Zayn raised his free hand and rubbed his temple and said, "I save her because she is a staff of the Blue Ridge group and not because she is Bent's woman. As their boss, I am responsible for their safety. More importantly, previously she saved me twice!"
On hearing, Gael was shocked, remained silent, and thought, ''Oh yeah, if it wasn't for Bethany who saved Mr. Meyer when he was injured, he would have been dead!'
Zayn lowered his head and asked solemnly, "Did news of my injury leak out?”
If Bent knew that he was injured, he would try all means to prevent his return. Bent would then use the reason that Zayn was hospitalized overseas and unable to return to manage the company he would then convince the elders who were discontented with Zayn to give him their shares of the company.
Gael knew what Zayn was worried about and shook his head, "Rest assured, Mr. Meyer, I've controlled the information. Bent doesn't know about it but Miss Medina had checked on your travel details."
Zayn's eyes glared and asked, "Why did she check up on me?”
Gael threw the cotton swabs into the dustbin and replied, "She noticed that you did not go back yesterday and could not contact you. Perhaps she was worried about you. Do you want to return her call?"
"No need!” Zayn pursed his lips. Gael did not persuade but served a glass of water to his lips.
Zayn raised his head and drank the water from the straw and waved it away.
Gael placed the glass of water down and a call came in.
"Mr. Meyer, it's the hotel. It must be regarding the earthquake," Gael said when he looked at the display.
Zayn closed his eyes and sniffed before saying, "Handle it."
"Yes, president Meyer, " Gael answered and headed towards the door.
Once outside, he saw Bethany leading the doctor over. Bethany paused and asked, "Gael, are you leaving?".
Gael adjusted his spectacles and said, "Yes, I have to handle something. Please take care of Mr. Meyer”.
"Rest assured that I'll take good care of Mr.Meyer,” Bethany said.
Gael thanked her and left. Bethany was left puzzled as she looked at him hurrying away and thought, Hmm, wasn't I a thorn in his side these couple of days? Why is he behaving so politely with me again?
Bethany could not figure it out and brought the doctor into the room.
The doctor examined Zaynandd and changed his medicine, and quickly left.
Only Bethany and Zayn remained in the room.
Bethany stood beside the bed and looked thankfully at him, "Mr. Meyer, thanks for saving me.”
If he did not push her away, she would have been crushed by the chandelier.
"You don't have to thank me. Didn't you save me once? Now we're even!” zayn said.
He then recalled something, looked at Bethany, and said, "Oh yes, I pushed you rather hard. Were you hurt?".
"No, no," Bethany replied and quickly shook her head. She felt rather warm in her heart.
He was still so concerned about her when he was so seriously injured. She was at a loss for words.
Zayn was relieved to hear that she was fine but the next moment he saw that both her hands were bandaged.
He frowned and asked, "What's wrong with your hands?"
"You mean these? Bethany showed him her hands and smiled, "I tried to lift the chandelier and was cut by some broken glass. It's nothing serious.”
Zayn relaxed and said, "Okay then.”
Bethany lowered her hands.
Suddenly, the sounds of the stomach growling could be heard. Zayn appeared embarrassed.
Bethany looked over and smiled, "Wait a while, Mr. Meyer, I'll head out u get you something to eat”
She walked toward the couch and took her handbag and left the room.
Half an hour later, Bethany returned with some food.
Zayn was not picky and ate each spoonful of porridge that Bethany served to him.
After finishing the porridge, Bethany gave few painkillers to him. Zayn fell asleep soon after. She covered him with the blanket and sat on the chair next to his bed.
She felt increasingly flustered as she looked at him. She could not forget the moment he spat out blood after saving her from the falling chandelier.
At this moment, she realized that not only did her heart skip a beat, but she had also fallen in love with him once again.
She felt very despicable at the thought of her old feelings awakening. At this moment, she had no other intention but to get rid of her very own heart and set it ablaze.
Just as she was thinking of this, her phone suddenly rang. She wiped her eyes and took the phone before heading out of the room to answer the phone.
Jenna pouted as she said, "Miss Burnett, when will you come?”
Bethany looked at her daughter and said tenderly,“ I'm afraid that would take some time, something happened over here and l cant is back as planned. Do you miss mommy”
“Yes I miss you” Jenna nodded.
Then Vella snatched the phone and frowned “Mommy, what happened”
Bethany at Zayn and then replied with a smile“of course it's work concern. Don't worry so much”
She promised Gael not to say anything about Zayn's injury.
“Of course, I won the task further." Vella shrugged her shoulders and then suddenly said, 'Oh yes, today when school ended, an old man tried to stop Jenna and me”
“Old man? Bethany frowned and became very Concerned, "What was he like?"
Jenna quickly raised her hand, "Mommy, I know that old man looked very stern and he has a mole over here." Jenna pointed to her chin.
Bethany suddenly thought of someone, Ricardo Medina, her uncle!
Bethany gripped her cell phone tightly and pursed her lips tightly.
"Mommy, what's wrong?" Jenna saw her strange behavior and looked closely at her.
Bethany took a deep breath and composed herself, "Mommy's fine. Honey, did that old man do anything to you two?”
Both Jenna and Vella shook their heads and answered, "No, he just looked at me and left. He did not even speak a word," Jenna replied.
Bethany tried to relax but her mind was racing. She could not believe that Ricardo simply wanted to see the little girl since he had never met her before he was simply there at Danica's behest. He had no feelings for his own family so how could he suddenly have any feelings for other people's kids?
So regardless of what was Ricardo's intention, Jenna could not remain at the kindergarten.
Bethany looked sternly at her children and said, "Jenna, don't go to the kindergarten from tomorrow onwards. I will call your teacher and when I come back, I'll find a new kindergarten for you."
"Why mommy?" Jenna was puzzled and asked.
Vella suspected something and rubbed her chin as she asked, "Was it because of that old man? Mommy, who is he?
