Chapter 22: Wanting Her

-Rogan-

Serena really thought I wasn’t keeping my eyes and ears open. I had no plans of really sleeping because I knew she would try something. She couldn’t help herself. I had hoped this would teach her a lesson though. I hoped she would see how fighting against me and my people was a waste of time, but Serena was the perfect soldier. So loyal to their cause. So determined and her confidence wasn’t shaken by a setback. She always tried to find a solution to a bad situation. She was definitely a leader. I was certain of it, but she needed to put those skills to better use. She needed to help us. Sadly, a good soldier didn’t just switch sides. In a way, I could respect that loyalty, even if it annoyed the hell out of me.

“Get off me!” she said and wiggled around.

I smiled, knowing she was completely at my mercy. I wasn’t going to do anything. I wouldn’t until she asked me to, but I wasn’t going to hide my intention either. I did want her. It was hard to fight this mate bond thing, and now that we were all alone, it was even harder. I wanted her naked and, in my bed, doing the fucking opposite of fighting, but Serena had looked so damn confused, it was almost just funny.

“Don’t try it again,” I warned her one last time.

“Bite me!”

“And don’t threaten me with a good time.”

She looked at me shocked, and I finally released her, before I got off her. She scooted back as far as she could but kept her eyes right on me.

“You are a fucking animal.”

“You don’t say,” I just said and pushed the blanket away, before getting into bed again. “Let’s get some sleep.”

“I’m not closing my eyes sleeping beside you!” she told me.

“Well, then stay awake. I’m sleeping.”

I scooted further down on the bed, throwing one arm under my pillow, as I got myself comfortable and closed my eyes. I could feel Serena watching me though, and I opened one of my eyes, seeing her watching me intensely like I might just jump up and attack her.

*Not a bad idea!*

My wolf was all for pushing her down on the bed again and having our way with her, but we had to remember, that she wasn’t a wolf. She didn’t feel the bond as we did, and how it pushed us to claim each other. We would only overwhelm her, and therefore until she made it clear she wanted us we would not get close to her like that.

*That suck!*

I almost wanted to laugh but kept it inside me, and instead turned my head to look at Serena.

“Go to sleep,” I said.

“No!”

Of course, she wouldn’t listen. She never did.

“I won’t get close to you again,” I promised.

“I don’t believe you.”

I smiled a little.

“Not until you tell me you want to,” I said and tried getting even more comfortable, hoping it would show her I was not about to jump her again.

“I will never want you,” she snarled.

I sighed, rolling my eyes a little.

“It will change. You will see.”

“No, it will not!”

I sighed again, done with this conversation.

“Will you just go to sleep?”

Serena shook her head and got off the bed. I sat up, ready to follow her, but she only walked over to a couch further away and laid down.

“Very well,” I just said, as I laid down again.

She could sleep on the couch if she wanted to. It wasn’t very comfortable, but it wasn’t my back that would be ruined in the morning.

-Serena-

I woke up, as I heard the bathroom door open. I slowly rolled onto my back and saw Rogan come out of the bathroom only wearing a towel. I quickly turned around again, before he would notice me. Why was he suddenly so comfortable around me that he chose to walk around half-naked?! I pressed my eyes together and tried to erase the image from my mind, but it was very hard when it looked like he had been fucking carved by a god or something like that.

“Awake?”

I looked up, following the sound of his voice, and saw Rogan in front of me. He had put on some pants but was only holding a t-shirt in his hand.

“Now I am,” I said.

“Good, we got things to do today.”

“We?” I asked.

He nodded.

“So, get up,” he told me.

“Just leave me alone,” I said and buried my head in the pillow in front of me.

My body was aching today, and not just because of my wounds. This couch was really not very comfortable, but it was a better choice than the bed.

“I can’t do that,” Rogan said, and then placed his hand on my shoulder, shaking me.

“Stop that!” I said and looked up at him.

He just smiled teasingly and removed his hand.

“Get up.”

“Go fuck yourself. I’m sleeping.”

“I thought a soldier like yourself always got up early,” he said.

“I’m wounded.”

He quickly lost the teasing smile and pulled the little blanket off me.

“Hey!”

“Let me see,” he said.

“No!”

“We need to have your bandages changed. Just let me see how bad the wounds are,” he said.

I shook my head, but he didn’t listen to me. Instead, he grabbed my arm and had me flipped around before he sat down, so I couldn’t turn onto my stomach again. He pulled on the t-shirt I was wearing, so the wound on my stomach came into view.

“Stop that!” I said and tried slapping his hands away, but he just gave me a warning with his eyes not to do that again.

“I’m helping.”

“I can do that myself,” I told him, but he didn’t listen.

He slowly peeled off the bandages and took a look at the wound. This one had been the worst one since the other one was on my shoulder and not near anything vital. Rogan inspected the wound, and I simply just surrendered to my fate, waiting for him to be done.

“It’s better,” he said.

“I could have figured that out myself,” I bit back.

“Take off the t-shirt and let me see the one on your shoulder,” he said.

“Not going to happen. Just find some clean bandages and I will do this myself.”

Rogan didn’t seem happy about it, but when it was clear I wasn’t going to take off my t-shirt, he knew it would do no one any good fighting over this. So, he walked to the bathroom again, while I took a look at the wound on my stomach myself. It really was better. The skin around the stitches was still red, but not a flaming color, and it was less tender. It had really done me a lot of good to get something to eat and a little sleep, but I knew it would take a while before it was all healed up. I didn’t have the werewolves’ healing ability.

“Here,” Rogan said and handed me some stuff to clean my wound with and fresh bandages.

I took them and he walked to the door, but then turned to look at me.

“I’m getting you some new clothes. Don’t try and run because I will catch you,” he said and then walked out.
