Chapter 101: A Deadly Twist.

Leonardo’s POV
I woke up the next morning it was the day my life would finally become mine.
For so long, I had lived to make my father, Alpha John, proud. I had sacrificed my own happiness, unable to be with the woman I loved. But that ended today.
With the evidence I had gathered, there was no way my father wouldn’t put an end to whatever alliance he wanted with Alpha Maverick and Lena.
I would be free. Free to be with Aurora.
I had missed her so much, and now, I wanted to take her back from my brother, Alessandro.
I sat up in bed, exhaling slowly. Today was my wedding day… with the most evil woman I had ever met.
Lena.
I ran a hand down my face, trying to shake off the heavy feeling in my chest.
Today was going to be long and exhausting, but by the end of it, Lena would be exposed, and I would finally be free.
I got out of bed and walked to the window, looking out at the pack grounds.
The wedding preparations were already in full swing. Pack members were busy setting up, unaware of the storm that was about to hit.
A knock on my door pulled me from my thoughts.
"Come in," I said, already knowing who it was.
Alessandro stepped inside, his face serious.
"Everything is in place," he said. "Rafael is keeping an eye on Damian, and once the ceremony starts, we'll make our move."
I nodded. "Good. We can’t afford any mistakes. We have to make sure Father sees the truth with his own eyes."
Alessandro leaned against the doorframe, watching me.
"Are you ready for this?"
I let out a dry chuckle. "Ready to ruin my own wedding? Absolutely."
Alessandro smirked. "You say that like it’s a bad thing."
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "No, it’s not. But I still have to stand there and pretend to go through with it until the right moment.
And Lena… she won’t go down without a fight."
Alessandro’s face darkened. "She won’t have a choice. Once Father hears what she’s done, there’s no way he’ll let this wedding happen."
I clenched my fists. "She deserves worse for what she did to Damian.
And who knows how many others she's hurt."
Alessandro nodded. "We’ll make sure she never gets the chance again."
I took a deep breath, steadying myself. "Then let’s get this over with."
****
While wearing my suit, I looked at the mirror and noticed Alessandro was texting someone, a small smile playing on his lips.
I raised an eyebrow. It wasn’t often that he looked this… calm, especially on a day like this.
“Um… who are you texting that you look so… calm?” I asked, turning to him, trying to find out what he was up to.
Alessandro looked at me, his face difficult to read, but the hint of a smirk still stayed.
“No one important.”
I furrowed my eyes. “Really? Because that smile says otherwise.”
He locked his phone and slipped it into his pocket.
“Shouldn’t you be focusing on your big day instead of worrying about who I’m texting?”
I scoffed. “My ‘big day’ is about to be a disaster for someone, and we both know it’s not me.”
Alessandro chuckled. “Fair point.”
I eyed him for another moment, but he didn’t offer any more information.
Whatever or whoever he was texting had him in a surprisingly good mood.
And considering everything that was about to go down today, that was suspicious.
I just hoped it wasn’t who I was thinking he was texting.
The thought made my jaw tighten. I knew Alessandro wasn’t the type to talk much, but his silence right now felt calculated like he was hiding something.
And I had a pretty good idea of what, or rather who, it was.
Aurora.
The possibility gnawed at me, but I pushed it aside. Today was too important to get distracted by that.
Besides, once this wedding was called off, Aurora and I could finally be together again.
I turned back to the mirror, adjusting my tie.
“Anyway, we should get going. The sooner this wedding starts, the sooner it ends.”
Alessandro gave a small nod, but I caught the way his fingers twitched like he was tempted to check his phone again.
I exhaled sharply, forcing myself to ignore it.
Let him text her. Let him enjoy whatever little moment he thought he had with her.
Because after today, Aurora would be mine again.
Just then I heard a knock on my door and then Gabriel walked in and closed it immediately, his face showed that something was wrong.

“Guys something happened last night.”

We looked at him with a confused expression. “What happened?”

