After coming out of the hall, Danica has been looking for Zayn finally heaved a sigh.
“Zayn? why are you here? The woman.....”
Without saying a word. Zayn ignored Danica as he headed home straight.
Danica felt very miserable when she was left behind like this. So, she stormed out of the place with her long gown cupped into her hands as she looked around dejectedly.
Soon after, her eyes fell on a car parked a few distances away from the hotel.
She tottered over in anger.
“Why did it take you so long to come to fetch me? Are you tired of your choice already?” Danica tried to vent her anger on the driver.
“I'm so sorry miss Danica, it's just that the traffic was a bit jam-packed ”
Without saying any more words, she got into the car as her expression remained clouded with anger.
“Who is this lady, who dares to berate and humiliate me in front of others like this? I need to see the face behind that ugly veil” Danica thought as she clenched her fists.
On the way, Danica contacted her most trusted aide, Kelvin Davis, “Investigate a woman named Alvira Duncan for me. I need the information first thing in the morning ”.
Danica made a call to someone.
After dropping the call, she decided to calm down for a bit. However, the more she thought of calming down, the angrier she gets.
Later minutes later,
As soon as the car stopped in the parking lot, she got down from the car and hurried into the house in anger.
She was so angry that she didn't pay attention to where she was going, so she ended up slamming into someone.
“Are you blind? Can't you walk properly? ” She yelled at the maid.
The maid was carrying a glass of juice on the serving tray. Due to this collision, the drink ended up spilling on her, soaking her expensive gown.
Looking at the immeasurable stain on her dress, Danica was moved to anger and she raised her hand and landed a slap on the maid's face.
The maid who hadn't expected something like this was thrown into a state of shock as the empty glass on the tray fell to the ground, shattering into many pieces of shards.
Hot tears stream down the face of the young maid. Knowing that she was not at all responsible for all that has happened, she pursed her lips amid tears to yell out her grievances.
“Miss Danica, you were the one who wasn't paying attention to where you were going,” The maid said in a soft voice.
“What did you just say? Are you rebuking me right under my roof? What do you think of yourself, raising your lousy voice at me? I'll teach you a lesson for this”.
Danica was so pissed that the maid had responded to her in such a manner.
“I think of myself as a human being. But I don't think I should talk about humanity with you at all since you are nothing but a bag of two-faced, gullible, and faceless humans. ” The maid retaliated.
“How dare you......” Danica asked in gritted teeth as her teeth flashed against each other bitterly.“How dare you speak to me in such a tone. I'll teach you some manners”
With that, she raised her hand to slap the maid once again. However, before her hand could land on her face, someone caught her hand and it was her left hand in the air.
Danica crushed her face as she looked at her hand hanging in the air after it was caught by someone. When she got a grip over herself, she noticed that the maid was the only one holding her hand, stopping her from hurting her.
Danica was stunned.
Since when did the maids in the mansion grow so many balls to dare and stop her like this.
They have always silently ensured her taunts in the past and never dared to raise a voice. But today, a maid stopped her from raising her hand to her.
Dazed by this matter, Danica felt like she has been ripped off all of her remaining honor.
“I won't allow you to stay here any longer in my house. a mere and mannerless person doesn't deserve to work in my house. Get out at once! Get out!” Danica yelled as she yanked her hand away from the maid's grip.
The looked at her with a pensive expression before she parted her like to say in a moving voice.“ You don't have to tell me that, I know my way out of this hell hole called a house. It's not like I wanted to continue enduring your release of torture in the first place, I'm tired of being knocked down each day by you. So, I'm leaving right now you even before the thought of it!”
“Go on and leave in the next thirty minutes, otherwise I'll call the cops on you. You penniless moron” Danica threatened as she made to leave after the maid left for her quarters to get her stuff.
“Tsk! tsk! tsk! what a dramatic view that was”
Danica suddenly heard a voice from the stairs as she took a step forward.
Immediately, she knew who it was. She can never make a mistake when it comes to identifying that voice.
She stopped in her tracks as soon as she heard the voice. Then, she turned around slowly to face her.
“As I've always said, you can't simply hide your dark character by wearing heavy makeup and jewelry. The truth will always find it's a way of the beauty techniques, you can't change, can you? Do you have to vent your anger on the innocent maid because you lost such a good deal? It wasn't even her fault that you did. I'm wondering why you didn't use the same energy on the winner though. Can you maybe tell me the reason?” Matilda asked as she took a sip from her cup of tea while glaring at Danica through the corners of her eyes.
