Book Two: The Beta's Rogue Mate

From the book:

“W-What are you going to do with me?” she asked, scared.

Her voice was shaking, and I hated to see the look on her face, but she was a rogue too. How could this all be so messed up?

“I’m not going to hurt you, if that is what you fear,” I said.

“I’m a … I’m a rogue,” she stammered.

“And we’re mates, apparently.”

She swallowed hard and shook her head. Her voice was like a caress over my skin though, and I wished to always keep her talking.

“N-No, our wolves must … must have made a mistake,” she said.

“They don’t make mistakes about this.”

“So … So, now you reject me and hand me over to your alpha, right?” she asked.

Oh, she was just so scared, her whole body was shaking. She was nothing like the rogues I had run into in the past. They were always so vicious and while they, of course, were scared of dying, they weren’t terrified and shaking like this little one. How had she even become a rogue? Was it an act?

*No act, the smell of her fear stings in our nose.*

My wolf was right. I had focused so much on her sweet, natural one, which was meant to lure me in, that I hadn’t really listened to the other signs her body was showing. That she was very scared and terrified of what was going to happen now.
