“What else do you have to say to me, Benny? You always have your way but I won't allow you to play games with your very own life like this. If you are bothered about yourself, at least think of little Jenna” Erica was furious as she continuously yelled at Bethany without caring about the people in her surroundings.
“You are yelling, Erica. watch your tone” Bethany reminded her in a calm, cold voice that was capable of sending shivers of fear down the spine of others. However, Erica wasn't in the mood to pay attention to her tone of voice at this time.
“Why shouldn't I tell at you? who are you to take such actions?” she asks in an authoritative tone
“Fine, calm down. I'll explain everything in detail to you once you come back to the country.”
Bethany lowered her voice and said in a calm warm voice that Erica was forced to listen to her immediately.
“I'm well aware that you were going to bail yourself out of my scoldings. Moreover, I want you to give me reasons for this matter, so fine”.
Erica shrugged her shoulders as if Bethany was there to see reactions.
“That reminds me, why aren't you back in the country yet? I supposed you should have reached home by now, what happened?”.
Bethany quickly realized this and instantly went ahead to ask questions.
Hearing her questions, Erica sighed dejectedly as she looked around the place before replying.
“Our flight has been delayed for four hours due to bad weather, we are at the airport right now as we speak. We'll be back in the orange city in the morning, I think we are always running into bad luck. with the flights ” Erica said resignedly.
“Okay, how is my daughter doing? did she have fun in the Maldives? I hope she didn't lack anything?”
she sounded concerned and the tone of her voice was very warm.it was as if she was dying to see her child.
“You don't have to worry about her, she's fine. That daughter of yours is so sneaky, you won't believe she made a new friend here in the Maldives and didn't have enough time for me at all She was always in the mood for adventures, I cant tell you all about it on the phone”.
“It's fine, let's talk when you get back here. He came around today" Bethany uttered after a while.
“What? why?«.
“Birthday he said”.
“Come on, that's trash. it's so gross” Erica sneered while rolling her eyes.
“Be safe out there and let me know when you are back. good night"
“ Alright, be good and don't get in trouble”
With that, Bethany ended the conversation. Then she dropped the phone on the bed as she walked toward the bathroom with a towel in her hand.
The next day, in Blue Ridge Company.
Bethany arrived at the company. When Ella saw Bethany, she asked happily, "Hey, Bethany, how're your family's affairs?"
“What family's affairs?" Bethany looked at her in confusion, not knowing what she meant.
"Well, Mr. Gabson said your family has urgent matters to deal with, so you're on leave," Ella asked her smilingly.
Bethany then understood that Mr. Meyer did not want to reveal her privacy to the company.
"Yes, it's almost done." Bethany nodded.
"That's good. I'm busy dealing with the heavy workload in your absence. I've never had a day off since you took leave." Ella tiredly rubbed her temples. "Now you're back, and I can finally take a good rest.
“Okay." Bethany nodded and asked, "Is Mr. Meyer in the office yet?"
"Yes." Ella nodded.
“I need to talk with him.", Bethany pointed to Meyer's office and walked over.
Ella now remembered that she had something to tell Bethany. But Bethany was now knocking on the door of Zayn's office.
"Come in." Zayn's cold voice sounded. Bethany opened the office door and walked in. Mr. Meyer stared expressionlessly at the financial statement, without even looking up. Bethany was frozen for a moment. She felt that she had disturbed him
but she had already come in. She wanted to tell him that she came back to work.
Bethany found that Zayn did not look at her and could only take the initiative to say, "Mr. Meyer"
When Zayn heard the voice of Bethany, his hand on the mouse trembled a little. He turned off excels which was opened not long before.
"Are you back?" Mr. Meyer looked at Bethany in surprising expression, but he still didn't have any emotions on his face and asked, "How are you doing?"
“Thank you, Mr. Meyer, for your concern. I'm fine now." Bethany smiled.
At least he is good to his employees.
"That's fine then." Zayn opened his mouth. On several times, he wanted to ask Bethany to stay where she had been and not bother coming back to work for a few more days as he felt greatly responsible for what had happened other than that day. But words were just stuck in the voice box.
“I'll leave now,” Bethany said as she turned around to leave the office, Then she left in large strides for her workstation.
After Bethany got a preliminary understanding of the Oceania Project, she attempted to access the office's database to check the current design styles of the Blue Ridge company and then come up with a corresponding first draft based on the styles in the database.
However, she found out that she could not access the database like others.
“Ella, is there something wrong with the database?” Bethany quietly beckoned on Ella, who was sitting close to her. She tapped her shoulders gently.
“No, everything looks fine on my end. Did you enter the wrong employee identity number?” Ella turned around and came over to have a look at the problem she was facing.
Bethany shook her head vigorously as she replied in a firm voice, “I've checked the employee ID so many times and everything appears to be alright "
“Then I presumed that the issue has popped up because your employ ID was not recorded in the system. Perhaps you should ahead and ask Miss Joanna about this matter, she must know something ” Ella suggested.
Hearing this Bethany frowned bitterly as she was reluctant about going to ask Joanna for help.
“Ella, can I borrow your employee card to access the site first?” She asked in a gentle voice.
“No, I can't do that ” Ella immediately rejected, “Bethany, it's not like I don't want to help out. It's just that this information is very confidential and can only be viewed once a week and can't be printed out of the system. If I allow you to borrow mine, then I won't be able to get access to the site when I need to use it”
“Oh I see! ... if that's the case...” Bethany bit her lips.
Now, she was only left with only one option and that's to go to Joanna for help.
Bethany sighed dejectedly. After sighing, Bethany picked her files and limped toward the chief designer's office.
When she got to the door, she knocked on the door that was barely closed.
“Miss Joanna”
“Why have you come here? What are you doing in my office?” The expression on Joanna's face instantly changed upon laying her eyes on Bethany, who was limping on one foot.
“I need to check the information in the database but I can't seem to access It with my employee ID. May I know what the reason behind this is?” Joanna glared at Bethany indifferently as she spoke in a cold, arrogant voice.
Hearing the tone of her voice, her doubts were confirmed. Bethany had thought that the matter must have something to do with Joanna.
She didn't face any form of hurdle yesterday and today, she was faced with such a big problem?.
There must be a certain problem how matter how hard she thought about this fact.
As expected, Joanna quickly admitted to being involved with the problem she was facing. She said, “I was the one who deleted your employee ID from the system ".
Bethany wasn't surprised by this fact, she simply pursed her lips and asked.“Why?”.
“You're asking me why I have your employee ID deleted from the system?” Joanna leaned back on her chair, folded her arms around her chest, and said in an arrogant voice like a boss, “It's simply because you aren't an official employee of the Blue Ridge company. You are just a more helper, who'd go easy after a while, so I can't take the risk of allowing you to access the database, what if you ended up stealing the information co gained in the database?”
Bethany was speechless.
“Why would I want to do something like that? I won't such a thing” Bethany said in a serious tone.
Joanna scored disdainfully, “Have you ever seen a thief who would admit to ever stealing anything before?”.
Hearing her words of accusations, Bethany did not say anything else as she was left with no other word of retort.
Joanna was deliberately trying to make things very difficult for her. She couldn't just let her have her way and bully her like this.
Bethany's eyes darkened as she glared at Joanna ferociously. Then, she turned around as she prepared to leave.
This scene was very familiar to Joanna. She narrowed her eyes, and the tone of her voice was very sharp, “Stop! Are you trying to go after Zayn once again?”.
