Chapter 25 Suddenly Becoming Internet Famous

Maple Villa

During lunchtime, Elizabeth saw me come back and respectfully greeted me.

I glanced at the delicious-looking dishes on the table and remembered Charlie and Lauren whom I just saw. Suddenly, I lost my appetite and went upstairs without touching the food.

"Madam, are you feeling unwell? Shall I call a doctor?" Elizabeth kindly asked as she followed me.

Since I forgave her for breaking the skincare product incident, she has become even more considerate towards me.

If she weren't Lauren's mother, I might actually like this type of maid.

"No, I just don't feel like eating. You can have the other servants join you," I answered irritably while lying on the bed.

Elizabeth didn't dare to say anything and quietly left the room.

In my scattered thoughts, I fell asleep. If it wasn't for Jane and the others bombarding me with phone calls, I could have slept until the next day.

Jane's loud voice was filled with excitement. "Damn! Goddess! The cello goddess from New York University is back in the public eye!"

"Huh?" I was a bit groggy and didn't understand what she was saying.

"I sent you the link, take a look, right now!" Jane said and hung up.

I saw missed calls from Tina and Yolanda on my phone. They had both called three times.

A WhatsApp message from Jane appeared, and with narrowed eyes, I clicked on the link. It was a video of today's performance in the concert hall of New York University.

I was sitting on the far left, filmed by someone unknown, occasionally zooming in on me, as if secretly admiring me.

Then there were a bunch of online users praising me madly.

"A graceful beauty!"

"The former goddess of the New York University Music Department!"

I watched with excitement, completely awake.

Who doesn't like being praised? This was the first time I really enjoyed this feeling.

I've received compliments from many people since I was young, but most of them were due to my father's status. This was the first time I attracted countless people purely because of my personal charm.

Jane called right on time, immediately after I finished watching. "How about it? Unexpected, right? Suddenly becoming famous!"

"It is a bit unexpected." I felt delighted. "It seems like my charm hasn't diminished after all!"

"That's for sure. Back then, you were just blinded by Charlie. There were so many people pursuing you, yet you insisted on being a lowly unrequited lover there." Jane brought up those things, still indignant.

"Those are memories I'd rather not dwell on. I'm happy now." Reminiscing about the past, I felt a bit melancholic.

"If you're happy, let's have a drink. I happen to be free. Let's capitalize on your newfound online fame." Jane started fantasizing about the future. "And then the four of us can form a band. Yolanda can be the lead singer, and the three of us can accompany her. It'll be perfect!"

I felt like Jane had a bit too much free time.

All sorts of unrealistic fantasies came to mind, and I replied, "Never mind the future, where are you? Let's have a meal together, without drinking alcohol."

I had been hungry all day, and my plan to gain weight couldn't be interrupted.

Jane agreed without hesitation. "Sure, I know a restaurant with great food. The meals there are even better than those I've had at five-star hotels. I'll send you the address!"

After receiving the restaurant address, I changed into a different outfit and set off.

To my surprise, I actually ran into my dad at the restaurant's entrance. He was chatting with some friends, and it seemed like they had just finished eating.

"Dad!" I called out.

"Rose, what are you doing here?" My dad was also surprised to see me, and his friends glanced at me one by one.

One observant uncle immediately spoke up, "Isn't your daughter the beautiful violinist from New York University that went viral today? She's quite popular online!"

My dad must have seen it too, as a touch of pride appeared on his face, but he restrained his tone, saying, "She studied violin in college, though she wasted a few years."

"Wasted a few years and still playing at such a high level? Your daughter is amazing!"

"Her appearance is also good. She looks like a young lady from a wealthy family."

Listening to these flattering comments, I felt a little proud yet embarrassed. With my skinny appearance, how could I resemble someone pampered and privileged?

Just then, Jane's phone rang impatiently. I quickly said to my dad, "Dad, my friend is still waiting for me. I'll go in first!"

"Go ahead, I also need to go back." My dad waved his hand.

I nodded and walked toward the restaurant. Suddenly, I wanted to tell my dad that I would come back for dinner in a few days, but when I turned around, I saw a woman in her forties get out of my dad's car.

She stood under a streetlight, bathed in bright light. She was wearing a short skirt with a round neckline, a classic black and white combination, exuding both charm and intellect.

She respectfully bowed to my dad, her cleavage just the right amount of alluring, not too obvious yet slightly tempting.

My dad said something to her, then got into the backseat. The woman took the driver's seat. My dad's driver was a man. Has he changed to a female driver now?

I felt puzzled and had a particularly uncomfortable feeling.

"Rose, what are you doing at the entrance? Are you welcoming guests?" Tina had just arrived and jokingly tapped my shoulder when she saw me lost in thought.

"I was waiting for you, being your personal welcome party. Aren't you moved?" I snapped back to reality, smiled, and grabbed Tina's arm. "Let's go, Jane is driving me crazy with her impatience!"

As Tina and I chatted while walking, we arrived at the reserved private room. Opening the door, a gentle fragrance filled the air, and the hidden speakers in the corner of the room played beautiful classical music, creating a refreshing feeling.

Jane was posing with a glass of water, asking Yolanda to take stunning photos of her. She would post them to tease her backup male admirers.

Previously, I thought Jane was a frivolous woman who didn't understand the charm of love. Now, I increasingly saw her as someone very clear-minded.

"Rose, Tina, you're here." Seeing us, Jane abandoned her coquettish pose.

Finally sitting like a normal person, she waved at us with a cheerful smile. "Come, have a seat! I've already ordered the dishes. Trust me, they'll be amazing!"

Tina and I sat down at the tea table. "Alright, we trust you!"

The four of us sat together at a table, and the beautiful waitress wore an elegant green dress, adding a touch of style.

As we drank our coffee, the food arrived, and indeed, each dish tasted excellent.

Just as the waitress opened and closed the door, I caught sight of Charlie and Dylan passing by outside.
