Looking at the unsaved number, Bethany realized who it was so she replied.
“I'm not home yet, but I'm on my way back to the condominium now«.
Within a second, the person on the other side of the line soon replied with a simple word.
“Okay”.
Bethany did not care anymore as she threw her phone aside calmly as if she was used to this matter already. Then, she rest her head against the car again and closed her eyes.
After about half an hour's drive, they soon arrive at the apartment.
Bethany struggled to get a hold of herself. However, she didn't want to look weak in front of him and give him reasons to make her stay back at home.
She managed to step out of the car while maintaining a strong face.
After she got down from the car, she stood at the side of it while looking toward the car.
Zayn also came down from the car, he went to the car door of the back seat and immediately bent down to carry her to the building, “Which building do you live in?” he asked before trying to move her.
Bethany knew that he wanted to take them to the door of her house. However, she didn't want him to know the condominium she lives in, so when she was about to answer, she suddenly noticed not far away from where she was, walking towards them at a slow pace.
As the figure approached, she turned around to have a proper view of the person. She was startled when she saw the face. Then, she look back at Zayn and said.“ There is no need for that, Mr. Meyer. Someone is here to pick me up already. Thank you so much”
“Hmm?” Zayn turn to look in the direction where she was looking at.
It was a man!
It was a handsome, masculine man. He was dressed in a limited designer suit and glasses. want to trouble you

“Mr. Meyer, you did so much for me, I wouldn't want to trouble you any longer”.
Zayn immediately frowned his face in displeasure but he did not say anything as he only look on. However, he was still holding her hand since he thought that she wasn't stable enough to stand on her own.
On the other hand, the man continued walking in slow motion until he got to where they were standing.
Seeing him getting close, the expression on Bethany's face lit up pretentiously as she looked like she was indeed happy to see him.
The man also wore a warm smile on his face when he finally got to the spot they were standing.
When he was very close to them, one could finally see the full glory of the man behind the shadows.
The man came close to Bethany with a warm smile on his face as he left a slight kiss on Bethany's cheeks.
Seeing this scene, Zayn narrowed his eyes and felt slightly bad.
It was as if something that should have belonged to him was being stolen away by this man right here.
“Benny” He called out to her sweetly while still wearing a smile on his handsome face.
Bethany looked at him disdainfully and asked, “Why did you come back so soon?”
“Today is your birthday, remember? So I came back here to celebrate it with you. Sorry, I couldn't make it here on time, that's because I had an emergency when I came back here. I quickly needed to rush over to the hospital to attend to surgery immediately after I got off the plane earlier. By the time I was done with surgery, it was already too late so I had to spend the night at the hospital. And when I finally reached here, you weren't at home as well”. Jeffrey replied.
Bethany was fuming with her but she somehow hide her anger behind the fake smile as she said.“No wonder, I was wondering why you sent me a message asking if I was back. I thought you were just asking casually”.
“I just wanted to give you a surprise, but my bads, I was caught with something instead”.
Jeffrey looked at Zayn when his eyes finally left that of Bethany. When he saw Zayn's face, his pupil twitched violently.
“How come he looks so much like Jenna?...... Could he be...”
Jeffrey quietly looked down, making it impossible for anyone to notice the look of contempt in his eyes.
Soon after, the expression on his face returned to normal as if nothing has happened, then he asked in a suspicious tone, saying,“ Who is he?”.
“He's my boss, Mr. Zayn Meyer. He's the president of Blue Ridge company and hotels.” Bethany quickly interrupted seeing how Jeffrey was acting.
Hearing this, Jeffrey nodded his head and reached out his hand to Zayn for a handshake, “Hi Mr. Meyer, it's nice to finally meet you. I'm Jeffrey, a surgeon ”.
