Chapter 162: Rescue Mission

Alessandro’s POV
“Alessandro, could you just calm down and stop pacing up and down?” Rafael said, his tone sharp with frustration as he watched me wear a path across the floor.
I let out a heavy sigh, running a hand through my hair.
“I don’t know… I just have a bad feeling about trusting Leonardo.”
Rafael leaned back against the wall, arms crossed. “Come on, Alessandro.
Leonardo wouldn’t do anything to betray Aurora. You know he loves her.”
I stopped in my tracks and turned to face him, my eyes furrowing.
“Love?
Rafael, you think this is about love?”
Rafael shrugged. “I know he’s done terrible things, but he’s trying to make it right now.”
“Trying?” I snapped.
“He lied to all of us.
He worked with our uncle, helped him kidnapped Aurora to get me to quit the competition and now we’re supposed to believe he suddenly grew a conscience?”
Rafael was quiet for a moment, then said, more gently,
“Well, he has realized his mistakes and so he wants to help us find her before its too late.”
“That doesn’t erase everything,” I muttered, pacing again.
Rafael stood straighter, his voice firm.
“Maybe not. But we need him. If he doesn’t help us, we won’t be able to find Aurora on time and we don’t know what our Uncle Raymond would do to her.”
I balled my fists. Deep down, I knew Rafael had a point. But the thought of Leonardo being anywhere near Aurora touching her, talking to her like she belonged to him it made my blood boil.
“I don’t trust him,” I said through gritted teeth.
“Not with her. Not with anything.”
Just then, my phone buzzed in my pocket. The sound cut through the silence like a blade.
I stopped pacing, pulling it out of my pocket.
Rafael raised an eyebrow. “Who is it?”
I looked down at the screen. A message From Leonardo.
My brows furrowed as I read it aloud. “I’m being taken to Raymond. This might be it. If I see Aurora, I’ll send the signal. Start tracking my phone now.”
Rafael stepped closer, frowning. “He wants us to track him?”
I nodded slowly, already tapping on the message to start tracing it.
“Either he’s walking into a trap… or he’s setting one.”
The room went quiet again, the only sound the soft tapping on my screen as I worked.
Rafael crossed his arms. “What do you think?
Is it legit?”
I looked up at him, eyes cold with suspicion.
“We’ll know soon enough.”
My fingers moved quickly over the screen as I began tracing Leonardo’s phone.
The signal was bouncing, shifting… moving fast.
A few tense seconds passed before the location popped up on the screen.
“He’s on the move,” I muttered.
Gabriel stepped closer, peering over my shoulder.
“Have you found anything?”
I nodded. “Yeah. He’s heading somewhere deep into the forest. The speed of the signal shift… he’s in a car.”
Rafael frowned. “Why the forest? What the hell is out there?”
I didn’t answer right away. My eyes were fixed on the blinking dot, watching it inch closer to the heart of the woods.
“That’s what we’re about to find out,” I said grimly, grabbing my jacket.
“Gather some other beta warriors and Let’s go.”
****
When we got to the place, the forest became strangely quiet. Ahead of us, hidden behind trees and vines, was an old, abandoned building and something was inside.
Rogue wolves.
They were everywhere patrolling the entrance, stationed on the rooftop, guarding every corner like shadows in the dark.
We dropped low behind the thick bushes, careful not to make a sound.
“This is it,” I whispered.
“The signal ends here. He’s inside.”
Everyone crouched beside me, eyes locked on the building as we began to strategize.
“Alright,” I said, keeping my voice low but firm.
“Here’s the plan, we take out every single one of those rogue wolves.
Quiet.
Precise.
Then we arrest the leader and bring him back to our pack for questioning.
No one escapes.
Understood?”
"Yes!" the others whispered together.
My heart started racing as I looked back at the building.
Hang on, Aurora, I thought. We’re coming.
****
After rescuing Aurora, we moved quickly. I kept her close as we stepped out of the room, leaving Leonardo and my unconscious uncle behind.
The tension still hung in the air, but getting Aurora to safety was all that mattered now.
We were almost at the exit when Aurora suddenly stopped, her hand tugging at mine.
“Wait!” she said, her voice trembling.
“I can’t leave… Annie. I can’t just leave her behind.”
I turned to her gently, cupping her face so she’d look at me. “Don’t worry about Annie, Aurora.
Rafael and Gabriel are already on it. They’ll make sure she’s safe.”
Her eyes still held that worry, that fear for someone she cared about, but I gave her a reassuring nod.
“My priority right now is you. Getting you out of here fast and safe.”
She finally nodded, though hesitation lingered in her gaze. I held her hand tighter, leading her out of that place, away from the darkness.
****
While we were on our way back to the pack, the silence between us stretched on.
I could feel the weight of everything we’d just gone through, but Aurora was the one who finally broke it.
“So… the person who kidnapped me,” she began quietly, her voice cutting through the stillness, “and the one Leonardo has been working for… it was your uncle?”
I glanced at her, then nodded slowly as we made our way closer to the car.
“Yes,” I said, my voice low.
“He was the one who had Alpha John poisoned.
He’s been manipulating Leonardo this whole time, feeding him lies, turning him against us.
All because he wanted the throne for himself.”
Aurora looked down, her brows furrowed.
“All of this… just for power.”
I didn’t say anything. There wasn’t much else to say. We reached the car, and I opened the door for her, watching the pain and confusion still staying in her eyes.
We sat in the car, the silence now heavier than before. The engine hummed softly beneath us, but neither of us moved.
I could see Aurora staring out the window, her hand resting gently over the faint red mark on her wrist where the chain had been.
“Aurora,” I said softly, reaching over and gently taking her hand in mine.
She turned to look at me, her eyes still carrying the shadows of everything she'd been through. My chest tightened.
“I’m so sorry,” I whispered.
“For not getting to you sooner. For letting any of this happen to you.”
Her lip trembled slightly, but she didn’t pull away.
“It wasn’t your fault, Alessandro. You didn’t know.”
“I should’ve,” I said, voice thick with emotion.
“I should’ve trusted my gut, should’ve fought harder.
I can’t stop thinking about what could’ve happened if we didn’t find you in time…”
She looked at me, her gaze softening.
“But you did. You came.”
I cupped her face gently with my hand, my thumb brushing over her cheek.
“Listen to me, Aurora. I swear on everything I am I will never let anyone take you again.
I don’t care who I have to fight or how far I have to go. You’re not just some mission to me.
You’re everything.”
Her eyes welled with tears again, and she leaned into my touch.
“I was so scared,” she whispered.
“I didn’t know if I’d ever see you again.”
“You will always see me,” I promised.
“Because I’ll always come for you. Every single time.”
