The banquet of tonight was a combination of the public warfare donation and also a birthday party for Mr. Downey. Although, not many people knew about his birthday. However, Bethany has made her research, so she was one of the few people that knew this.
“Thank you, Miss Burnett. You shouldn't have taken up the troubles. Coming over to see me in such a short time was a bigger gift”.
He replied while taking the gift from her. Immediately, he began to unwrap the package of the gift right in front of her.
After unwrapping the gift, he had a smile on his face.
“How did you come to know that I love this art piece so much? Are you a magician?”.
He asked with his eyes glistening with joy.
“You might as well say so”.
Erica replied.
“Zayn, I can't help you with the matter you said before as I'm no longer agile to do such works at my age”.
After pitting down the gifts, he looked up at Zayn, who was sitting aside silently.
They have been discussing a certain issue earlier, but have to leave it incomplete because of the commotion that happened earlier at the hall.
The truth is that Zayn has emerged as the biggest donor at the public welfare donation tonight. how he didn't have any intention of getting himself involved in the upcoming project of the Downey family. Instead, he requested that Mr. Downey becomes the chief fashion designer, in charge of the new project that the Meyer family has just embarked on.
The company had just launched a new project known as 'Oceania'.
However, Zayn was very strict and lucky with the kinds of people that handles his work as he always wanted the best from them. So, he could only think of two people, who are capable of meeting his expectation; One of them was Mr. Downey, but now that he that has rejected his offer, he was left with only one other person–Miss Burnett.
Miss Burnett, who stays abroad is not someone that was easily accessible to all as she was strict with her work rules.
Zayn has never seen or met this Miss Burnett before, but he has heard a lot about her, but since meeting her is a big hurdle he decided to quit the thoughts.
Suddenly, Mr. Downey spoke up after contemplating for a while.“ How about this young woman here? She's young, thoughtful and what's more, she's energetic. Not only that, I heard she was an apprentice of Miss Burnett ”.
Mr. Downey said after locking eyes with Erica, who asked him not to reveal anything to him.
Immediately, Zayn saw that the old man was pointing toward Bethany, he instantly became alarmed as he knitted his brows in confusion.
His eyes were cold. He has indeed met her thrice now, however, it doesn't mean that he would leave such a huge project in the hands of just anyone–Any random person.
“You can let her go to your company and work for at least a month. During this time, you can observe her capabilities. If you feel that she's not capable of handling the work, then I'll personally ask her master to work for you, even though it's impossible to meet her”.
Mr. Downey said with so much confidence that even Zayn was forced to consider it.
Zayn couldn't help but force his interest to be piqued.
However, Bethany was smiling inwardly as her plans were finally falling into place.
“Okay, I'll give it a try then”
Zayn agreed readily.
His expression was still as dark as earlier.
Both Erica and Bethany were shocked when he agreed to this plan without going back and forth as expected of him.
wasn't he looking for an expert and a perfectionist? And he just agreed to work with me without creating a ruckus? It seems like he's digging his own grave with his own two hands. isn't that great?
While she was lost in thought, Zayn stood up from his seat, “Come around to the office tomorrow and let's get to work as soon as possible” He took out his stamped business car and handed it over to him.
Bethany shyly took it, however, he turned around and stride out before she could say a word or even tried to reject the offer.
“Mr. Downey. You didn't have you do that?”.
“This is your chance, and now I don't want you to have reasons to doubt your opportunities in the future”.
After he said these words, Bethany quickly understood what he meant. Then she nodded understandingly before keeping the card in her purse.
Back at home abroad, she was a famous designer with a lot of awards and credits to her name. However, if she wanted to get close to the people, she had come in a different form and stuck them by surprise
She wanted to make them believe that Erica was Bethany Burnett, while she, on the other hand, was Erica Quest. With Danica busy running after Erica, she would get the chance she's been waiting for.
Intruding their lives!
When the women left the banquet hall, it was already very late at night. Due to that, they were tired from all the stress, so they drove home in silence since Bethany had warned that she was not to be disturbed.
As soon as they got back to the condominium, Erica couldn't wait to offload all of her excitement after the event of the night.
Without waiting for her to start, Bethany gently pushed the door to the little girl's bedroom to check on her, she saw the little girl sleeping soundly with her arms circling her husky toy.
She looked pure and innocent–This scene always trigger Bethany to smile.
When she was done, she silently slammed the door locked. As she turned back, she saw Erica waiting for her with a curious gaze.
“Wait! Did I Miss Something interesting, Bethany? Why did you allow that which to get away after trying to frame you in front of everyone at the banquet? What do you think, would have happened if I didn't see her putting the necklace in your purse earlier, you would have been screwed up big time”.
Erica yelled out without taking a minute to catch a breath as she continued to talk nonstop.
Bethany turned around with her arm circled her chest.“The goal is not to prove her wrong in front of others just yet, why should we be in a hurry when we can enjoy the show at a better place and time? It won't be any fun rushing up a tasty meal, would it?”.
