Chapter 191: The Day I'm Yours

Leonardo’s POV

I was halfway to the dining hall when one of the guards stepped into my path.

"He needs you in his office," he stated, voice sharp.

I made a face. "Now?"

"Yes, sir. Right now."

A tight twist grew in my stomach. I spun around and made for the west side. The air got thicker as I walked.

When I got to the room, the first one I saw was him Alpha Maverick sitting like he owned the place. That sure, sly grin played on his face.

My jaw locked. Why is he here?

This man and his daughter let blood flow to take control.

And here he was, in my dad's seat, as if it was just a normal talk.

Alpha John, looked up. "Leonardo, take a seat."

I stayed put. "I'll stand. Just say what you need."

He let out a breath, hands clasped on the desk.

"This isn’t what I hoped, but we've got no choice. You'll mate with Lena."

I froze. "What?"

"She's carrying your child," he said, calm but firm.

Shock hit me.

"I—Dad, no. I won't marry Lena. I'm not set for that—"

“Enough,” he snapped, cutting me off. He turned to Maverick.

“If you’ll give us a moment.”

Alpha Maverick rose with deliberate slowness, clearly savoring the moment. As he passed, he clapped me on the shoulder like we were old friends.

“Congratulations, son,” he murmured.

I resisted the urge to break his hand.

The door clicked shut behind him, and I turned to face my father.

“You can’t seriously be considering this. After everything that man has done to this pack, after everything she’s done you want me to marry her?

To tie our blood to his?”

Alpha John didn’t respond. He just stared at me with that same unreadable expression that had driven me crazy since I was a boy.

“Father,” I pressed, “I won’t sit here and let you dictate who I marry. I won’t be forced into—”

His palm slammed against the desk, rattling the inkwell and ledger books.

“Enough!

This alliance wouldn’t be necessary if you hadn’t gotten her pregnant in the first place!”

The words hit me like a punch. I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out just the beginnings of a stammer.

He didn’t give me the chance. “My decision is final. You will do as I say.”

I gritted my teeth, every muscle in my body screaming to fight him on this.

“Now,” he said, turning back to his paperwork as if the conversation were over, “join your brothers in the dining hall.”

I stood there for a moment, my pulse pounding in my ears, before I finally turned and walked out. Every step toward that table felt heavier than the last.

****

By the time I reached the dining hall, my jaw ached from clenching it. My father’s words still rang in my head, pounding alongside my pulse.

I shoved open the double doors, searching the room. My brothers were at the table, Annie sitting beside Rafael, Aurora across from him and sitting beside Alessandro and then her.

Lena.

Of course.

Her smirk was wide and poisonous as she stood over Annie, hand drawn back mid-swing.

In that instant, all the restraint I’d fought for in my father’s office snapped.

I crossed the distance in three strides, catching her wrist before she could touch Annie.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” My voice was low, but the edge was sharp enough to cut.

She spun toward me, startled. “Leonardo, she—”

“Shut up.” I didn’t give her a chance to finish. My grip tightened, and I yanked her away from the table. Chairs scraped, conversations froze.

“Leonardo!” she gasped, trying to dig her heels into the carpet.

“Let me go!”

“Gladly,” I muttered, dragging her toward the door.

“Right after I get you out of here.”

The air in the hall was tense, everyone watching. She stumbled once, twice, but I didn’t slow until the doors slammed shut behind us.

****

When we were a bit far from the dining hall, I released her wrist just hard enough that she stumbled back.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” I snapped.

She straightened, smoothing her hair like she hadn’t just been seconds away from hitting a guest.

“She disrespected me—”

“She’s human,” I cut in, my voice a growl.

“And she’s a guest in this house. You don’t lay a hand on her. Ever.”

Her lips curled into that condescending little smile I hated.

“You’re awfully protective of her. Should I be jealous?”

“This isn’t about jealousy. It’s about you acting like you own every room you walk into.”

She took a step closer, lowering her voice like she was letting me in on some secret.

“Soon, I will own it. After all… I’m carrying your child, Leonardo. You think your father’s going to let you treat me like this when I’m about to give him his heir?”

My jaw tightened. “Don’t you dare use that as leverage.”

“I don’t need to,” she said sweetly. “Your father already made it clear to me this morning, we’re going to be mated. It’s inevitable.

So you can drag me around and bark at me all you want, but at the end of the day…” Her gaze dipped deliberately to my mouth before meeting my eyes again.

“…you’ll be mine.”

I stared at her for a long moment, letting the silence stretch, then leaned in just enough that my words were for her alone.

“The day I’m yours will be the day I stop breathing.”

Her smile faltered, just slightly.

I stepped back, pulling the door to the sitting room open.

“Now get out of my sight before I forget my father’s orders.”

She brushed past me, her perfume clinging to the air long after she was gone.

I stayed there a moment longer, trying to unclench my fists, before heading back into the dining hall.

****

I walked back in, and every head in the room turned toward me.

Lena’s absence left a charged silence hanging over the table. Aurora's gaze found mine wide-eyed, cautious but she didn’t speak.

I forced myself to move, each step controlled, even though the heat still burned under my skin. My brothers said nothing, their eyes tracking me like they could smell the storm rolling off me.

I took the empty seat beside Gabriel, my shoulders rigid, my jaw set. No one dared break the quiet except for the faint clink of cutlery.

I didn’t look at either of them. If I did, the questions in their eyes might push me over the edge again.

And then, from the far end of the table, a voice I hadn’t heard in years cut through the silence.

“Well… looks like I came back at the perfect time.”

Every muscle in my body went still.

“Tamara?"
