Ninety nine

Chelsea POV

Viewing the full message, I lost balance. I staggered. My head spun. I was starting to have beads of sweat on my forehead. I felt goosebumps on my skin.
" The lives of these students are in your hands, Chelsea. If you want them safe, give us Alaric" the message read.
I staggered again, this time, as if I was pushed. I rushed down the stairs, dialing Alaric's number.
"Hey, love" he called.
I was too terrified to speak at first. I swallow spittle in my mouth, then opened them.
"How are you, Ric? Where are you?"
I said at once.
"Which should I answer first" I heard a soft manly chuckle. I was relieved by this.
"I'm okay, Chels. Do you miss me this much?"
I swallowed and sniffed, holding my phone to my ear.
My eyes were bloody red.
Not as bloody red as I've explained, though.
"Where are you now." I said as calm as possible.
"At our coven." He replied. "We're in a meeting." He added.
"Keep safe, Ric" I said on a low tone, watching my sides.
"I should be telling you that" he replied.
I hung up, finally relieved to hear his voice.
I regretted not coming along witha woolly knitted scarf today. Mum had warned me earlier in the day to go with it. I had ignored, claiming that the weather was beginning to get warmer.
Why did I object in the first place?

Kayla walked over in a fast pace.

Kayla's POV
I was so determined to tell Chelsea about the occurrence of the day. I'm sure someone is up to no good. I'm afraid to say... It might actually be the vampire clan again. They are always antagonizing Chelsea and her boyfriend, Alaric.
I grabbed her hand and led her downstairs.
We both sat on a slab.
"Are you okay, Chels?" She looked dazed.
Perhaps she had seen something worth being called frightening.
She nodded.

She hasn't said a word since I saw her today.
"Something happened today" I broke the silence.
" I think someone is after you again."
"I Know" she finally said two words.
"Who is that?" I tilted my head.
" I don't have an idea. I just...I got this text." She gave me her phone.
I read the mail.
Who is this assole threatening innocent students, just to get to Alaric?
I thought Chelsea was the target.
Who would have imagined that their target was Alaric?
This sounded very much alarming. Why would they request for Alaric?
He was their main enemy and fearless in battle.
I'm sure they have something up their sleeves. I just can't lay my fingers on what it is.
I took out my last candy from my purse and pressed it into her cold palm.
Damn! She's freezing!

I began to narrate this morning's incidence in a more explanatory manner.

Author's POV

The vampire king rubbed his chin every now and then. He was worried.
"How is it going?" He asked the young guy.
"Rest assured sire, we would be able to get Alaric." He bowed.
"What's your scheme?" The vampire king stood up from his throne and leaned his back against the wall.
"Once we get the leader, Alaric, the battle Is ours." The guy stated.
"Brilliant." The vampire king shone his fangs.
"I need the witch alive." He added.
" Yes my king." The guy bowed and turned away, moving out a quick as a second flash.

He badly needed more rings for his warriors. The only people that possessed the rings were those elites that we're much older. He wanted his warriors to each have rings created by the witch to protect them from being consumed by the sun.
With the scheme his guy had prepared, they were sure going to achieve two things: getting rid of the werewolf park and getting the witch for their use. If alone she had agreed to negotiate with him, he would not have done it the cruel way.

Chelsea's POV

I'm still shaken up by the threat. I felt goosebumps on my skin. The weather was beginning to get warm with time.
I bit into the chocolate Kayla gave me earlier on. it made me more relaxed now.
"How do you feel now?" She asked me.
"Better." I reassured her.
I'm thinking of going over to Alaric's place as soon as possible, but how would I prevent another murder in the school.
My phone beeped again. I gasped with trembling hands.
My teeth shook. I'm not weak! There's no way I'll be shaking on a null shell.
Just... The thought of having people die in my stead is so much unbelievable.
I read the message and passed it over to kalya. Her expression was neutral.
My vision was blurry.
"Guess the next location." The message stated.
I need to speak with Alaric.
How do I track down this culprit?
How do I save these students from dying when I can easily hand over Alaric and end this crime thread?

" Where are you going to?" Kayla held my hand.
"I want to speak with Alaric. I needed to inform him about the situation of things." I whispered.
She nodded and let go of my hand.
"Just don't do anything funny Chels." Her eyes read worry and doubt, though, she looked brave.

I walked out of the school gate and boarded a cab. I gave a brief description of Alaric's office. I only visit him at his office on rare occasions. He would not be expecting me. As soon as I got to the reception, a lady walked me into Alaric's office.
He sat up straight, surprised to see me.
"Chels..." He called
"Ric ...." I began to sob
"Someone... Someone's threatening to kill..."
"To kill you?"
"No, Ric..."
I began to narrate today's play out to him. He rubbed my back each time I broke down. That's the guy I love. He was warm and fierce.
He picked his phone and dialed his beta. He said a few things, instructing his beta to make a proper investigation.
