Joanna didn't notice Bethany had calmed down. The panic of being unable to defend herself when Bethany was framed just now was almost gone.
Joanna snorted. "Daphne can't accept someone stealing my position at the company. I provoked her a little, and she naturally came to you. Zayn won't cancel my position within the company because of her.”
"Why? Bethany's look evaded and she continued to make her talk.
Joanna replied triumphantly, "Because everyone knows that you are a mistress. If Zayn cancels me, he'll suffer from public criticism and the stock price of Blue Ridge Group will fall. Zayn is a smart businessman. He knows what to do and what not to do."
"Indeed." A look of irony flashed across Bethany's face.
Joanna suddenly pulled down her face.“ I just didn't expect that Daphne would be hurt, but I'm not scared about that. You're a ready-made scapegoat."
"Are you so sure that no one knows the truth? Bethany raised her eyebrow.
Joanna let out an evil smile. "Of course, there is no surveillance camera here. I can say anything I want. Not to mention those from the design department, they're all my witnesses."
"Oh really.." Bethany looked up. She glimpsed at the vent above them without being noticed and retrieved her look. "I have a question. You seem to hate Daphne, why? Isn't she your mother?"
"It's none of your business. Why should I tell you?" Joanna roared as if her raw nerve had been touched.
Seeing this, Bethany shrugged. "I'm just curious."
Joanna snorted. "You'd better think about how to deal with what I'm doing next rather than being curious about what happened between me and Daphne!" Joanna glanced at her contemptuously and walked to the elevator in her high heels.
Bethany watched the elevator door close slowly and didn't stay there for long.
After tidying her hair a little, she pushed the door of the big office open and went in.
Before long, the news that Bethany seduced Zayn and injured Daphne was spread all over the office building by Joanna.
For a time, Bethany was notorious and was criticized everywhere. If it was someone else, that person might not have the pride to stay in the company any longer.
But Bethany was different. She worked, ate, and drank as usual, and was surprisingly calm as if she was not the one being in trouble.
Just then, a designer-led two police officers to come over and point at Bethany.
"That's her."
Bethany stood up. Two policemen stopped in front of her. One of them took out his badge, showed it to her, and said, "Hello, Ms. Quest, we received a report that you've deliberately pushed someone and
caused the person a moderate concussion, which has constituted the crime of secondary injury. Please come with us and cooperate with the investigation."
Hearing his indisputable words, Bethany knew she must go, so she nodded and agreed.
What made her surprised was Daphne's injury was so serious that she had a moderate concussion. It seemed that Joanna had pushed her intending to kill her.
Thinking of this, Bethany's look went gloomy. Then, with everyone watching, she followed the policemen to the police station.
After arriving at the police station, an auxiliary policeman took her mobile phone and took her to a room. Bethany looked up at the door plate of the room. She became nervous and as soon as she wanted to ask something.
She was vigorously pushed in by the auxiliary policeman. After staggering a few steps forward, her stomach directly hit the corner of the interrogation table in the middle of the room.
The pain made her gasp, and her forehead broke out in cold sweat.
The policeman, acted as if didn't see it, pulled a chair, and sat down.
He knocked on the table. "Sit down opposite me, I'm going to start recording your statement!"
Bethany didn't do it. She covered her stomach and looked at him with a gloomy look. "Officer, I'm here just to cooperate with the investigation. Now you haven't confirmed that I hurt someone, so what right do you have to take me into the interrogation room?" The policeman didn't expect her to say so. He looked at her in surprise.
"Oh, it seems that you still don't accept it? Why did we bring you here to the interrogation room? You've come to the police station. Isn't it enough to prove that you've pushed someone?"
"What?" Bethany was stunned by his remarks. She reacted several seconds later, her face flushed due to rage. "How ridiculous, I came to the police station with you because I've pushed someone? Then does it mean everyone who came to the police station had committed a crime? Where's the police chief? I want to see your chief!"
With that, she walked towards the door. A cold look flashed across the policeman's face. He suddenly stood up, picked up the baton, and hit her on the back.
Bethany screamed. She immediately fell to the ground and she looked at the policeman with great pain and disbelief.
The policeman stood in front of her and looked at her condescendingly. "Till I advise you to be a good girl. Someone's told us that as long as we don't go out of line, we can teach you some lessons.”
Hearing that, Bethany was dumbfounded.
It turned out that the policeman was bribed to force her to plead guilty. That was why she was taken straight into the interrogation room!
As for who bribed them, she couldn't think of anyone else except Joanna. Seeing that Bethany had calmed down, the policeman threw the baton aside.
"Say it, why did you push Daphne Dean?
Bethany stood up from the ground and said hoarsely, "I didn't push her!"
The tip of the policeman's pen stopped.
"Still don't want to admit it?" Bethany sneered. "Why should I admit something I've not done?" "You! The policeman was speechless by her words. In the end, he even used strong lights and psychological coercion, but Bethany still denied pushing Daphne.
The policeman scratched his head irritably, and he had no way to deal with her at all.
Although that person said they could teach her some lessons, they couldn't torture her. In desperation, the policeman can only detain Bethany.
Bethany stood by the door shouting to go out, but every policeman who passed by the interrogation room seemed to not hear her.
Eventually, Bethany was tired of shouting and she went back to her chair to sit down.
She didn't have a mobile phone, so she can't contact anyone outside, and she can't see the time. She can only wait anxiously for someone to come in.
She doubted that they would dare to keep her detained all the time. Not knowing how long had passed, the temperature in the interrogation room suddenly dropped, and Bethany was shivering with cold.
After a while, she felt her head dizzy, as if the whole world was spinning. Then with a blackout, she collapsed onto the interrogation table. But before she lost consciousness, she vaguely saw the door of the interrogation room open and a familiar tall figure came In.
"Is it Mr. Meyer?" Bethany asked. The person didn't answer. Bethany groaned and wanted to open her eyes to see clearly, but her eyes were too heavy-lidded.
Finally, she couldn't hold it anymore and she passed out. Bret looked down at her. Light reflected on his glasses. He reached out and carried her up.
The moment he got out of the police station, a black Bentley stopped in front of him. The car door was opened, and Zayn got out of the caraandawcarriedg Bethany, his eyes suddenly
became gloomy. But then he found that Bethany's eyes were closed and her face was abnormally red. Without caring for the discomfort he felt, he asked in a deep voice,
“ What's the matter with her?"
"She has a fever," Bent replied blandly and looked at him. "Aren't you accompanying Jessica for surgery? Why did you suddenly come over?" Zayn didn't answer but stretched out his hand instead. "Give her to me!”.
