Fifty three

Torin rushed in about an hour later, he was worried sick about Alaric, we all are.
"What happened?" He asked again.

"There was an attack." I repeated.
His eyes scanned Alaric's unconscious body.
"Who did this to him and what really happened?" He asked again.
I knew what he actually meant, it is not news that Alaric wasn't a force to be reckoned with, seeing him at the verge of death over a little injury was quite suspicious, I sighed, Torin was an insider so he needed to know the truth.
"Ever since he awoken, he's not been his normal self, he isn't strong as we all remembered, it's complicated and yes, an elder conspired with some vampires to do this to him." I said, confirming his doubts.
Torin growled angrily.
"Where's the bastard? He needs to die right away!" He yelled.
"Silence! He musn't be disturb, let's just hope he wakes up soon, it's been three days." I told him
"Does this have anything to do with Chelsea? His mate? Of she's here will he be fine?" Torin suddenly asked after few seconds of silence.
"Yes." I affirmed.
He seem to be deeply lost in thought as he kept mute.
"I'll bring her here as fast as I can." He said.
Before I could ask him what he meant he had left the room, I sighed sadly as I watched Alaric breath, whatever Torin planned on doing, he'd better do it, Alaric was what held this pack together, rumors has spread around that he was done, our pack was now pone to our enemies as our defense is down.
Chelsea's Pov
Kayla and I went to a cafeteria to eat, she's been trying to get me to speak up about my sour mood for the past few days but I was as confused as she was.
"Chels, I care about you a lot, you need to tell me what's wrong, you look horrible and swollen." She said concernedly. "I'm worried sick seeing you like this. You look lifeless and pale. Everyone is worried."
"Kay, I'd never lie to you, believe me, I feel bad for no reason but I'll be fine, it's probably the stress at school coupled with the fact that our examinations are fast approaching." I said with a smile, inwardly I knew I was deceiving us both.
"We both know you work well irrespective of pressure or not, are you sure you don't want to share best?" She asked suspiciously.
I chuckled lightly.
"I would never hide secrets from you Kay, speaking of secrets, I'm not the one smiling around more often These days and going on dates with a certain crush of mine." I teased her.
She blushed, I was relieved her attention was drawn away from my issue and I squarely faced hers.
"So tell me uh, what's up with Torin?" I asked and she blushed hard.
"It's nothing, he's just being extra nice to me, that's all." She said nonchalantly.
I laughed at her.
"This might be the beginning of something new for the both of you, I'm happy for you Kay." I said sincerely.
"I feel he is keeping secrets from me, like he's much more than the Torin we see and I'm scared of digging deep, I don't want to uncover some things that would scare the living daylights out of me, sometimes I feel he's not of this world and a supernatural." She said seriously.
I nodded my head and I took a bite of my lamb chops, I could totally relate to what she was saying, it was exactly how I felt around Alaric, but I felt much safer with him and confident but he was gone now and I didn't want to remember him, I glanced at my wristwatch for a moment then gasped.
"Good Lord! I'm half an hour late for my class, I'll see you later Kay." I almost yelled and hurridely ran out of the cafeteria.
I could hear her laughter trail behind me, she mocked me for being too concerned about her love life, I gave her the middle finger and ran to my class, I could hear the lecturer's voice as I approached the class, he would definitely embarrass me if he catches me snooping around so I sneaked in through the back door.
The lecturer was facing the whiteboard when I was sneaking in, I sighted a seat and carefully walked there, I almost got there when he abruptly turned back to face the class, catching me red-handed.
"What exactly are you doing miss?" He asked me.
"I errr..." I stuttered.
"Hey, thank you for helping me with my bag, you can seat." A boy suddenly said.
Both the lecturer and I turned to face the boy, I have never seen him before and it seems he was new.
"You know her?" The lecturer asked.
"Yes, I mistake dropped my bag and pleaded with her to pick it up sir." He lied.
I.was shocked but then surprisingly; the lecturer bought the lie.
"Okay, that doesn't mean you should disrupt my class, take a seat." He said dismissively and continued teaching.
"Thank you." I muttered to thr boy who helped me and sat down beside him.
"You're welcome." He replied.
I nodded and didn't bother to look at his face for long, I listened attentively to the lecture and two hours later; he was done, before I could remember to thank my savior once more; he had left, I couldn't find him anywhere and just shrugged it off, I made a mental note to thank him the next time I see him.
I walked out of the lecture theathre and brought out my phone to text Kayla when Torin suddenly blocked my path.
"Torin!" I said excitedly.
"Come with me." He said flatly.
I was confused, he was acting strange.
"Did something bad happen?" I asked him.
"You need to come with me right this instant!" He commanded.
I laughed, was he playing pranks on me?
