?"
The fat guys seemed a little stunned. Cloud Hotel was a five-star hotel, one of the largest in New York. They naturally knew they couldn't afford to offend someone like me.
Sometimes, power can be very useful. Even the most arrogant person has to bow their head.
The fat guys, who were full of momentum a few moments ago, didn't even know my identity, but under the intimidation of the hotel general manager, they respectfully apologized to me and compensated Jason for his medical expenses.
As the fat guys reluctantly prepared to leave, I spoke again, "Wait."
Then I turned to Jason and said, "Go on, give each of them a slap."
"Mrs. Harrison..." Jason was stunned, his eyes blurred by blood. There was a slight fear and hesitation. It was already good enough to receive compensation for medical expenses. He surely hadn't thought about retaliating.
"What are you afraid of?" I grabbed Jason, brought him in front of the fat guys, and said, "Learn something!"
After saying that, I fiercely slapped one of the fat guys in the face. Jason was stunned. I knew he wouldn't hit them, so I did it for him. I slapped the other two men with the same intensity.
Their eyes were burning with anger, but they didn't dare to fight back.
"Now get lost." My palm was tingling, and I impatiently gestured for them to leave.
The parking lot quickly returned to calm. The hotel general manager invited me for a cup of coffee, but I wasn't interested in having coffee with a stranger late at night, so I declined.
Meanwhile, Jason was completely dumbfounded. Since the moment I started hitting those men, he seemed to have never come back to his senses.
"Let's go, I'll take you to the hospital." I naturally held Jason's hand and led him outside the parking lot where my car was parked.
"Mrs. Harrison, I can go by myself!" Jason said anxiously.
"Don't talk nonsense." I deliberately glared at him.
On the way to the hospital, Jason and I chatted. I learned that his father had injured his foot two days ago and was hospitalized. So, Jason wanted to work part-time for a few more days before school started, trying to save enough money for his tuition fee.
The reason he called me for help was because he had a hunch that I could help him.
I suddenly understood why Lauren in the previous life gradually fell for Charlie. When faced with problems she couldn't solve, just a wave of a hand and a few words from him would immediately solve everything for her. Who wouldn't be tempted?
No one can choose their own background, but they can choose shortcuts.
After helping Jason take care of his wounds at the hospital, I dragged my exhausted body back home. I really couldn't afford to stay up late.
Charlie was sleeping on his side as I got back from taking a shower and slid into bed, ready to have a good night's sleep.
"Having fun?" Charlie suddenly spoke, his voice slightly hoarse.
I had just closed my eyes when I immediately opened them again. "Did I wake you up? Just endure for a couple more days, and once your parents leave, this won't happen again."
"Rosalie, don't test my patience," Charlie said, his words indicating his bad mood.
"What did I do to you?" I was so tired now, and I had to guess his thoughts.
"While my parents are at Maple Villa, you dare to go out and meet other men? Do you want to die?" Charlie turned around, anger filling his eyes.
We stared at each other for a few seconds, and suddenly I felt guilty. Did he discover that I didn't go to see Jane?
Charlie had been restraining himself for the past few days, but I was even bolder than him, going to support a male college student in the middle of the night and accompanying him to the hospital for treatment.
"Okay, I got it. I won't post any status updates and won't go out when your parents come here next time. I'll be more careful," I summarized.
After saying that, I wanted to continue sleeping, but Charlie seemed to have a sudden impulse. He turned over and pressed himself onto me, his arms on either side of my head.
His muscular lines were very sexy when exerting force. Combined with his good looks, it was simply a hormonal overload.
I instantly woke up because I felt something wrong pressing against me.
"Charlie, did someone drug you?" I remembered the last time he played tricks on me, and the small wave of emotions that had just sprung up inside me had calmed down. "Do you recognize who I am now?"
Charlie wasn't some innocent and pure-hearted guy. He knew what he was doing.
The anger in his eyes seemed to change its quality as his slender fingertips teased the strap of my pajamas.
