“Are you gonna stop with your nonsense and get in the car or should I send you off?” He yelled.
Feeling the intensity of his gaze on her, Danica grudgingly put aside her anger and got into the car.
When she got into the car, she gawked at Erica angrily as she pushed her aside to make space for herself.
Erica wasn't in the mood to put up a fight with her and not in front of the kids like this, so she simply ignored her tantrums and gave way for her to sit. Zayn looked at them through the rearview mirror and saw that they had settled down. So, he ignited the car and zoomed off.
They rode in silence until they got to the venue of the event. Just as they got ready to go into the park, Danica suddenly received a phone call from someone.
She excused herself and went away to answer the call. After a few minutes of back and forth, she came wearing a gloomy expression and the looks on her face suggested that she was in no way staying with them at the park.
Zayn looked up at her and asked, “What's wrong?”
Danica looked aggrieved and said, “I'm sorry but I don't think I can stay for the event, something just came up. It's a matter of life and death” she quivered as she said those words.
“You should attend to it then. Not like you'll do anything if you are here anyways” Zayn sneered.
“It's not what you think, zayn. This is serious”.
“Go ahead then”
“I'll try to make it back here if everything is sorted out” With that, she turned around and left in such a big hurry Erica wondered what the matter could be.
“So your mommy is gone. Great! Just great!” Jenna exclaimed.
“Let's go in,” Zayn said. However, immediately after he said those words Erica clutched her stomach and squatted back in pain. “What's wrong? Are you alright, Miss Burnett?” Zayn asked as he looked at her with worry.
“Mommy, is it so bad? What did you eat?” Jenna came over and held Erica's shoulders as she asked with fear in her eyes.
“Mr. Zayn, my mommy wasn't feeling too well earlier, I thought she had a mild stomach and she would be alright before you know but it's getting worse now. You two should go ahead, I'll take mommy to the hospital” she urged in an adult-like manner that made her look very mature.
Hearing her words, Zayn was touched by the kind of intimacy between both mother and daughter. He wished he had such chemistry with his son as well.
“Jenna goes ahead and with Jordan, the driver will take me to the hospital. Don't worry about me” Erica managed to say through gritted teeth. It felt as if she was in so much pain and couldn't help it.
“No mommy, I'll come with you”
“Miss Burnett, I'll get someone to take you to the hospital just now,” Zayn said.
“Not it's fine, Mr. Meyer. It's just the usual matter, there is no need to panic about it”
When she said that, Zayn quickly understood what she meant and nodded his head.
“Mr. Meyer, you should take the kids away with you to the family fair. They will feel better than having nothing at all”.
Both the kids wore press expressions soon and didn't dare to yell out their grievances.
Instead, they felt pity for Erica. Just as they looked on, the driver arrived and took Erica into the car. Then, he drove off.
“How can we have fun when we don't even have a Mommy?”
After that Zayn took hold of the little kids and was about to go into the hall when he suddenly bumped into someone.
“I'm so sorry. I didn't watch my way” The person apologized. Zayn raised his head to look at the person he bumped into.
However, he was instantly shocked at the appearance of the woman in front of him.
“Mr. Meyer?” Bethany asked as she tried to balance her steps from slipping away.
“What are you doing here?”.
“My friend is supervising an event over here, so she asked for my help”
“Oh, I see”.
“Daddy, is she your friend? She can be our mommy for the day, right Jenna?” Jordan said as his eyes lit up with happiness.
“No, don't be silly. She's here for work. She can't be your mommy”.
“Why not? Why can't she be our mommy for just today?” Jenna asked with an aggrieved look. Bethany was very much sure that she was going to put on a show just like this.
“It's alright, Mr. Meyer. I'm not too busy anyway. I can stand in for their mommy for just today. it's no big deal at all” Bethany said.
When the kids heard what she said, they jumped up in joy and cheered as if they had just found a long-lost treasure.
Jenna was overjoyed! seeing the joy on her face, Bethany heaved a sigh of relief.

He walked into the kindergarten together with the children. He attracted a lot of attention. Zayn was handsome, Bethany was pretty and the two children were cute. They attracted a lot of attention for being such a good-looking family.
A few minutes later, the kindergarten teacher finished taking attendance and everyone arrived. They then told everyone to head to the amusement park.
The children had never been to an amusement park before, especially Jordan.
They were curious about everything they saw. It was crowded in the amusement park. Bethany was worried that they would lose the children and hence she held Jordan's hand while Zayn held Jenna's.
