Chapter 45 Will It Be My Fault?

Upon arriving home, Charlie instructed Elizabeth to prepare some sobering honey water, and I added, "Elizabeth, make some more for me too. I want to drink it."

Elizabeth respectfully replied, "Yes, madam."

Charlie took off his tie and tossed it onto the sofa. He leaned back with his eyes closed, resting. I stared at his jawline for a while, then shifted my gaze to his Adam's apple. Finally, my sight landed on his neck.

Under the contrast of his black shirt collar, I saw his fair neck and noticed a faint but distinct love bite.

Was it left by Lauren? No, that couldn't be. If Lauren actively gave Charlie a love bite, it would mean she had started accepting him. In that case, Charlie would have been ecstatic. He wouldn’t have come back.

“It must have been left by another woman,” I concluded in my heart.

Anyway, this kind of thing had happened before. Although many times it was just a one-time act without going further, it always made me uncomfortable. Now, I am more worried about Lauren in the future. I don’t know if she can accept this kind of life.

“However, for her sake, Charlie will surely choose to reject these casual encounters, right?” I self-mockingly thought to myself. Who made me so unlucky that, in ten years, Charlie hadn't made any sacrifices for me?

"Never mind, I won't drink the sobering honey water," I muttered, feeling upset. I got up and went upstairs.

As soon as I returned to the bedroom and was about to change clothes to take a shower, Charlie pushed open the door.

I looked surprised. "What are you doing here?"

Charlie didn't say a word. He just closed the door and locked it, then moved closer to me, making me feel both puzzled and uneasy.

Sure enough, Charlie not only drank alcohol but seemed to be burning with desire.

He lowered his head and slowly kissed my lips, his eyes filled with an intense and lingering passion. I wanted to push him away, but his hand was placed behind my waist, tightening its grip, making it impossible for me to break free.

"Charlie, what are you doing?" I asked, both confused and afraid.

"What?!" I felt my heart race as his lips left mine, his voice shocked and angry.

"Someone tampered with my drink, Rosalie..." Charlie's voice was low and restrained, leaning close to my face as if to reassure me, "I will take care of this as soon as possible."

After saying that, he lifted me up and placed me on the bed. My mind was empty, and I felt a bit disoriented.

Just as Charlie was stripping me naked, Elizabeth's voice came from outside the door, hesitatingly, "Madam... Have you gone to sleep? I've prepared the hangover honey water."

Both Charlie and I paused, and suddenly, I made up my mind. I lifted my legs and hooked them around his strong waist. Charlie's expression changed, becoming even more intense.

Inadvertently, I let out a moan, and then I heard Elizabeth's footsteps leaving outside.

"Charlie..." I held onto the last shred of rationality, looking at him and asking, "Will you blame me for this in the future?"

"What for?" Charlie kissed the corner of my lips and asked.

For intentionally letting your future mother-in-law witness our intimate act, for putting obstacles on your path to pursuing true love.

I silently answered in my heart, but I didn't say anything out loud. Instead, I deliberately tilted my head to kiss his Adam's apple. This was a seduction technique Jane had taught me, but I had never had the chance to use it before.

A few seconds later, I couldn't help but marvel at Jane's talent!

Throughout the night, we were entangled in each other's arms, experiencing utmost pleasure. All this talk of resolving the issue quickly was just a lie!

When I went downstairs supporting my waist, Elizabeth had already prepared breakfast. Seeing my peculiar walking posture, she had a knowing smile on her face that only someone with experience would have. "Madam, please have breakfast. I made chicken soup for you."

Blushing, I coughed twice and tried my best to avoid waddling like a penguin while walking.

"What about Charlie?" I asked while sipping the soup.

"Mr. Bennett left for the company early in the morning, without having breakfast," Elizabeth replied.

"Oh," I nodded. Charlie was always busy. There were so many things to handle at the company, and even in his free time, he either had social obligations or spent time with Clint and the others.

Those colorful rumors always found their way out.

Just after finishing breakfast, Jason called. I glanced at Elizabeth and answered the call, "What's up?"

"Mrs. Harrison, I feel really sorry about last night. I got drunk. How much is the room fee? I'll transfer it to you!" Jason said.

"It's okay. Are you feeling better now?" I asked gently.

"A little better. I've come to accept it. If Lauren truly likes me and hasn't changed her mind, she will continue to choose me with determination. I have to believe in her and do my best in this relationship, leaving the outcome to God." Jason's voice contained a sense of relief.

It seemed he listened to my advice. I was extremely relieved. "That's good to hear. I have some things to attend to, so we can chat next time."

I hung up the phone.

After that, I went upstairs to change my clothes and prepared to go out. I needed to talk to Yolanda. Yolanda hadn't been searching for commercial performances or competitions lately. Instead, she was busy preparing for her wedding. Arthur continued to work, so she entrusted many things to him.

Their wedding house had been decorated a long time ago, but they still needed to buy furnishings and plan the wedding ceremony, which were all quite troublesome. It should be completed by the end of the year.

"Rose, would you like some cheese bread? Arthur made it for me last night, and it's delicious!" When I arrived at Yolanda's place, she happily welcomed me.

"No, thank you, Yolanda. Has Arthur gone to work?" I glanced around. This was the house Yolanda and Arthur rented together, about 100 square meters, with two bedrooms and a living room. Compared to her big villa, it was quite humble.

Yolanda had decorated the house very warmly, and it showed her dedication to this relationship.

She brought out a plate of fruits and smiled. "Yes, he said he doesn't want to rely on my family and wants to work hard to provide me with a good life."

Such hypocrisy! A good man on the surface but secretly fooling around with other women in bars. I despised Arthur in my heart a thousand times.

"Yolanda, do you like celery?" I asked cautiously.

"Not really," Yolanda shook her head.

"How about spinach? Do you like it?" I asked again.

Yolanda shook her head again.

She never liked eating green vegetables. After repeating the names of the vegetables, she suddenly laughed. "Rose, why are you suddenly asking these questions? I used to dislike eating vegetables, but I have to force myself to eat them now."

I was taken aback. "Why?"

A gentle expression appeared on Yolanda's face as she touched her belly. "I haven't had the chance to tell you the good news. I'm pregnant, and it's only been a month and a half."

"What?!" I almost jumped up, and my complexion became extremely unsightly. "You're pregnant? Didn't you say you were planning to conceive after getting married?"

"Yes, but this child is a gift from God. Now that he's here, I'll accept him and take good care of him." Yolanda immersed herself in beautiful visions of the future. "I haven't told Arthur about this yet, but I'm sure he'll be very happy. We'll be a happy family of three in the future!"