Danica was already pissed from everything that happened all through the day.
That woman came from nowhere and stole the spotlight away from her as well as the luxurious shop from her. Not only that but she was humiliated in front of others.
She also got into a fight with a low-life maid.
“Do you have to keep a tab on everything, Aunt? Why don't you mind your business? I don't want to talk, not today please ”. Danica said as she turned around to leave once again.
“I'm sure you wouldn't want to say anything. After all, you don't have enough time in your hands to concort your next line of action. Dont you worry, I also have some other important matters to take off ” Matilda said as she dropped the cup of tea on the table nearby. Then she tottered past Danica, locking shoulders with her heavily.
Just then, the maid came down carrying her bags and luggage. She has already changed from her uniform.
As soon as she stepped into the living room, Matilda walked up to her and handed over an envelope to her before saying, “I'm sorry that you have to leave us like this. If I had the authority, then I would have had someone else thrown out in your place. You have my number already, just give me a call when you need help with something” Matilda urged with a smile on her face as she turned back to look at Danica ferociously.
“Ma'am Matilda, I really can't accept this from you. You've done enough for me already, I can't ask you for any more help” Vella tried to decline as she kept pushing the envelope into Matilda's hands.
“I haven't done anything great. You've always been a great person, and I'm glad to be of help to you. You should leave now, it's getting very late” Matilda said as she quickly hugged Vella into her hands.
Matilda has gotten used to having Vella around since she started working at the mansion about a year and a half ago. She was a great hard-working working humble girl. However, Danica always finds faults with everything, so Vella didn't have a smooth stay in the manor.
“Maybe I should go drop you off at a safe house. Don't you agree with me?” Matilda asked as she went over to the table to pick the car keys.
“Maam, you shouldn't worry about me, I'll my way through the thickness and shadows of the night. It's too much of a trouble”.
“It's fine, I'll take you”
After saying that, Matilda took a few steps toward the four. Just as she has taken two steps, she heard sarcastic laughter from behind then she stopped moving.
With her face still turn to the back, she heard Danica speak in contempt.
“I see beggars are becoming bolder these days.” Danica said in a mocking tone as she tottered over to stand right behind Matilda.“Do you dare to think that you can take decisions like this on your own without my permission? I think you are becoming overly imaginative, aren't you aunt Matilda? But sorry to burst your bubbles, you aren't going to fly higher than your shadows become I'm clipping your wings” As she said that, she took the car keys away from Matilda in a swift movement even before Matilda had the time to struggle or even fight back.
“You can go drop her at home now. But you can only do it without using my car. After all, you are a super magical woman without magical powers” Danica taunted as she looked at Matilda arrogantly.
“I know you are a vicious witch, Danica, but this is too much for anyone to bear How can you expect her to walk around looking for a way out of here in the middle of the night like this? Danica please, just hand over the car keys right now. I'll return them after dropping her off” Matilda quickly change her tone and tried to plead in a calm voice.
“Oh look who's begging! I won't change my mind about this. You can walk her home if you'd like to ” Danica replied in a firm tone as she turn her back.
“Ma'am, don't worry, I can go home on my own. We shouldn't expect any sympathy from an emotionless woman like her. I'll go now, thank you for your help”.
“Alright, let me see you off”
Matilda left Danica alone and took off to go escort Vella to the park.
“I can go back home on my home from here on, miss Matilda, I don't want to trouble you this late. Please, go back inside and take a rest” Vella Said as she urges Matilda to return to the mansion
“What are you saying, Vella? I can't leave you alone so late at night, let me accompany you to the next hotel and get you settled in a room first”
“That won't be necessary, miss Matilda, I'll find my way out of here. Thank you for everything you've done. Please go back inside now, and ill back on my own”
“Are you sure about this? ”
“Sure, I'm very sure. Please go back inside”
Vella urged. Then, matilda hesitated for a while before she turned back and went inside.
Vella looked back and watched as Matilda's silhouette disappeared into the house.
Then, a smirk curled up on her tiny pink lips as a look is smug suddenly crept onto her face.
“I'm waiting outside. I have the video with me as well”
