Chapter Seventeen

I had been at the school for more than a week now. Everything was peaceful and I was getting fairly used to the new environment. I also made some friends in the class including the class representative, Melissa.

Melissa was brunette haired with an oval-shaped face and a very wide smile that was always there for everyone. She had reached out to me on the second day of school and she introduced me to her friends, Becky and Sophie. They were also quite nice.

Kayla was also not as cold and distant as she was any longer. Although we didn't talk much, it was much better than before.

"And that's all for today, " The science teacher, Mr. James announced as he arranged his books and left the class with them.

I also finished up what I was writing and turned to put the book in my book. But as I turned, my gaze met with Torin's in the back seat as he happened to look over as well.

Our gazes only met for a second however and I looked away immediately. I had avoided him as advised especially since my parents had also repeatedly warned me to stay out of trouble.

I put my book in my bag and sat up, facing forward once more. Just then, the door opened and the class teacher, Ms. Adams walked in. She was putting on a white female shirt on top of a black fitted and pleated skirt and looking more mature today.

She walked onto the class podium and coughed twice to get the attention of the students. When everyone looked over, she began to speak, "As everyone knows, there are always extracurricular activities scheduled every term. This time, we'll be going on a tour."

Instantly, the students began to murmur amongst themselves. Soon, it took over the whole class and Ms. Adams had to yell to stop them from muttering.

She continued, "This time around, we'll be visiting an archaic building city. It is in our community and the name is the Loup-garou hall."

The murmurs were quick to turn into a frenzy once more. But, it soon died down and Ms. Adams continued again.

"The tour is scheduled for next week as we have to rush things up this term. Your class representative will distribute an envelope each to all of you in a minute. You need to get either of your parent's or guardian's signature of approval for the tour and return it to me in two days."

"Is that clear?" She asked, looking at us again.

"Yes, Ms. Adams," everyone chorused in return.

Melissa went out of the class with Ms. Adams and when she returned, she held a stack of envelopes in hand as she distributed them around.

When she got to my seat, she flashed me a wide smile and commented, "I like your top, Chels."

I collected the envelope from her and looked at the top I was wearing that day. It was a white denim top I was wearing over a short nude skirt. It was something I had gotten before we moved to Seattle.

"Thanks," I called out behind Melissa and she simply waved.

I opened the envelope and pulled out the paper put in it. It was addressed to the parents.

"Dear Sir/Ma, the management of Universe High hereby brings to your notice blah blah blah" I read, my eyes skimming past the introduction and all until my gaze landed on the location of the tour.

"What the heck is loup garou, "I could not help but murmur out loud. And my words seemed to catch the attention of my estimate for the locked up

while sealing the envelope in her hand back after opening it up

She spoke up, "It's the tallest building in our community. It belongs to an ancient king. Don't you see it from your bed? It's directly facing you."

"Oh, I muttered, "Then, why are they taking us there?

This time around, she simply sighed. "I don't know. If you are curious, Google search about it

And then she turned away, looking as though our short conversations had drained up all her energy. could not help but smile at this

Even though she always seemed to be bored and unwilling to talk to people, she was always the one who initiated conversation first. She just got easily

bored and tired of it

"Okay. Google should be able to explain better why we are going to an abandoned building on a tour, "I muttered jokingly as I brought out my phone and keyed in the searches Kayla looked at me for a moment hearing my words but she didn't say anything

There were quite a lot of varying opinions on the internet. However, there was not much real information about it

So, I decided to wait and see what the deal about the place was about when we finally left for the tour.

I told my parents about it over dinner that night and after gave the envelope to dad and he read through it carefully, he asked a Few questions.

Like, "Will the security personnel be going there with you? How many teachers will be accompanying drawings you there?"

And so on. Which was unable to answer of course.

But after some deliberating with mom, he decided to sign his approval. So after the dinner, had my parent's consent and put the envelope in the bag to submit it the next day.

However as lay in bed that night, it took a long time for me to sleep. My mind decided to run haywire that day and all sorts of thoughts kept revolving in my mind.

Eventually, it stopped at Kayla's words that morning. She said that the building was directly facing us.

I sat up on my bed curiously and turned on my phone's backlight to see into the distance as looked out my window. At First, could not see it as there

were only similar apartments in sight. But as was about to return to bed, noticed it in the far distance.

There were no lights on in there but with my flashlight, I could see it. That very tall building in its magnificent self

It was just an abandoned building but could not help but stare at it even closer. was unable to tell why I was feeling a sense of attraction to it.
