Chapter Thirty Three

Alaric's POV

I suck in a breath as he walks out of my office and takes a seat. Chelsea is being targeted. It is not surprising and inevitable but I don't expect it to come so fast.

The vampires are usually very hard to deal with and ruthless in their dealings so I won't be surprised if they bring relations into the fight.

I lower my head now feeling a surge of headache after not taking a single rest in three days. The stress is taking a toll on my mental health but I think I can still go on.

I can still survive it.

Moreover, I have to protect Chelsea now too. It is even harder because she does not know about us and I can't just simply persuade her to come here where she is much safe.

"Damn!" I can't help but curse as I pulled at the black tie I was putting on to match my white shirt. I am quickly getting used to life here.

Just then, I suddenly have a thought. There is someone who can protect her.

I quickly pick up my phone from the desk and ring a number. The moment it is answered, I order. "Tell the gamma that I want to see his son."

After the call, I lean back on my chair, feeling more relieved.

Soon, the door is knocked and a figure enters. It is a teenager; the one who rushed in the first day I met Chelsea and took her away.

When he walks into the hall, he immediately bows and greets, "Greetings, Alpha."

I wave a hand, signifying him to stand up. "Take a seat," I say.

He seems a little reluctant and wants to reject but I quickly interrupt. "We will be having a long conversation so sit."

Immediately, he pulls out one of the chairs in front of my desk and looks at me.

" My dad said you wanted to see me."

"Yes," I mutter, reaching out to pick up the blue fountain pen on my desk. "What is your name?"

He immediately answers. "Torin, sir."

" Torin," I can't help but mutter. "It is a nice name."

" Thank you, Alpha."

"Now, let's get to business," I announce, clasping my palms and now taking a serious posture. "You know Chelsea?"

" Chelsea?"

"Yes, Chelsea," I repeat. "You carried her away the first day I returned."

Torin nods. " Yes, I know her."

"She is your friend?" I ask, tilting my head and subconsciously, I narrow my eyes at him.

'It can't be that he is courting her and is a potential rival, right?' I think.

Although he is young, he is quite the type most young girls will take a fancy to. Fairly tall, and has a good and straight body, and I can see traces of some muscles showing in his clothes as he sits in front of me.

"No, we are not friends," he corrects. "She is my partner in a school project."

I find myself heaving a sigh that I had no idea I was holding. I'm unable to tell why I am so bothered by the thought that she could be with other men.

After all, I don't believe she is my mate. Saira is out there somewhere. I can feel her and the mate's bond with the teenager is just a mistake from the moon goddess.

But for now, I have to protect Chelsea.

So I return my attention to the boy in front of me. "I want to put you on an important mission."

He immediatelsitsit up on alert and I am awed by the level of interest that is evident on his face just by hearing those words.

"I want you to always pay attention to Chelsea and protect her at all costs," I begin, and immediately, I see how the anticipation dies on his face.

Did he think I would send him on a higher-grade mission and get him killed?

I continue. "If the danger is greater than you can handle, alert me immediately. Is that clear?"

He nods. " Yes, Alpha."

"Good."
