Ninety

Kayla's POV
I packed my hair into a tight bun and tucked it in a wide hair bonnet. I scratched my neck occasionally, as I was already beginning to get thirsty... Thirsty for most vampires want... Blood.
That's not what I should be thinking of at the moment. Right now, I'm really concerned about Torin's health.
What if he doesn't get better?
What is his blood Is over powered by silver?
I breathed heavily. It was supposed to be hunting time for me, since it's night, but there's no way I'll go out there feeding, while my second half is in his sick bed. Although Chelsea has reassured me that Torin was going to get better, I just can't get a hold of myself yet. My phone beeped. I quickly picked the call in a jolt of rushing adrenaline.
"Chels..." My voice was horridly pale.
"How're you Kayla." She asked, as if she doesn't know that I'm love sick at the moment.
" It's okay Kayla." I heard her say, then I heard her mumble some words, like she was playing with a nylon bag or something similar... Like I care.
"Let's go shopping tomorrow... For your birthday." She said.
Oh that makes sense somehow, but... The timing... Shit!
This exact period last year, I had struggled with Dera's death.
May the lord bless her heart. Dera was a cute happy dog anyways.
"What do you think about it?" I heard Chelsea ask. She must have realized I wasn't replying.
"Kayla..." She called out.
"Yeah..." I zooned back in and leaned on my strong reading table, tilting my head.
"Okay chels... I just hope Torin gets well..." I drooled.
"Oh... He'll be fine before your birthday party." Chelsea cut in.
"Birthday party?" I nearly choked. Okay ...we didn't talk about this earlier on. We had met this morning. She didn't mention anything regards throwing a birthday party for me. Or, is it to lighten up my mood.
Ooooo.... She's such a lovely girl.
"Kayla..." I heard her ask again. "Are you there..." She said before she cut the call.
I guess she thought the network was poor between us.
I was beginning to be expectant about how tomorrow is going to turn out.
I did not even think of how Chelsea was planning to throw a birthday party all alone. Besides, where's she gonna get the money fir tomorrow's shopping.
I put on my sleeping eye shield that blocks light rays and ensures I sleep like a human at night which is vampirely impossible. I should rather add this to the vampire dictionary or diaries.
Whichever...
I yawned... And zooned out.

Author's POV
"We need your car" Chelsea told kelvin in the most meek voice possible. One would have said she had a hidden crush for this guy with the tone she used and the way she tilted her head occasionally while talking. Kayla wriggled some keys in her hand and burst the door open.
"Get on" she instructed.
Chelsea stuck out a tongue at kelvin, kalya's twin brother, who in return cussed and rolled his eyes.
"Who's gonna drive?" Chelsea asked.
Just then, she heard the car kick start. "Wait... No way... Are you gonna drive us, Kayla?" Chelsea pointed.
"Why? Is there a problem with that?" Kayla spread her arms.
"She knows how to drive" kelvin took the seat beside her. "At least we'll enough to know when to hit brake" he added.
"What?" Chelsea exclaimed. " Does this mean..."
The car went moving, making screeching sounds, Jogging Chelsea to both side.
"She drives with top speed." Kelvin pointed with a big smirk.. Chelsea struggled to hold the seat belt tightly.
"Why does she do that?" Chelsea shouted. She could almost not hear her own voice because if the screeching sounds the car kept on making at each turn.
" I'm a fucking vampire, chels." Kayla shouted.
Chelsea felt numb fir a while. How on earth did Torin fall in love with this assole of a girl? She had wondered. Kayla kept staring at the side mirror, as though she was seeing something coming right behind their car.

Finally, they pulled to a stop Kayla did not undo her seat belt. She just sat there sighing.
"Kayla..."Kelvin tapped her glass when they dad alighted from the car.
"I'm good. Will join you guys in a while."Kayla replied, after winding the glass down.
Kayla tugged at her black thick cotton hand gloves and sighed heavily. She felt it. She was still feeling it. There were vampires there, at the mall. What were they doing there for Christ's sake? She fought the urge to punch the driving wheel. Of course, that will make the peem sound.
Chelsea's POV
I led the way. Kelvin was strolling behind with a trolly in his hand, pushing his way through. I collected Alaric's credit card. He had more than enough money to spare for the birthday party I planned to throw. A small girl ran past us, stepping on my toes with her hard heeled shoes. "Ouch" I said slowly bending down.
"Sorry ma'am." I hear her say. She was already close to me.
"Its okay " I told her, bending over to her height.
" Just don't trample on other people's toes, okay" I told her.
She nodded, feeling remorseful. Just then, it was as if some people wre throwing the supermarket wares at one another. Suddenly, the wine shelf behind the girl began to fall. The girl was looking at my horrid facial expression, trying to calculate. I found myself raising my hand in the air.
And vaaaaaa...
Something unexplainable happened.
Everyone around me was stiffened, as if they were cartoon characters paused by a tv remote. I was awed. What has happened just now? I questioned myself. There was no dam. Time for that. What I needed to do now is to save the small girl. I took her hand and dropped her at the check out point.
It was as though everyone was waiting for me, ass well as the falling shelf of expensive wines. Seriously, I don't know how on earth such a thing is happening. Who's going to believe me?