Gabriel sighed and then spoke. “While you guys were out and all, Marcus cell was attacked and Marcus is dead. He was killed last night.”
A heavy silence filled the room.
Marcus… dead?
I exchanged a sharp look with Alessandro, whose face immediately darkened.
Gabriel ran a hand through his hair, his jaw tight.
“Whoever did it knew what they were doing. There were no signs of struggle, no noises reported from the guards.
Just… a clean kill.”
Alessandro cursed under his breath, standing up.
“Damn it. This can’t be a coincidence.”
“No,” I agreed, my mind racing.
“Lena must have known we were closing in.
She’s tying up loose ends.”
Gabriel nodded.
“That’s what I think too. And if she’s willing to go this far, she might have other plans for today.”
I clenched my fists. This was supposed to be the day I took back control of my life, but now things were getting even more dangerous.
Alessandro’s gaze was sharp when he looked at me.
“We need to be careful. If Lena’s behind this, she won’t stop at Marcus.”
I exhaled slowly, trying to keep my anger in check.
This wedding was about to become more than just a breaking point it was about to turn into a battlefield.
“Gabriel, I need you to call, Rafael and find out if everything is okay with him and if Damian is in safe hands.” Alessandro said.
“She may have suspected that we were closing in on her and decided to destroy all the evidence that we could use against her to stop this wedding.”
I nodded. “And you know, Damian had revealed to us that Lena is not working alone….so I think whoever she’s working with was behind Marcus death.”
Gabriel gave a sharp nod and immediately pulled out his phone to call Rafael.
Alessandro crossed his arms, his expression hard.
“If Lena’s partner is powerful enough to slip past security and kill Marcus without a trace, then we’re dealing with someone just as dangerous as her maybe even worse.”
I exhaled, my mind racing. “And if they know about Marcus, then they might already be after Damian too.”
Gabriel lowered his phone slightly, his brows furrowed. “Rafael’s not picking up.”
A tense silence filled the room.
Alessandro cursed. “Damn it.”
I grabbed my suit jacket and headed toward the door.
“We need to find Rafael and make sure Damian is still safe. If Lena’s planning something today, we need to be ahead of her.”
Alessandro suddenly blocked me.
“No.”
I furrowed my brow in annoyance. “What the hell, Alessandro?”
“Listen to me, Leonardo. If you don’t show up at the wedding, Lena will be even more sure that you’re onto her, and that could make things more… complicated.”
I clenched my fists. I knew he was right, but the thought of just standing there and pretending made my skin crawl.
“You focus on the wedding and try to act natural,” Alessandro continued.
“Gabriel and I will go find Rafael and Damian. We’ll meet you at the hall before it starts.”
My body tensed. This was my one shot at freedom, and that witch was trying to ruin everything.
Alessandro placed a firm hand on my shoulder.
“Don’t worry about it, Leonardo. We’ll find him and bring him. You just do your part, and we’ll do ours, okay?”
I clenched my jaw, frustration boiling inside me. Every instinct screamed at me to go after Rafael and Damian myself, to make sure everything was under control.
But Alessandro was right.
If I didn’t show up at the wedding, Lena would know for sure that something was wrong.
And if she got suspicious, she might act before we were ready.
I let out a sharp breath and nodded. “Fine. But don’t take too long. The wedding starts soon.”
Gabriel smirked. “Relax, we got this.”
Alessandro patted my shoulder once before turning to Gabriel.
“Let’s go.”
As they rushed out, I ran a hand through my hair, trying to calm the storm inside me.
Today was supposed to be the day I finally broke free from Lena. But now, it felt like everything was hanging by a thread.
I had to play my part. I had to act like nothing was wrong.
Even if inside, I was ready for war.
After they left, I got dressed and was about to walk out of my room when I thought of Aurora.
I should check up on her.
I decided to call her phone, but it kept ringing with no answer.
A bad feeling settled in my gut.
I quickly stepped out and spotted one of the pack security guards nearby.
“Hey, I need you to check on Miss Aurora’s room or look around for her.
Report back to me ASAP.”
He nodded without hesitation and hurried off to carry out my order.
I walked back and forth in the hallway, feeling anxious. Something felt off.
Aurora always answered her calls, even if she didn’t want to. And besides, she was texting Alessandro today.
If she was talking to him, then why wasn’t she answering me now?
My jaw tightened as I pulled out my phone again and dialed her number.
Still no answer.
I clenched my fists.
Something was wrong.
Finally, the guard came back, looking unsure.

"Sir, I couldn't find Miss Aurora in her room," he said.

"I asked around, but nobody has seen her since this morning." My heart sank.

"What?

She's gone?"

The guard nodded hesitantly.

I ran my hands through my hair, frustrated. This wasn't a coincidence.

Aurora wouldn't just disappear, not today. And then a scary thought hit me.

What if Lena was involved?
