Chapter 09 Interrogation
I was taken aback. So Jane found a pimp?
Under the influence of alcohol, I intentionally tiptoed closer to this man and said, "Well then, let's see if I can withstand loneliness."
After saying that, I turned and left. I'm not really interested in these types of men, especially those who clearly have ulterior motives. I dislike them even more.
Jane was not far behind me, doing who knows what. When she saw me approaching, she hurriedly ran back to her seat.
"I can't handle alcohol, I'm going back to sleep." I covered my head, feeling a bit dizzy. If I got too drunk, my mom would scold me when I got back home.
"I'm heading back too, I have to work tomorrow." Tina also got up, and you could tell she wasn't very fond of her job.
Jane pouted, "It's still early! You're all leaving. It's no fun being alone. Let's go!"
She settled the bill, exchanged greetings with those handsome guys, and the three of us left.
We each called a driver and said our goodbyes. Jane smiled mischievously and said, "Rose, if you go out for drinks with handsome guys, will Charlie get jealous?"
"Don't mention him, it's not a good omen." I was already sitting in the car, waving my hand at Jane.
"Goodbye!" She seemed blissfully unaware, happily getting into her BMW and driving off.
I instructed Tim to drive, then closed my eyes and rested on the backseat.
When we were getting close to my house, a sudden brake brought me back to reality. I was startled. "Tim, what are you doing?"
"Madam, it looks like Mr. Bennett's car." Tim pointed at the Bugatti blocking the road.
How did Charlie appear on the route to my house?
"On the road?" I rubbed my temples and said, "Alright, Tim. You can drive my car back home first. It's getting late."
"Okay." Tim was skilled at driving and quickly turned around and left.
My house was only a five-minute walk from here. I walked past the Bugatti and prepared to walk home.
Charlie got out of the car and stood in front of me. He looked very upset, with anger in his eyes.
"Come on, explain to me, what's this?" Charlie opened his phone and showed me the WhatsApp status.
Wasn't this the scene where I deliberately teased that man in front of the bathroom in the bar? I stood on tiptoe and got very close to the man's face, looking very ambiguous.
I noticed the WhatsApp status was posted by Jane.
She even added a caption that made a big deal out of it: "With so many good men in the world, Rose doesn't have to be single anymore."
I couldn't help but laugh. "Quite interesting!"
"Rosalie!" Charlie gritted his teeth and called out my name, his handsome face covered in frost.
"Wasn't it your idea? That we do our own thing? Why are you questioning me about this again?" I adjusted my attitude and counter-questioned Charlie.
Charlie sneered, "We can do our own thing, but who told you to post it?"
I almost forgot, Charlie and I were part of the same circle, including Jane. That Status of hers would definitely be seen by Charlie's friends. If it were people that he usually didn't get along with, they would definitely mock him about this.
A man's ego can't withstand such provocation, especially if it's someone as dignified as Charlie.
No wonder Jane was so cheerful tonight, deliberately trying to anger Charlie.
"Alright, next time I'll tell Jane and the others not to post it." My head was really spinning. I didn't want to argue with Charlie here. I just wanted to go home and bury my head in sleep.
After saying that, I turned around to leave, but Charlie grabbed my hand.
I felt like my bones were about to be crushed, lacking enough fat to protect me. I let out a painful cry, "Ouch!"
Then, quickly lowering my head, I bit down on Charlie's forearm.
Charlie must have been shocked by my extreme reaction as he didn't immediately shake me off. He let me bite him. His forearm was sturdy, and it tasted good.
"Are you crazy?!" Charlie finally remembered to shake me off. He grabbed me by the back of my neck, lifting me away like he was holding a dog. There was a complete bite mark on his forearm, and one could count how many teeth I had.
I looked at Charlie with a dark gaze, feeling a surge of unwavering bitterness in my heart. I had liked him for so long, but I had never left a trace on him. On the other hand, Lauren, who came after me, had left countless love bites on his neck. I had seen it several times in my previous life.
At that time, they should have already been passionately in love.
Leaving a bite mark could be considered a way of making up for my regrets.
"Charlie, you're not qualified to question me."
"After spending so many years with you, I can't even count the number of women. Don't I have any dignity left? Is there no one who will mock me behind my back?" I wiped my lips, tasting the faint, metallic tang of blood. Charlie should have been bleeding from my bite.
Charlie replied coldly, "Didn't you bring this upon yourself? Back then, someone forced you to promise Grandfather that you would marry me, didn't they?"
Of course not. At that time, let alone anyone forcing me to agree, if anyone didn't agree, I would have taken a knife to force them.
I hoped that with time, feelings would develop, and I believed that Charlie would be moved by me and fall in love with me someday.
"Yes, I brought this upon myself, but people always change. Now I've come to terms with it. Can't I be free from my one-sided wishes?" I retorted.
"No, you can't!" Charlie's response was as icy as ever. "You chose the wrong path, so you must pay the price."
"Charlie, do you believe that in the near future, you will actively propose a divorce and wish for me to disappear from your world?" I asked suddenly, one year's time, neither too long nor too short, perfect for a bet.
Charlie looked at me coldly. "Rosalie, what kind of dream are you having?"
His desire for revenge was so strong that he hurt himself while hurting the enemy.
I sighed, "Why don't you believe it? Eventually, you will let me go. I had a bit too much to drink tonight, so I'm going home to sleep. You can go too."
"Go to Maple Villa to sleep." Charlie grabbed me like an eagle snatching a chick, effortlessly stuffing me into his car. Was he not allowing me to continue staying with my family?
I strongly protested, "No, I won't go to Maple Villa. Open the door!"
Charlie glanced at me, ignoring my protest. The car quickly left my house and headed toward Maple Villa.
Restless, I glared at Charlie, "Take me back, I have left something at home!"
"What did you forget?" he asked lightly.
"A medicine packet." I was genuinely speechless. Was it so hard to have a cup of medicinal soup?
"Do you have a terminal illness?" He lacked conversational skills. It's no wonder so many people hoped for his bankruptcy, especially those he had trampled upon.
I smiled and said, "That's not it. I'm just too thin. I want to nourish my stomach and become a plump beauty."
Charlie seemed to remember something, and his already icy expression grew even colder.
