Chapter 12: Sleeping In The Same Room

-Nova-

He spanked my ass!

When I didn’t want to listen, he just silenced me by spanking my ass. It had not hurt a lot, it was more my ego that took a hit, and I just ended up dangling over his shoulder, as he brought me back to the house and inside again. I couldn’t believe my escape had been such an epic failure! I had really thought I would be able to get out of here before Rhys came back, but he had caught me and now I had told him the truth about me. How I was failing as a rogue too. I was pathetic, and I had just completely stopped fighting. I knew it was pointless, so when I was finally back in his room and put on my feet again, I just stood there. Rhys locked the door behind him and then turned to me, as he leaned up against it.

“So … is this where you make me yours?” I asked.

“Do you want me to?” he asked.

I shook my head.

“Then not yet.”

“What?”

He walked past me and into what I believed was a walk-in closet before he came back with a t-shirt that was undoubtedly his.

“I don’t really have any clothes prepared for you, because … well, I didn’t expect to find my mate tonight,” he said. “But tomorrow I will have some new clothes brought here and we can get you settled.”

He just held out the t-shirt to me, and I stared at it shocked.

“You can sleep in this for now.”

“Sleep?” I asked.

He chuckled when I said the word so funnily.

“Yes, sleep,” he said.

“But … you said …”

“I said you would beg me to mark you. Are you begging?” he asked me.

I shook my head.

“Then take this and you can go shower,” he said and pointed to the door behind me.

“Shower?”

I looked over my shoulder, looking at the door as if I could barely understand anything that was being said to me. I slowly looked back at Rhys, who had taken a step closer to me.

“I am not going to hurt you, little rogue,” he said. “Ever.”

“But …”

“You can go shower. Nothing will happen,” he said.

“W-Why?” I asked him.

I simply couldn’t understand any of it. Nothing made sense to me. Why was he acting like this? I mean … I understood we were mates, but why should he honor it, when I was just a rogue? In his eyes I was nothing, so why … why treat me with … kindness?

“Because I am guessing you don’t want to be covered in dirt while you sleep,” he said.

I shook my head.

“Good, then go shower,” he said.

He handed me the t-shirt, and I took it before he gently pushed me in the direction of the bathroom. I walked over there and slowly opened the door, just checking that nothing was hiding out there, before I walked inside, turned on the light, and looked around. It really was just a normal bathroom, and when I closed the door, I could see it could lock too. I locked it, just to be safe, and then placed the t-shirt on the counter, while I looked at the big bathroom. There was both a shower and a big tub, the walls were a soft white, and there was a big mirror over the sink. I couldn’t believe he would just allow me to shower in here, but as I slowly started to strip, I noticed no one was coming inside or trying to, and when I placed myself under the warm rays, everything stayed quiet too. I almost started to relax, but I couldn’t help but be a little tense still. I was on enemy territory, and I knew I should not let my guard down so easily. So, when I was done showering and had used some of his shampoo that smelled amazing, I quickly dried myself and then put on the t-shirt, which was pretty much a dress on me.

I walked over to the door again, slowly unlocking it and looking into the room. It was then I noticed that Rhys was standing in the room without a shirt on and now wearing a pair of grey sweatpants while looking at his phone. He must have felt me staring at him because he turned to me and smiled.

“Done?” he asked.

I nodded and stepped out, as he came over to me. I kept myself close to the wall, but he just walked past me and into the bathroom and soon I heard the water running. I stood there, not understanding anything. Was he really just taking a shower with me in here?! Was he not scared I would do anything?

*He has already proven he can easily catch us …*

My wolf was right. Yeah, Rhys could easily catch us if I tried making a run for it again, so instead, I walked over to one of the couches and started making myself a little comfortable. I hoped he was serious about letting me sleep, just like he was with the shower, but when he came out, just wearing a towel, he looked at me like I had done something wrong. I quickly sat up, trying not to let my eyes roam around his unbelievably strong body.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“Eh … just trying to … sleep,” I said.

“Yes, but there is a bed right there,” he said and pointed to the bed.

“Yeah, but …”

“Don’t worry, little rogue, I won’t touch you until you ask me to,” he promised me.

“You … won’t?”

He shook his head, but I wasn’t sure I believed him. We had just met tonight.

“I think I am good here,” I told him.

He sighed but apparently knew not to argue with me. Instead, he walked over to the bed, and grabbed a pillow and a thick blanket, before coming over to me. He removed the small pillows I had put on top of each other and the thin blanket, before he made the couch comfortable for me, placing the soft pillow behind me and placing the blanket around me.

“Y-You don’t have to …”

“You’re my mate, so I do,” he said.

“But …”

He walked away and I just barely got a chance to look away, before he removed the towel and climbed under the covers. I gasped lowly because I caught a small glimpse of him completely naked. Oh, Goddess, he was sleeping naked only a few feet away from me!

“You can relax, Nova,” he said.

I turned to look at him again and saw him watching me from his bed, an arm under his head.

“I will stay here,” he said.

“You expect me to trust you?”

He nodded.

“Have I given you a reason not to?” he asked.

“You kidnapped me.”

He chuckled a little.

“No, I just took what was mine already.”

“I am my own!” I said.

“Yes, but you are also my mate,” he told me.

“Rhys …”

“If you get lonely, you can always climb into bed with me,” he said with such a smug smile on his lips.

“I think I will pass on that … opportunity,” I said.

He chuckled, and the sound just went straight to my heart, imprinting itself on my soul.

“Your loss,” he said.

“How so?”

“Because I know a good way to exhaust us both,” he said.

“How?” I asked.

He just laughed again, and I knew there was something I was missing. It took me a moment to catch up to what he was saying, and then I rolled my eyes before lying down.

“That’s a no!” I told him.

I just heard him laugh softly, and I couldn’t help but smile a little. I didn’t know what he was doing to me, but I knew I had to get away fast before I wouldn’t be able to leave at all.
