Chapter 10: What Made Her A Rogue
-Rhys-
She had fire, the little rogue. She was not scared to stand up to me, even though my status made me very powerful, and I sometimes just had to look at people, and they would submit to me. Not Nova. She was scared, to begin with, but when I brought up her betraying the other rogues, it made her fired up. I was surprised to see the change in her, and then she bit me! I tried holding onto her, but the pain was too much and I had to let go. The blood in her mouth dribbled down her chin, it was quite a sight, and then she took off again. I pressed a hand to the wound, groaning annoyed as I saw her run off, but I didn’t give her much of a head start. I followed her quickly after, catching her again and tackling her to the ground. I turned her and pressed her hands to the ground just beside her head, while I hovered over her.
“ENOUGH!” I told her.
She screamed and wiggled around underneath me. As my mate, it made her my equal. I couldn’t just use my powers so easily over her, and therefore she didn’t listen to my command.
“Nova!”
“Get off!” she shouted.
“No, you need to calm down, right now!”
“No!”
“Nova!” I shouted.
“Hurt me if you must, but I won’t tell you a thing!” she growled.
“I was only suggesting—”
“I am not stupid! I know what your people do to mine!” she said. “Go ahead. I won’t tell you anything!”
I sighed and shook my head a little, while I waited for her to calm down. When she finally laid still, we looked at each other. She was breathing rather heavily and her sweet breasts were being pressed against her top, making me focus on them for a moment.
“See? Just like every other guy,” she said.
I met her dark eyes again.
“And how much experience do you have with men?” I asked her.
She seemed a little surprised but then narrowed her eyes.
“I …”
“I’m your first kiss,” I said.
“No!”
“Don’t lie to me. I can hear your pulse,” I told her.
She groaned annoyed and leaned her head back, probably feeling rather defeated, because she knew there was nowhere for her to run. I was not going to let her go.
“But I will admit you are very attractive,” I told her.
She lifted her head a little and looked at me shocked.
“What?”
I smiled a little. She seemed confused when I said this. Like she couldn’t believe she might be attractive. Did she think she was ugly? She had pale skin that only seemed paler because of her long dark hair and those very dark eyes, and she might seem small and hidden under all of these dark clothes, but I could feel her curves as she was pressed against me. I would love to have her back in my bed and naked, so I could explore every inch of her.
“What?” I asked back.
“I’m a rogue!” she said.
I chuckled a little.
“How many times are you going to repeat that tonight? I am just trying to prepare.”
“You have to hate me!” she said. “And find me disgusting.”
“I don’t.”
“But you have to!” she said.
“But I don’t.”
“Rhys …”
“Yes?”
“We can’t … you need to let me go before …”
She trailed off, but I felt like there was something important she was about to say, and I studied her a little, but she had closed off.
“Before … what?” I asked.
“N-Nothing …”
“Nova, are you in any kind of trouble?” I asked her.
“I am right now!”
“I don’t mean this, and you are not in trouble, as my mate, no one can touch you here,” I told her.
“I don’t want to be your mate!”
I narrowed my eyes a little, feeling angry as I heard this.
*Bite her! Mark her right now and let her see that she doesn’t belong to anyone but us!*
My wolf was not thinking clearly, a forced marking was a violation and not acceptable, but I understood where he was coming from. We had a mate who liked to run and especially from us. He wanted to make sure no one else got the chance to claim her because she really was very attractive. Very beautiful. Who wouldn’t turn their heads when they saw her walk by them? I couldn’t believe no one had had a taste of her before. Why was that?
“But you haven’t rejected me,” I said.
“I … I don’t want to make you mad and … if we are no longer mates then … then you have no reason not to hurt me,” she whispered.
“You think I would be that cruel?”
“I don’t know … Yes!” she said. “You are a pack member.”
“But I am not a monster,” I said.
“You are to me,” she mumbled.
“Nova—”
“And I am a monster in your eyes. That is how it is supposed to be,” she said.
“You don’t seem like a monster to me.”
“But I am because I am—”
“A rogue,” I finished for her.
She nodded.
“You know the order of this world,” she said. “Why use your time on changing something that cannot be changed?”
“Hunters and werewolves used to kill each other,” I said. “Now we have made peace.”
“Rogues and pack members fought long before the hunters appeared.”
“Maybe, but it doesn’t change the fact that we can change,” I said.
“Why should we?”
“Because I want you,” I said.
She gasped a little, shocked as I said it out loud, but it was not a lie. I did want her. I just hoped she hadn’t committed too big of a crime and that I could look past it.
“You shouldn’t … You can’t want me.”
“But I do.”
“I am a rogue … I am a horrible person,” she said.
“Tell me what is so horrible about you.”
“Isn’t my title enough?”
“No,” I said and shook my head. “Tell me what made you a rogue.”
“Rhys … it doesn’t matter.”
“It does to me,” I told her.
She looked at me for a little while, before she looked away, and I was confused by her behavior, but then she suddenly whispered:
“I haven’t done anything.”
