That night after dinner, Bethany sat by the window in the mansion. She was working on her draft with her lap in front of her.
She picked up Zayn's card and took a quick look at it. Then, she scoffed before throwing it to the side.
“Zayn, I'm very sure you'd never think that I'll still be alive and kicking, right? Your bads I'm still here”.
“Miss Burnett, miss Burnett! Have a look at this, it's that annoying and vicious woman! ” The little girl waddled over to Bethany and handed the phone over to her.
Bethany lowered her head to take a look at the content on the screen. She noticed that it was a video of her and Danica back at the KFC. Someone had captured this scene and uploaded the video online.
Zayn was a very well-known person in Orange city, so it was only natural that everyone wouldbeiinterestedn whatever happened between him and Danica.
Now, Danica's refusal to apologize after she ran into someone in KFC and her arrogant attitude right after she was being witnessed by everyone. Almost everyone was criticizing Danica. They said that she was the daughter of a reputable family and even a public figure for that matter, who did not have any manners at all.
On the contrary, a lot of people were praising Bethany. They had concluded that she had a good attitude. Plus, they even said that she had the demeanor of young ladies from a decent family should have. A lot of them were also trying to second guess what she looked like under the disguise.
She shut her laptop and looked at the lights outside of the room through the windows. She smirked as she stood up from the couch.
“Danica, this is just the start!”.
“Miss Burnett, why is that woman always so angry with everyone?”
Jenna suddenly asked out of the blues.“Jordan told me that she always scolded him at home”
Hearing this, Bethany turned her face to look at Jenna, who was staring at her with curiosity written all over her young, innocent face.
Bethany was stunned.
She never thought that Danica would be vicious towards her child as well. She didn't want Jenna to have any bad ideas about her, so she decided to cover up for her.
“What are you thinking about, Jenna? You know it's not right to say such things about another person without getting the full story, right? That woman must have been going through so much, that must be why she was upset”. Bethany tried to cajole the little girl into getting rid of her ill thoughts about the woman. She had no intention of dragging the little girl into this mess.
Jenna scoffed upon listening to Bethany's explanation. However, she wasn't convinced by her reasons.
She pursed her little lips before saying, “I don't believe that reason, Miss Burnett, you're always so fussy and hardly out on a smile, but you've never scolded me as she does to Jordan”.
“That's right as well, Jenna, everyone has a way of relieving themselves of their pains. Maybe that her way of doing it, so let not prey into her life” Bethany said in a gentle as she squatted in front of Jenna.
Just then, a glimmer of idea flashed into her mind as she looked as if she has just recalled something.
“And why are you still awake by this time? It's bedtime already. ” Bethany said as she stood up immediately.
“But I'm not sleepy yet, Miss Burnett, don't make me go to bed now”
“ Your godmother will take you to a school tomorrow, so you have to sleep early ”.
“Really?”
“Of course, you'll be going to a new school tomorrow, I found you a good school ”.
Just as they were still talking, Erica pushed the door open and came into the room along with Grace.
“Prepare her for bed” Erica ordered, looking at Jenna.
Grace took Jenna out of the room. Both Bethany and Erica watched until Grace disappeared out of sight with Jenna.
Erica took her gaze back to Bethany before asking in a hushed tone, “Where did you get her? She won't rat us...... ”.
“Why are you suddenly interested in knowing who she is?”
“Well.... it's just that she looks so firm and unwilling ”.
“She's a person I met somewhere. She's trusted”.
“What's the next plan, Bethany? Danica will not keep quiet about what you did to her at the KFC. She'll look for you in the whole city”.
“I already know that, but she will be too busy trying to save herself rather than go after me now,” Bethany said with a firm tone. She looked like she was very certain of what she was saying.
“That's okay, you should go to bed now. I have an appointment with her at the Deluxe company in two days”
“She must be expectant. Silly her!”.
“Yea she is ! and this is our chance to make her do things our way”.