They followed the teacher's instructions and brought them rides that were suitable for children and families. They were at it for many hours. Soon, Bethany was tired and she didn't want to move anymore. Zayn was fine.
Due to his injury, he didn't join in the fun too much. He was taking pictures the whole time and hence he wasn't tired But the children were still very energetic. They yelled excitedly and wanted to go on the Ferris wheel.
"They can go alone, and we'll sit there while we wait for them," said Zayn as he pointed at a beverage shop yonder.
Bethany looked in the direction he was pointing and noticed that the shop was right under the Ferris wheel.
She could take a rest and watch over the children at the same time. She nodded in agreement.
"Good idea.”
They walked towards the shop.
When they arrived at the shop, Bethany ordered some drinks for the children. She also got herself a juice and asked Zayn,
"What would you like to drink, Mr. Meyer?"
"Plain water." Zayn wasn't interested in the other drinks.
"Okay." Bethany then ordered plain water.
The shopkeeper bought them the drinks very soon.
Bethany passed Zayn the water and said, "Mr. Meyer, thank you for today. I don't know how to thank you for this. I got to experience a new kind of feeling"
"No need to thank me. I should be the one thanking you instead, you saved the day. It would be great if you could stop bringing me soup," said Zayn as he took a sip of water.
Bethany blinked, "Why? You haven't fully recovered from your injury."
Zayn pursed his lips, "No reason, just stop doing it.” The way he answered made Bethany feel dejected. She nodded and said, "Okay, I understand”
Suddenly, Zayn's phone was ringing.
He glanced at it and told Bethany that he had gotten it. He stood up and took the call in a quieter place. After a while, he was done talking on the phone and he came back with a heavy look on his face.
Bethany couldn't help but ask upon seeing him like that, "Mr. Meyer, is everything okay? You can head back first if there's something important."
"It's okay. I'll go visit her tomorrow answered Zayn moodily.
"Visit who?" asked Bethany curiously.
"A friend has to do surgery tomorrow”
Zayn pulled out a chair and sat down.
Bethany instantly knew who he was talking about. It had to be Jessica. He looked so worried and anxious after the call.
It was like what Jeff said, Zayn loved Jessica, and Bethany's eyes turned dim at this. Zayn noticed it and was about to say something, but the children came running to them.
They were covered in sweat.Bethany hid her sadness and quickly took out tissue papers from her bag. She wiped off their sweat.
After that, Zayn passed the children the drinks they got just now. They were probably really thirsty as they gulped down the drinks.
Bethany patted their backs lightly and said, “Drink slowly, you'll choke."
“Okay, okay,” they replied vaguely, but they continued gulping down the drinks vigorously. Bethany couldn't help but shake her head.
"It's so good!" Jordan let out a content sigh after finishing the drink. He placed the cup on the table.
Jenna copied him and did the same thing.
Her lips were dirty because of the drink, but she still looked cute. Zayn looked at them adoringly. He grabbed a piece of tissue paper from the tissue packet that Bethany took out earlier and wiped Jenna's mouth. He was gentle about it.
Bethany's face twitched slightly upon seeing the scene. She felt sad and wanted to say something, but in the end, she didn't.
"Mommy," said Jordan as he tugged at his supposed mother's hand. He snapped Bethany out of her daydream. He said the amusement park is fun. Let's come again!"
“Sure, I'll ask your daddy to bring you guys again next time, '' said Bethany as she ruffled his head.
She then pushed him towards Zayn and said, "But you guys should thank him. He accompanied us even though he was injured."
The children immediately said thank you upon hearing that. Jenna waved at Zayn and said, "Mr. Zayn, can you lower your head?"
"Why?” Zayn lowered his eyes as he looked at her. Bethany also looked at Jenna puzzledly.
She didn't know what Jenna was planning to do. Jenna pouted seeing that Zayn wasn't doing what she said, "You'll find out soon. Can you please lower your head?"
Zayn did as she said. Jenna tipped her toes and gave Zayn a peck on his cheek.
She then said something extremely shocking, "Mr. Meyer, Jordan likes my mommy a lot and I also like you so much as well. Can you get married to mommy and become our real parents? Then you won't be a stand-in anymore."
"What?" Bethany spat her drink out. Zayn was also flabbergasted.


Jenna's eyes brightened up, "Yeah, Mr. Zayn. Please be our daddy."
