Chapter 63 Check Me

Jason, however, was somewhat candid, "I don't need one."

"Why not? Are you planning to live in solitude due to heartache?" I smiled and asked while eating vegetables.

"It's not that, just..." Jason hesitated to speak and eventually laughed. Instead of answering the question, he peeled a few shrimps and placed them in my bowl. "Mrs. Harrison, you're too thin. You need to eat more."

I also didn't want to be so thin, but I don't know why my weight gain plan never goes smoothly. From my rebirth until now, I've only gained a total of three to four pounds and occasionally even lose weight.

Perhaps it was because Elizabeth got fired too early. If she had cooked for me for a while longer, who knows, I might have gained enough to reach a three-digit weight and join the ranks of good figures.

Jason was considerably younger than me, yet we managed to chat away.

After spending enough time together, I could still sense a certain immaturity in him. For example, his views on many things were quite naive, seeing everything as either black or white. I didn't argue with him, just went along with a few things he said, and he would smile happily, evidently pleased that we shared the same opinions.

After finishing the buffet, Jason and I left the restaurant. Since Tim had already taken the car back, I needed to take a taxi home today.

"It's snowing again." I looked at the snowflakes falling from the sky, reaching out my hand with some delight and catching a few, carefully observing their shapes.

"Mrs. Harrison, do you like milk tea?" Jason put his hands in his jacket pockets, and his breath formed white mist as he spoke.

He had double eyelids, relatively large eyes, and long eyelashes. Some people say that the eyes of college students are clear but somewhat foolish. They may be right, it suits him well.

I used to drink milk tea a lot when I was in college, but I gradually drank it less after getting married.

On a day like this, having a cup of hot milk tea seemed nice.

I nodded, and Jason immediately ran to a nearby milk tea shop. The shop was crowded, and he waited patiently in line.

Just then, my phone vibrated. Rubbing my cold, red hands together, I took out my phone from my pocket. It was Charlie calling.

"Hello?" I answered the call and sniffed before speaking.

"Where are you?" Charlie's voice was cold.

"I'm near Love Milk Tea Shop. Why?" I looked around and asked in return.

"With whom?" Charlie got straight to the point.

I was somewhat confused. What does it have to do with him? Even according to his previous rules, Jason couldn't be considered his close friend.

So, I decided to ask him as well, "And you? Where are you?"

After two seconds of silence on Charlie's end, he replied, "Aren't you aware?"

"With whom?" I probed.

"I came with Lauren, but now I'm alone in the hotel." Charlie's response was unexpectedly quick and detailed.

This caught me off guard, leaving me speechless with the phone pressed against my ear.

After a while, I finally spoke again, "You called suddenly just to ask me this? How dare you suspect me? You always go and have fun with your mistress, and I never question you. Charlie, how dare you question me!"

I learned this from the internet, that women shouldn't argue logically, and when you're left without words, it's time to turn the tables.

Sure enough, Charlie was speechless from my retort. After a deep breath, his breathing was audible through the phone as he said, "Take care of Dylan's cat and then take Dylan's cat and Lauren's ex-boyfriend to the pet store. Rosalie, how do you know how to play like this?"

"How do you know?" I blurted out. It was normal for Charlie to know that I was taking care of Dylan's cat because I posted it on Twitter. But how could he know that Jason and I were together?

At that moment, a WhatsApp notification popped up, and I quickly glanced at it.

Dylan: Charlie and I were together when he sent me the video, and we were...

He saw it.

"Mrs. Harrison, your pearl milk tea, the original flavor is great!" Jason had already bought the milk tea and ran over, his voice loud.

Upon hearing his words, Charlie bluntly said, "You fuck, just you wait for me," and hung up the phone.

Why would I be afraid of him? I'll just enjoy my milk tea first. Besides, Charlie is unpredictable, who knows what he's angry about.

"Thank you!" I smiled and thanked Jason.

"You're welcome, Mrs. Harrison," Jason's face was a bit red, either from the cold or being shy, then he whispered a compliment, "You look beautiful today."

I was delighted. Every woman likes being called beautiful, and even my milk tea tasted a bit sweeter.

Drinking milk tea in the snow while chatting with a guy was a completely new experience for me. Many guys pursued me during my college years, but once they found out that my ultimate goal was Charlie, they wisely backed off.

Naturally, I never got to experience all the romantic things, and the romance I tried to create with Charlie was completely ignored.

After finishing the milk tea, I called a car and took Jason back to Maple Villa because his cat was still at my house, and he needed to take it back.

"Why are you standing there? Come in!" When we arrived at the doorstep, Jason seemed uneasy, as if he was afraid to enter.

After urging him, he changed into a pair of slippers and walked into the spacious and luxurious living room. Let's not talk about the price of this mansion itself, just the decoration here cost millions of dollars. I had gotten used to it, but Jason clearly hadn't. He was visibly uncomfortable, his face showing embarrassment.

Didn't Lauren feel this way? This wasn't her wealth, and yet a man had propelled her to the pinnacle of life.

Of course, I didn't create this wealth; I just happened to be born with strong technical skills.

When the cat saw its owner, it let out a surprised cry and clumsily but excitedly rushed over, jumping onto Jason's lap.

Bubu followed behind and came to my feet, brushing against me. I quickly picked it up.

Jason lowered his head and stroked the cat, then asked, "Mrs. Harrison, are you home alone?"

He must be asking if Charlie is home or not. That villain who stole his girlfriend and is now his enemy who Jason is powerless against.

"Well, he should be on a business trip with your ex-girlfriend," I admitted. Jason knew quite a bit, so there was no need to hide anything.

His face darkened a little when I mentioned Lauren. After all, she was the girl he had truly loved.

"Shall we have dinner before you leave?" I offered Jason to have dinner.

Jason shook his head, "No thank you, Mrs. Harrison, I have to go back to school."

I nodded.

"It's almost winter break, next semester I'll start my internship, and maybe I'll have more free time then, but it could also be busier than now," Jason said to me.

I was still thinking about a few things.
