When she woke up the next morning, she found herself in Zayn's embrace and felt unsettled. She quickly Composed herself and eased herself out of his embrace trying not to wake him up in the process otherwise she would have a hard time explaining the situation.
"Hoof.." She exclaimed in relief and picked up her shoes and left.
Zayn woke up soon after she left. He was still feeling drowsy and realized that he was covered in a pink-colored blanket. He picked up the blanket and went to the bathroom to wash up. By the time he was out of the bathroom, his phone had been vibrating non-stop on the coffee table.
Zayn dried his hair as he answered the call, "What's up?
"Mr. Meyer, you were right. It was Ben whowanted old Mr. Meyer's burial ground." Gael reported.
Zay narrowed his eyes and asked, "What's his objective?
“According to the person I sent to survey the land, there may be crystal ores beneath the burial ground.”
"Crystal ores? Zayn paused for a moment and then scoffed, "So that's the reason. Send some men to keep an eye on them. If they ever try to touch my father's burial ground, make sure you chop off their hands!" He would never allow anyone to touch his father's grave!
"Understood!" Gael braced up in response to Zayn's order.
Zayn threw aside the towel and asked, "Is there anything else?"
“There is one more issue but I can't be sure."
Gael paused and said, “Our men who were overseas surveilling Ben said that they've lost track of his whereabouts. My guess is he had already come back to the country but is hiding.”
“Then look for him!" Zayn ordered furiously.
"Yes!” Gael answered immediately.
After finishing the call, zayn picked up the blanket and walked towards the apartment next door.
Bethany was washing her face when she heard the bell ring. She shouted towards the door, she paused as soon as she heard the doorbell ring.
She quickly finished washing her hands and headed over to the door. When she opened the door, she was surprised to see the man and asked, "Mr. Meyer, why are you here?"
Zayn peered down at Bethany who only stood nearly as tall as his chest, and his cold eyebrows softened, “Did I come at the wrong hour, maybe?”
"Not really, come inside." Bethany pointed towards the inside, she then turned sideways to make way for the door,“ Please come in, Mr. Meyer."
"Sorry to disturb you." Zayn nodded slightly. After he entered the house, Bethany faced the washroom and shouted, " Please have a seat first”
"Me. Meyer, please take a seat, I will be here in a minute."
“Alight" Zayn laid the quilt and sat down. He was puzzled while he looked at the quilt.
Bethany was emotionless. However, she quickly put on a smile before saying, “Meyer”
Zayn's expression was a little subtle, “This is yours?”
“Yeah, ” Bethany confirmed.
Zayn pursed his lips and did not say a word anymore. He had mixed emotions.
He thought this quilt was brand new and never imagined that it was used by her before.
What was weirder was the fact that he didn't mind it. He was even disgusted by Danica's belongings, but Bethanys.
“Mr. Meyer”, Bethany called out and broke his train of thought, Zayn looked at him, What's wrong?”
Zayn shifted his gaze and saw Bethany carrying a cup of coffee from the kitchen.
“My apologies Mr. Meyer. I made you wait. I took some time to comb my hair and have it done.” Bethany smiled apologetically.
"It's nothing," Zayn stood up and replied.
Bethany noticed that he recovered from last night and looked a little tranced.
If it weren't for the faint pain in her wrist, she thought everything that happened last night was just an illusion.
No matter how strong a person appeared to be, there was undoubted, a fragile side of him that couldn't be seen.
“That's right Mr. Meyer. Are you sober now?” Bethany seems to be concerned and asked. At the same time.
Yes, I am." Zayn nodded.
"That's a relief. You should drink less in the future Mr. Meyer, It's too dangerous to faint drunk like that," Bethany said in a tone filled with sincerity.
Zayn lowered his eyes and said softly, "It was my father's death anniversary yesterday, so l had a little too much to drink." Apart from that, no one knew that it was also his parent's death anniversary.
Bethany knew this matter already as she was right there Yesterday. Mr. Meyer has shown her nothing but love and support when he was still alive, so she felt obligated.
"I see, I'm so sorry Mr. Meyer, I didn't mean to.."
Zayn waved his hand before she could finish her sentence, "it's alright. "
Although he didn't pay any mind to that, Bethany still felt bad about it.
She pondered for a moment and changed the topic,“ Mr. Meyer, have you eaten breakfast? Let's Eat together if you haven't. I'll go prepare the food. You should drink some coffee while you wait, is that fine?”
She headed straight to the kitchen right after she finished her sentence and gave him no chance to reject her offer.
Zayn was now left alone in the living room to have a look at the environment. He looked at the cup of coffee that was placed beside him. It was steaming hot.
Zayn was bored of sitting around, so he stood up and walked around for a quick second. His bed was turned toward the kitchen while his attention was fixed on the series of pictures on the wall.
Each of the portraits was a picture of Bethany–one was during her graduation from the fashion school.
Meanwhile, Bethany came out of the kitchen to grab a few eggs. She went over to the freezer and took out three eggs. At first, she was about to return to the kitchen when her eyes fell on Zayn, who was still looking at her pictures.
She wanted to call out to him. However, she refrained from herself and quietly went back into the kitchen without saying a word.
On the other hand, Zayn had seen her when she came out of the kitchen. He didn't say a word to her either.
Zayn kept his eyes on her until she reached the kitchen with the two eggs, he then turned back and went back to his seat.
The cup of coffee had already steamed down a little, so he sat down and took a sip from the cup.
While drinking from the cup, his mind was fixed in a different direction. Zayn's eyes flashed and he came back to his senses, Nothing much. At that moment, Bethany came out of the kitchen carrying two dishes out of the kitchen.
She made her way out and shouted nonchalantly, ", Zayn, let's eat!"
Zayn slid down one leg from the top of the other as he was sitting with his legs crossed against each other. He stood up from the sofa at her call and tugged along as they walked towards the dining table.
Breakfast was simple. It was just normal porridge matched with some dishes at the side.
When Zayn tasted it, a sense of satisfaction welled up inside of him, even though it was far from Ms. Sue's cooking, it was also the first time he'd realized that having meals was not only to fulfill one's needs, but to also enjoy.
He enjoyed the atmosphere as he ate with her alone in the dining room; he found it relaxing.
After breakfast, Zayn brought her out of the house. And drove her to the Blue ridge Company since he was joining the same direction.
However, Bethany got off approximately a hundred meters away from the company, as she requested to do so.
If she was spotted arriving in Zayn's car, the news would spread to Danica. This would cause Some unnecessary trouble. That was why she decided to walk there on foot.
After ten minutes, Bethany arrived at the company. She had just put down her bag when one of the colleagues from the purchasing department came up to her, "Ms. Quest, we've run into some problems when ordering the cloth materials”
The colleague handed her a purchase list.
Bethany glanced at it suspiciously, "What's the problem?"
“You've requested too many types of materials, and the same type of cloth has many different models. We weren't sure of which one you wanted, so we couldn't place the order." The colleague forced a smile.
Bethany hit her face feeling vexed, "I'm so sorry. It was my mistake. I've forgotten that it's local." She would have chosen the best-fitted cloth material after she finished her design when she was overseas.
Hence, she would forget to label the model from time to time.
Her colleague understood and grinned, “It's alright. If that's the case, Ms. Quest”
“These clothes, I'll handle it”.
“There would be some subtle difference in the details even if it was a cloth of the same model. I'll pick them up myself to prevent further issues. Let me know the address," Bethany said.
Her colleague then passed someone's business card to her.
Bethany continued, "The Downey family?"
