Chapter Forty Seven
Chelsea's POV
"Right this way ma'am, kindly follow me." The attendance requested politely.
I nodded slightly and clung my purse tightly, the place was lavishly furnished with eye-catching decors. The place must be damn expensive and Torin would own a fortune to book a date in a place like this, his family's old money was really paying off.
We got to an enclosed section and the attendant knocked lightly on the door, it opened instantly and she bowed her head.
"You may go in ma'am, he's waiting for you right there." She said politely.
"For me? But won't you lead me directly to him?" I asked her curiously .
"No ma'am, this is how far I must go. I'll take my leave right now." She curtsied and left.
I was confused, the place was shockingly silent and no one seemed to be around. Cabins such as this spread across the area and I guessed they were also occupied by wealthy folks. I peered inside the room and it was dimly lit; a perfect idea for a romantic date.
"Why are you still standing out there, Chelsea? Come in, I don't bite." I heard Torin said from inside the room.
I snickered and walked inside, he was seated on a fancy cushion at a corner of the exotic room, the air in there felt different and the place smelled of roses of pleasant scents. My eyes fell on Torin, he was seated nonchalantly with his legs crossed, he didn't look like someone who was ready for a date.
"I thought you said the date was for a friend of yours. How come you're still here uhn?" I mocked.
He smiled, revealing his set of perfect sparkling teeth, this smile was what Kayla couldn't stop bugging me about all day. He looked quite handsome but not as handsome as Alaric. I mentally slapped myself, I was thinking and comparing someone to Alaric again. It was getting alarming.
"Yes I did, be patient tigress. I don't go back on my words. Do seat please, he'll be here in a minute." Torin said with a smile.
I chuckled lightly. It would kill Kayla to know Torin had set up a date for himself and I under the pretense that it was for a friend. He suddenly picked interest in me which was suspicious and he probably planned on lying the date wasn't for him and then his imaginary friend will never arrive. I was smarter than that and planned to give him a hard time.
Not only because his actions were suspicious but the fact that my friend had an interest in him which he knew.
"On the contrary, I don't think it would be polite for me to sit before my date arrives. He would offer me a seat himself, don't you think?" I said cunningly.
Torin's expression changed immediately and the next second he was back to his normal self. He was good at hiding things but I was better.
"Have it your way then, he'll be here in half a minute time." Torin announced.
"You said that few minutes ago." I retorted.
He ignored my remarks and stared at his wristwatch. I heard some footsteps approach us and my senses sharpened, I cursed inwardly knowing Torin was up to something yet I was foolish enough to fall right into his trap, this might be a plan to capture and harm me!
"You're here." Torin said to the newcomer.
I heard his footsteps approach me steadily, I skillfully opened my purse and brought out the protective taser I put in there for safety purposes, I wait patiently for the newcomer to make the first move before I attack, I felt his hand on my shoulder and in a split second; I turned around and tasered him, he grabbed my hand just before it could harm him and I tried to wriggle free from his grab.
"Let me go you monster!" I yelled frantically.
"Sweet Lord, calm down Chelsea!" I heard the newcomer say.
I wasn't having any of his tricks and I made to punch him when it suddenly hits me that the voice sounded familiar, I released the tension in my body and it instantly began to react to his touch, the butterflies fluttered in my belly once more and I felt goosebumps, the good kind of ones that gives me the tingles, only one person was capable of having this kind of effect on me.
I lifted up my head and my eyes met with his.
"Alaric!" I said in a bit if a whisper.
"Hello Chelsea." He said huskily.
His voice ran deep into my ears and I ached for more, I yanked my hand from his and took a step backwards, he looked delicious in the blue shirt he wore and tight jeans, I could almost see the lines of his abs and an image of me touching them flashed across my eyes, I shook my head to dispose such thoughts and stared at Torin and then back at Alaric.
It then dawned on me that Torin was neither lying nor scheming against me, he really was setting up a date for me, but with Alaric? How did they know each other? How is this possible? Does this mean I'm on a date with, Alaric?
"How did? You two? Is this? Am I?" I asked, confused.
Torin and Alaric chuckled at my actions, I was probably amusing them.
"It's not funny and I deserve an explanation!" I demanded.
Torin cleared his throat.
"Chelsea, meet my very good… friend and your date… Alaric,” For some reason, he was reluctant to call Alaric my his name. “You should have known quite a few things about him like he's strong and very considerate when you tried to attack the innocent man, my job here is done, see you around later, bye." Torin said briefly and left.
"How dare you? Come back here Torin! Don't you dare leave me right here standing, I deserve an explanation!" I tell after Torin.
"He can do that on my behalf." Torin said and his voice trailed off.
I stomped my foot on the ground in anger, he had tricked me into going on a date with this chunk of handsomeness who is doing strange things to me! I wasn't angry at Torin for fixing this date, as a matter of fact I was strangely happy for no reason.
Alaric laughed lightly and turned to face me.
"Please, do have a seat Chelsea." He said politely.
I scowled at him and then pretended to leave, he stopped me halfway and gently took my hands and led to me a table, I was surprised to see the chair and table there, I totally can't remember seeing it there when I first came in but it looked heavenly and romantic, candles of different colors were lit on it, roses and petals decorated the surface and our meal for the date was served, I gulped in my saliva as I saw a grilled seasoned steak amongst the course.
Alaric seemed to know what I was thinking because he chuckled once more.
"How in the whole world did you know Torin?" I asked Alaric out of the blues, I can't simply connect the dots.
"It's a long story, shall we?" Alaric replied and offered me a seat.
I sat down comfortably while he say opposite me, he gave me a killer smile and I felt my heart miss a beat.
"It's nice seeing you again Chelsea." Alaric began.
"It surely isn't nice to see you, you've been spamming my DM with your messages and calling incessantly, now you've managed to somehow get Torin to set us both up, what are you up to?" I asked him honestly.
"Nothing." He shrugged.
"Nothing? Please, I'm not that dumb to believe you, you think I'll believe anything you say?" I asked sarcastically.
"I speak of the truth and nothing but the truth." He replied, folding a napkin.
"When have you ever spoken the truth? I know for a fact you would not tell me how you managed to do all this." I spat out, I felt bad for treating him this way but I shrugged the feeling off.
"I always keep to my words and speak no such thing as lies, I've always told you the truth Chelsea, you just chose to ignore the facts." He said.
"What fact did I ignore, pray tell me" I rebuffed.
"That I love you, my feelings for you are pure and true but you never believe my words do you? You always think the worse of me." He said lowly.
I felt hurt by his words, it pierced right through my heart and for a moment I could almost say I felt his pain.
"But that's fine, we're on a date, let's eat " He said cheerfully.
I nodded my head in agreement, I took a chunk from the steak and dipped it in my mouth, I savored the taste and moaned, Alaric chuckled as he ate his salad and shook his head, I ignored him and took large bites of the steak.