You're becoming very smart. I think I like the new you. What happened to you in the Maldives? ” Bethany teased with a cold, stony expression.
“Stop pulling my legs, alright”.
Meanwhile, at this moment in the Meyer mansion.
Zayn sat close to the bed lazily. He was holding his phone while watching a video, which was going viral on the internet.
In the video, Danica's menacing attitude made her lose her good reputation once more. All of a sudden, he was starting to wonder if she was the same little girl that he had met back then when he was younger.
He did not think much of it, but his eyes landed on the photo of the woman, who had fought with Danica at the KFC.
Seeing this, his heart started beating faster.
However, despite looking similar, it was still a fact that he had failed to protect her.
As Zayn pondered, Giselle's sweet voice appeared in his mind. His heart started aching heavily once more...
Giselle......
“Zayn, are you asleep already?” Someone knocked on the door, and in the next moment, Danica's voice came from the outside.“Zayn, you saw the video, right? I'm being maliciously criticized for doing nothing wrong at all. Can you comfort and keep me company? Also, you promised to get me the fashion store in the new plaza, it will be up for auction soon. You promised to get it for me as a birthday present ”
Her sweet, gentle voice sounded from outside of the door as she awaited a reply from Zayn.
However, after a while, Zayn's mother, Lady Cecilia pulled her away quickly and lectured her instead.
“You know that Zayn hasn't been coming over to the manor for many years. Don't disturb him now that he has finally decided to come over at my behest”.
Danica was already feeling miserable, and now she felt worse.“I do know that mom, but I thought Zayn has returned to se once before ”.
“That's not a reason to disturb him!” Even though Zayn's mother was very fond of Danica, her son was more important.
Danica clenched her fists as the fire of rage burned through her chest. However, she could not release her anger as she only gritted her teeth tightly.
When coming over here earlier, she thought that she would be able to convince Zayn to do her bidding but she didn't expect that he would refuse to even talk to her. All of her efforts had gone down the drain.
Not only, does she feel alone since lady Cecilia, who had insisted she came back to the Mansion along with Jordan seems to have abandoned her at the rough edge?
“I don't have to remind you to not disturb Zayn when he's sleeping, otherwise every one of us will get injured by the broth of his anger. There's some progress and here you are making a fuss over nothing. Moreover, I got some drugs from that rising star for him”.
When Danica heard this, she was even more pissed.
Danica had evil thoughts in her head. It has been so many years and she used all kinds of ways to get Zayn to sleep with her but they all failed. It was time, she invested her energy in something like this.
If she got pregnant 'again 'then it would only be expected that Zayn would marry her without a doubt.
Danica has made up her mind and has already chosen a time. After the auction, she would use the same drug to take down Zayn.
At the same time, Bethany took a sip from her cup of coffee slowly. Then she looked at the huge share of the company that Danica has just proposed to her in an attempt to sell it off. She lifted the mirror and looked at her reflection as a smirk soon appeared on her lips.
“Poor thing! She's in for a big deal”.
She put down the mirror and turned her elegant body. Then, she walked into the bathroom to get changed.
It was already too late now, and she would have to wake up early to leave the house before it was dawn.
She went back and sat down before taking a look at the screen of her laptop.
on the screen, she received a message from Janette , she was Danica's assistant.
The message reads,“ My boss is currently interested in making you the owner of the few shares of the company until she finally get back her on her feet. This will only be available for purchase for a few months , after that she will back the money and get back the shares. Is that alright with you? Mr. Duncan?”
Bethany smiled when she finished reading the entire message. she found the message very funny as she did understand why a person as smart and cunning as Danica would think of a thing like this.
“Thats alright with me, After all I have so much companies to deal with, why would I be interested in a petty share like yours? Don't you worry, I will keep them safe for you until you want to have them back”.
She sent a reply back to her before picking up her mug of coffee once again.
“You have finally created a doom of life for yourselves. silly hawks!”.