Zayn looked at his hand with a conflicted expression. However, he did not reach out his hand for a shake as he simply say indifferently.'Nice to meet you too' in a cold voice. Then, he turned to look at Bethany before saying.“ Since someone is here to pick you up, I'll leave first. ”
For some unknown reason, he hated this person to the bones!.
And he could also feel that this person was not as simple as he looked.
“Okay, goodbye, Mr. Meyer. Thank you for your kindness” Bethany said while smiling at the man, then she stroked the hair on her face to the side of her head.
After saying his goodbyes, Zayn didn't bother looking back as he got into his car and drove off immediately.
Bethany looked until the car disappeared out of sight before she turn around to glare at Jeffrey ferociously. Then, she leads the way with the man trailing behind her.
While driving along the way, Zayn's phone suddenly rang.
it was Gael calling.
He parked the car at the corner of the road before he picked up the phone. His voice was filled with eagerness and enthusiasm that he did not even notice at all.“ Have you found it out yet?”.
“Yes, President Meyer, The one who was supposed to be in a marriage contract with you back then was truly Miss Giselle, not miss Danica. Ms. Danica used Ms. Giselle's identity".
“Used her identity? Zayn asked in fury as he didn't like being given half story.
“Yes, president Meyer,
“What is the reason for such an act?”
Gael found it difficult to give the right so he simply changed the topic.
“The reason behind this matter has not been deciphered. I just thought to give you this update now”.
Hearing this, Zayn frowned bitterly.
“Find out the whole truth. I want to know why and how things got to this point"
“yes, President Meyer” Gael hurriedly responded before Zayn cut off the connection without warnings.
After sending the call, Zayn kicked out on the steering as he felt frustrated from within.
He threw the phone into the passenger seat and restarted the car after relieving himself of the anger in his chest.
Meanwhile, Bethany walked over to the door of her condominium with Jeffrey standing behind her. She looked very furious as she took out the bunch of keys from her bag and tried to open the door.
Due to how furious she was, her hands were shaking so she couldn't find the composure to open the door as the keys fell while she was attempting it.
It was such an unruly sight to behold.
She bent down and picked up the keys again to open the door, but she couldn't seem to find the right key to the door. She looked so frustrated and the expression on her face deepened with each passing second.
“Let me do it ” Jeffrey spoke from the side.
Bethany looked at him from the corners of her eyes. without saying anything else, she inserted the keys again. This time, the door was unlocked.
“I don't need to take a hand from you” Bethany snorted before sliding the door open and walking into the living room. While Jeffrey walked in soon after as well.
Bethany hurried over to the kitchen to drop the grocery in her bag without saying anything to Jeffrey, who had already found a seat for himself.
She had asked Zayn to pass through the market earlier but he took her to a supermarket instead and he helped her to shop for the food items.
“What the hell do you think you are doing here, Jeffrey? Do you have any intention of ruining my hard invested efforts? Didn't I ask you to stay away from me until the time is right? Why didn't you listen to me at all?” Bethany asked with her hands resting on her hips as she stood right opposite Jeffrey, who had already stood up from his seat at the appearance of Bethany.
She asked several questions without giving Jeffrey a single chance to defend himself.–The expression on her face darkened as she asked these questions.
“Benny, what are you saying? Why would I want to ruin things for you? I had no such intentions nor do I have any reasons to throw you under the bus. It's been so long since we last saw that's why I came here to visit you. Moreover, it's your second birthday today, I wanted to give you a surprise as I said. I..........”
“Enough! Enough about my second birthday and all of those ludicrous things you keep spewing Jeffrey, I don't want to have anything to do with my past nor the day I lost my will to live” She looked at him with brewing anger in her eyes as she turned back before saying.“I want to leave all this behind me and focus on the things that matter, Jeffrey”.
Jeffrey didn't expect that she would react this way. Even though he was aware of all that happened, he thought she would at least be happy to have him around.
“Benny, it's the day that your entire life changed and your identity switched. I was with you all through then, so I thought I should be with you today as well. I didn't know.......”
