Chapter 14: Letting Her Out

-Serena-

I wasn’t sure why Rogan had left, or how long he had been gone. I tried getting out of my handcuffs, but it was simply not possible. I just ended up moving the chair a little to the side, but I stayed cuffed to it, and the metal was biting into my skin. It was making it sting badly. Eventually, I stopped trying to use pure force and just looked around. Rogan had kept something over there in the dark, I remembered and looked towards where he had been standing. Maybe I could borrow something to get me free. They were most likely torture devices, so there had to be something I could use.

I started to move the chair, by using my whole body to move forward, since my feet were also cuffed to the chair. I needed to pretty much jump over there. It was damn exhausting to do it, but little by little I moved towards the table standing in the dark. I could see it better the closer I got, but I hadn’t even gotten halfway before I heard the door open, and more light streamed inside. Rogan stepped inside but seemed to freeze when he realized where I was heading.

“Really?” he just asked.

“Did you expect me to sit nicely and wait for you to come back to torture me?” I asked.

He sighed, shaking his head before he came over to me and threw something in front of me.

“What is that?” I asked.

“Clothes.”

“Clothes?!”

Okay, now I was confused. Rogan walked around me, and I jumped a little to the side, not that I moved far away from him, but then I felt the cuffs being loosened and then removed. I looked over my shoulder confused, and our eyes locked for a moment before he released my feet.

“W-What are you doing?” I asked.

He didn’t answer me, instead, he picked up the clothes on the ground and handed them to me. I looked at them confused, not even reaching for them.

“Put it on.”

“No,” I said.

He smiled a little.

“It’s just clothes,” he said.

“Why?”

“Why?” he repeated confused.

“Why are you giving it to me? Am I looking pretty for my funeral?”

He shook his head.

“No, I just want you dressed. That gown doesn’t cover much.”

I looked down at myself, not really seeing the problem. We were enemies after all. So, what if I wasn’t dressed very modestly? Did that matter? I couldn’t really tell what was going on, so I just took the clothes, and he let them slide from his hand.

“You got about one minute to put them on. I’m not turning my back to you longer than that.”

Wait?

He was going to turn his back to me. I was so shocked when he actually did, but instead of putting on the clothes, I let them drop to the ground and ran for the table.

“Goddess be damned!” I heard him growl before he went for me.

I just barely even reached the table, when a strong arm came around me, picking me up, and making my feet dangler over the ground.

“No!” I shouted, trying to push his arm away.

“You really thought that would work?” he asked, and he easily carried me back to where the clothes were.

“I was close!”

“No, you weren’t,” he just said and put me down on my feet. “And now you don’t get any privacy.”

“Privacy?!” I asked as if I couldn’t believe he was even considering giving me any.

“Exactly. Now change.”

He crossed his arms over his chest, and I looked at him shocked.

“No!”

“I told you. I would only give you one minute.”

“I’m naked underneath,” I said.

He just let his eyes slowly run down my body, as if I was actually standing naked in front of him, and I couldn’t help but wrap my arms around myself.

“Stop that,” I said.

“What?” he asked and looked me in the eyes again, but a smug smile was on his lips this time.

“That … look.”

He just shrugged, as if he didn’t know what I was talking about.

“Change,” he said.

“Turn around.”

“We already tried that, and you made a run for it instead.”

“Actually, I tried getting a weapon,” I corrected.

“As if that is so much better …” he sighed.

“Turn.”

“No,” he said.

“I’m not changing in front of you,” I said.

“You don’t got a choice, or do you want me to help you? I got the cuffs,” he said.

I just glared at him, before I reached down and picked up some underwear. I didn’t take off the gown, but maneuvered the black panties up, while still wearing the gown, before putting on some pants. It was harder with the bra though, but since the grown opened in the back, I could put the bra on outside of it and the t-shirt, before roughly pulling the gown off, and then I corrected my clothes a little.

“There!” I said angrily and threw the gown on the floor. “Now what?”

“A jacket,” he said and picked up the last piece of clothing I had let lie on the ground.

He held it out to me, and I looked at him confused.

“It’s a little chilly today,” he said.

“And?”

“Do you want to get cold? You, humans, are so weak you easily get sick,” he said.

I just glared at him and the black leather jacket he was holding in front of me, before I angrily took it from him and put it on, before brushing my dirty hair away, which really needed to be washed. I was still aching all over, and the way I had been so rough with putting on my clothes had definitely not helped me. I was hungry and thirsty too and just needed to sleep for days pretty much, but I couldn’t allow him to see me as weak, so I tried my best to ignore the pain.

“Can you walk?” he asked.

“Are you offering to carry me?” I asked, just trying to annoy him.

“If you need me to.”

I looked at him shocked and took a step back.

“I … I can walk,” I said.

He nodded and then walked over to the open door, yet I stayed in my spot. He stopped by the door and looked over his shoulder.

“What are you waiting for?” he asked.

“Is this a trick?”

“A trick?”

“Why are you letting me go?” I asked.

“I’m not,” he said.

“Then what are you doing?” I asked.

He sighed and looked out into the hallway.

“Trying something else,” he said before looking at me again. “So, are you coming or not?”

“Are there people with guns out there?”

He shook his head, smiling a little.

“No guns. No people. No wolves,” he said.

“I’m not taking your word for it.”

“Well, you can spend your time here or out there with me. What do you prefer?” he asked me.
