Joanna noticed Zayn's unusual behavior. Then, she traced his stare and saw the red marks on Bethany's neck.
Suddenly her pupils constricted and she felt a strong sense of danger.
She was so gripped with fear that she struggled to breathe.
As an observer, Joanna was able to see clearly what was happening. The way he looked at Bethany's marks on the neck showed that he was jealous.
He had known Bethany for such a short time and now he already had feelings for her.
In comparison, Danica was on this site for five years and he had no interest in her.
She decided there and then that she had to drive Bethany away as soon as possible otherwise she would not have a moment's peace. Thus, Joanna clenched her fists tightly and began to scheme.
The meeting ended and everyone started to leave until only the three of them remained.
Bethany approached Zayn and was about to discuss something regarding the models.
Suddenly, the conference room door opened and a tall man entered.
"Zayn! It's been a long time!” The man laughed as he greeted Zayn.
Zayn narrowed his eyes and looked at him calmly and said, "Bent Meyer!”
“Bent Meyer? Are they related?” Bethany was stunned as she thought of this possibility.
In the past, she was aware of the fact that Zayn had only one sibling-a girl and she has been staying with her aunt all along.
She never got the chance to meet her. Apart from that, she has heard about Zayn's numerous cousins but she has only met a handful of them, and Joanna was one of them.
Bethany then looked curiously at him and was startled when she saw Bent's face. It was him!
Joanna noticed Bethany's reaction and suddenly Joanna asked, “Bethany, do you know Bent?”
On hearing this, Zayn shifted his attention to Bethany to confirm if what Joanna said was true.
Bethany looked back at Zayn, nodded, and shook her head while she said, "I just met him once...”
Before she could finish, Bent interrupted her, he pretended to be sad, and said coyly, "How can you be so heartless to say this? I came toda,y, especially for you.”
“Came especially for me? Bethany pointed at herself and was surprised.
“Yeah, I checked and found out that you're working here, so I came to visit you.” Bent started to walk towards her.
Bethany did not want to be so close to him and started to retreat backward Zayn but before she got away, Bent managed to grab a hold of her.
Bent chuckled, "Why are you dodging me? Am I so detesting? Last night you did not avoid me!”.
Last night? Zayn was stunned at this point.
He was about to pull Bethany to his side but now his hand paused for a moment before he retracted it.
His expression turned gloomy as he realized that the marks on her neck were left by Bent!
What Zayn was able to deduce was the same as what Joanna thought.
Additionally, Bent's tone is so flirtatious.
“Bent, what is your relationship with Bethany?” Joanna took the opportunity to add fuel to the tire Zayn seemed eager to find out as well.
Bent's eyes sparkled, grinned, and said mischievously, "Isn't it obvious?"
Bethany glared at him and understood what he implied.
She instantly fumed and blushed at the same time until her face was crimson.
Joanna spoke just as Bethany was about to, "Of course, I could see. I just wanted to confirm it."
What she could not figure out was why was Beth so fortunate to be able to capture the hearts of able men such as Zayn and now even Bent.
But that was a good turn of events as if she could help to get Bethany involved with Bent that would mean that Zayn would give up on Bethany.
On thinking this, Joanna tugged Zayn's arms and then said, "Zayn, it's so unexpected that Bethany and Bent are now a couple.”
A couple?
Zayn's lips pursed tightly and he was annoyed by what she said.
Bethany was furious and then quickly explained," Ms. Meyer, you're mistaken. I don't even know this Mr. Meyer.”
Bethany looked at Zayn as if she did not want/him to misunderstand her.
However, Zayn did not reveal any hint of his feelings. She could not sense if he believed what she said. She suddenly felt rather disappointed.
“Are you still very angry with me?”
Bethany was stunned and puzzled when she asked, “What are you talking about? Why should I be angry with you?”
“Of course, it was because I left without bidding goodbye to you, that was why....” Bent jokes.
“Enough!" Zayn suddenly stood up and seemed to realize something. Left without bidding goodbye.
“Zayn, what's wrong with you?" Joanna pretended not to know why zayn reacted in that manner.
Zayn did not bother with her and looked coldly at Bethany and Bent.
He then said emotionlessly,“ This is the Blue ridge company and not a place for you to dwell with romantics!"
He was mistaken!
Bethany bit her lower lip and said, "Mr. Meyer, I'm not...”
“You're right, then I'll speak with Benny outside."
Bent pulled Bethany out of the conference room without allowing her to finish.
"What are you doing? Let go of me!” Bethany tried to struggle free from him but Bent held her hand firmly. Bent managed to pull her out of the conference room.
Zayn looked angrily as they left the room. Joanna then said, "Zayn, Bent seemed to
have some misunderstandings with Bethany”.
Zayn ignored her, pulled a long face, and left the conference room.
As soon as he walked out, he saw Bent and Bethany entering the elevator.
Bent finally released Bethany when they were inside the elevator.
Bethany massaged her painful wrist and said angrily to him, "Mr. Meyer, why did you say those things to mislead them? We only met yesterday and why did you say about the past years. What are you trying to do?”.
"Don't you understand that I like you? Bent adjusted the pair of golden spectacles on his nose.
Bethany scoffed and said, "Like me? Do you think that I will believe such frivolous lies?”
Bent shrugged his shoulders and replied, “I know that you won't believe but I'm telling you the truth; I fell in love with you at the first sight. as to why I said that I knew you for years, I did that so that others would think that we had been together for a while and then other men will not come near you.”
Bethany's expression immediately changed for the worst and said, "Mr. Meyer, do you know that your actions are despicable? Not only was he despicable, but it was also outright insane! ”
She did not want to be anywhere close to such a person. She took a deep breath and composed herself before reaching to press the lift buttons.
Bent sidestepped and blocked the control panel and said, "Okay, I admit that I was wrong. Then can I give you a treat as a form of apology?”
“Don't bother!” Bethany coldly rejected him.
When the lift reached the basement, once again, he dragged her towards his car and forcibly pushed her into the car.
Bethany had no way out and went along with him for a meal Then, he suddenly received a call and left looking very troubled.
Bethany took a cab back to the Blue Ridge group as soon as she entered the company lobby, a crowd gathered and started to point at her and murmur about her.
That's her She had a scandal with Mr. Zayn Meyer and now she is screwing Mr. Bent Meyer”.
“Yeah. I heard that she was already married to someone else in the past. How can she seduce other men? How shameless!”
“What do you know? Perhaps she blames her husband for not having enough money and wants to find a richer man!"
Bethany frowned when she heard these comments and became unsettled. What was going on? All she did was have a meal with Bent and now they started to say that she was shameless.
This. just be Joanna working behind the scenes.
Bethany just held a straight face and walked through the crowd.
They did not expect her to walk over and quickly kept quiet as they looked awkwardly at her.
“Who said that I am screwing Mr. Bent Meyer?” Bethany asked them coldly. They looked at each other and then someone said, "Those in your design department said in the group chat."
"Design department?" Bethany pursed her lips and then realized what was happening. She then ignored them and walked.
When she arrived at the design department, she heard the same remarks from her colleagues. She walked to her work area calmly and picked up a magazine. She then threw it down onto her desk with a loud bang and startled everyone.
Then, she raised her head and stood in the middle.
Bethany looked at everyone coldly and said solemnly, "Who were directed by Joanna to spread these rumors about me and Mr. Bent Meyer? Step out now!”
She shouted at the top of her lungs and everyone was immediately startled by her sudden change of attitude.
No one has expected her to react this way!
