“Sure, President Meyer. This way ”.
Gael led the way to the car and as soon as they settled in and the driver was busy waiting for instructions on where to go. Gael started with the reports on his schedule.
“You still have a dinner meeting at the Ocean palace with the investors. That's your last meeting for the night”.
He said looking up expectantly as he awaited further instructions.
The meeting was an important one and he needs to attend it first.
Just as Gael was waiting for his response, he suddenly heard the man speak directly to the driver while focusing his gaze on his lap; which was settled upon his laps as he consciously glanced at the screen.
“Go to the Spiral view cafe”. he spoke with an eerie and cold voice that the driver immediately switch on the ignition at the mention of this.
“But, President Meyer, the dinner meeting is starting in an hour. we don't have enough time to grab some refreshments. As it is, you don't like pastries, why would you want to go to the cafe now? You know how important it is to get to the meeting first, right?”.
“Do you even know what you're talking about? otherwise, shut up and watch”.
“I'm sorry, President Meyer”.
“Do you know the kinds of things to get for a child?” I want to get some pastries for the child and some other things as well”
Zayn said and his face flushed with embarrassment since the situation seemed like he hadn't been spending a lot with the child, and now he doesn't even know what he likes or not.
The last five years were spent on a different business trip that took over fee weeks, a few months, and even some times a year.
The man wanted to spend his time embedded in doing some productive work the pain he was relinquishing in at that time. Even when he learned about the birth of the child, he was unfazed by the news then.
The child remained a scar in his heart since he feels disheartened whenever he set his eyes on him– he was a reminder that Giselle couldn't stay with him because he was intertwined with Danica instead.
He didn't get to spend a lot of time with him, so you wouldn't blame him for not knowing about what he likes to eat during the time of his young growth.
“That's, not an issue, President Meyer. The maids just sent me all the things that your son likes including the ones you already know– which were the chocolate brands, I'm very sure you bought already and the pastries and other things”.
Gael listed them out while glaring at the screen of his phone. he wasn't familiar with the child as well so he needed help to get to know all about his daily routines and what he likes to eat.
“Is that? Go to the shops then. Get everything he would be needing ”.
Zayn finally raised his brows after seeing the image of Gael listing out the item while having a look at his phone. His reflection was exposed through the mirrors.
Gael was startled for a moment and he looked like he was in a daze as he looks as though he was trying to suppress the urge to ask several questions.
He couldn't believe what he just heard his boss say. He was going through all of these after a few years long and felt refreshing to finally see him care so much about someone. e en if it were his son in this case.
Suddenly, his phone rang out loud with a deafening sound which caused Zayn to frown his brows deeply as he couldn't bear the noise being released in his space.
His cold eyes moved from the laptop to the man and he was immediately welcomed with an apologetic look of the man.
“I'm so sorry, President Meyer. This is an important call. I promise to put it on silence after this”.
Immediately then, the car came to a screeching halt n front of a big and luxurious cafe – which looks like it was tastefully built to attract the attention of color lovers. There were different color combinations mixed with the decoration of the walls androgen the lights excludes the use of color.
“Should I go in and get the stuff or will you get them on your own?” Gael asked immediately the car was parked in front of the cafe.
He had wanted to go get them alone like he had always done but today seems very different so he called his attention to it.
To his wildest imagination, Zayn set his laptop aside and made of that of the car after straightening the edge of his pants.
Then, his long, slender legs stepped out of the car one after the other while Gael watched on with his mouth agape as he couldn't believe his eyes.
Zayn didn't bother to pay attention to him as he strode right through the door and went inside. Gael quickly came out of his daze and ran after him, chasing him into the place with a thud sound he pumped into the door.
While kneading the place that he had hurt. he held himself together and snapped out of his amusement to chase after his boss.
Meanwhile, Bethany had just arrived at the parking lot after they went into the hall.
She came out out of the car along with Sandra, who was helping her out with her handbag.
As soon as they got out, they headed directly to the pastries hall.
Just as the door to the hall slides open. Bethany got a call from someone, and she picked it up while walking down the hallway. she was so engrossed in the conversation that she didn't see anyone coming her way from the front.
It was too late by the time, she realized it as she ended up bumping into a human wall only then did her phone conversation comes to an end; since the phone smashed into the floor during the collision.
“I'm so sorry, it was my fault. I didn't pay enough attention to where I was going ” Bethany hurriedly apologized and bent over to pick up the items that had fallen to the floor.
She was immersed in helping the man out that she didn't bother to see the face of the person that she had slammed into.
“How could I have been so caressing with my moves? Now, I ruin your supplies. I'm so sorry but can I get another one for you instead? These are all ruined”.
The man, who had initially worn an icy expression and his cold eyes Carter around for a couple of minutes– at first he was so angry with how clumsy a woman like her could be but when he heard her voice he felt interestingly at ease; he didn't feel anymore, and the expression on his face suddenly became warm as he stared at the woman squatting on the floor in front of him
He straightened his neck as he struggled to get a look at the face of the person who had the power to make his heart stop beating for a couple of minutes with just the tone of her voice–No one else has ever made him feel this way in the last five years and he had spent every day thinking of the only woman in the world would have the power to make his heart fluttered with joy.
wait. could this woman had come back after five years?
He thought to himself while settling his gaze on her face but he couldn't see anything.
why so does my heart trump so much over a mere stranger?
Sandra was stunned upon seeing the man in front of her; she wanted to rush over and drag Bethany up to glance at the person standing there but she couldn't afford to do such a thing to the boss in a public place like this. She clenched her fists tightly as she waited for the woman to raise her head after the longest time.
“Thank God. we're still at the pastry shop, you can still get your orders– the similar one if you want”.
Bethany said with a smile breeding on her face as she attempted to stand up. Just right then, her gaze fell on the face of the man before her and she was speechless.
Her lips which were parted while she spoke earlier twitched with so much violence that caused Bethany to clutch her fingers tightly to stop her lips from the shake.
how is this any fun like this?
She thought glaring at the man intently; her gaze was fixed on him like she wanted to eat him up with her mere thoughts.
