Authors pov
Kayla heart kept racing as she searched for Kevin . She needed his help in looking for Chelsea . She sighed as she sighted Kevin at the garden . She ran over to him , almost tripping on a stone.
" Take it easy , one step at a time "
Kevin spoke in a mocking tone like he was talking to a kid .
Kayla pov
I wanted to have it out with Kevin for making jest of me but I wasn't in the mood for that . I just wanted to find Chelsea real quick.
" Kevin there is a problem "
I spoke in a serious tone as she sat opposite him . Kevin knew that look . He knew she was being very serious right now .
" What's going on with you "
Kevin asked seeing the distress on her face.
" Kevin , Chelsea is missing '
I blurted as she let down her tears .
I found it so hard to control my emotions as I thought of the fact that Chelsea could be in serious danger.
" Hey , Kayla you've got to put yourself together and calm down. Have you tried reporting to the police "
I shook her head , as she broke into fresh tears . .
" That's the problem, Kevin . Chelsea parents has been held hostage when they were going to the police to make a report ".
Kevin stared at his sister , he really hoped it wasn't what he was thinking.
I continued talking before he could ask any question
" It's obvious who is behind this whole ordeal it is .....
I sniffed in my tears as I found it difficult to speak .
" The vampire king"
Kevin completed the statement for her . It was as he feared and he wasn't ready to get hiself involved .
" Kayla I think it's time for us to be realistic"
I stared at my brother confused . I was expecting him to say something reassuring but here he is saying we should be realistic.
" What do you mean by that "
Kevin closed his eyes trying to summon up courage to say whatever he planned on saying. He finally spoke up .
" This must be a warning from the vampire king to stay away from Chelsea "
I stared at Kevin in disbelief, I knew it was okay for him to be afraid but I wasn't expecting him to say this. He read the disappointment on my face so he went on to defend hiself .
" Com'on Kayla this Chelsea in question isn't even like us . She can just wake up one day and decide she doesn't want to have anything to do with a vampire , the more reason I doubt her feelings for Alaric " .
I was so shocked right now. I didn't want to believe this words where coming from my own brother . I said nothing as I stood up to leave .
Kevin pulled me back immediately, realising what he said didn't make sense at all .
" Ok . Am sorry Kayla I was only trying to chicken out from this whole situation"
I saw that he was very sincere, so I sat back . .
" So what plan do you have "
Kevin asked he wouldn't be doing this if his sister wasn't so stubborn. He understood the fact that Chelsea is a very good friend but he can't still understand why she is so special to Kayla .
" I think we should sneak into the vampires terrain " .
Kevin eyes widened in fear . He knew Kayla was daring but he didn't know she was this daring. He was going to refuse but was interrupted
" Don't tell me you are already chickening out or the thought of invading the vampires terrain makes you scared "
I said the words to sound very mocking as I know that was the only way to get Kevin to loosen up.
" So when do we move " .
I smiled as I saw the look of eagerness in Kevin . I knew he loved challenge a lot. .
" I would just go home and give mum and dad one or two excuses why we wouldn't be home for some days "
I stood up and walked towards their building, I planned on telling her mom I and Kevin had some research to do for a few days at a friend's place. I smiled as the lie sounded so believable as I rehearsed how to say it .
I knocked as I walked into my mum's room I met her reading a book .
" Hi Mom "
My mum looked up and smiled as she saw me.
"Oh my sweet heart how are you "
I sat down as I hugged her. She smiled and sniffed my hair in the way I love .
" So mum I have this project am working on , so we need to make some research and I was thinking if you would permit us , I mean I and Kevin to sleep over at a friend's place so the research can be faster "
I watched her expression as I spoke .
" That's no problem sweet heart, just make sure you stay safe " .
I couldn't stop my self from jumping in excitement as my mum agreed . I didn't want her to get worried that's the reason I asked for her permission
I pecked her on her cheek as I walked out of the room , heading straight to where Kevin was.
Kevin pov
I packed the flowers I picked into the basket as I stood up . I was actually afraid of sneaking into the vampires terrain but since Kayla didn't show any sign of fear I would be a coward to do that. I had to act like the man of the house. Immediately I saw Kayla jumping joyfully towards me , I knew she had gotten permission. I wondered why she was so sure she could rescue her friend from the vampire terrain. The way she smiled even made me want to believe it was possible .
" So Kevin we would leave when the sun goes down " .
Kevin nodded , he was ok with anything she said .
Authors pov .
Kevin and Kayla walked tiredlessly in the woods. They were following the map. Kevin paused when he heard movements. He knew immediately that they were surrounded. He was going to tell Kayla to run when some masked men grabbed Kayla on the neck and choked her on a piece of clothe. He struggled as the another did the same to him . They became unconscious.
