Chapter 132: Protecting What's Mine.

Alessandro’s POV

I gazed at her peaceful face as she slept beside me. The quiet room was filled with her gentle breathing.

Moonlight streamed through the window, casting a soft glow on her delicate features.

I reached out, lightly touching her cheek. How did I overlook her when she first entered my life? My pride and anger blinded me.

Aurora shifted closer, and my heart tightened. She was mine now, and I wouldn't take that for granted.

I feared this might all be a dream that I'd wake up and lose her. But I wouldn't let that happen. I'd protect, cherish, and love her as she deserved.

Now that I had her, I wouldn't let go.

I wrapped my arm tighter around her, feeling her warm body against mine.
She moved a little, opened her mouth, and let out a quiet breath before falling still again.
I smiled. Even in sleep, she had a way of making my heart race.
Lying there with her, I felt something shift inside me something deeper than just desire.
This was different. It wasn’t just about claiming her or winning her over Leonardo. It was about her.
About us.
I had never felt this way before. Sure, I had been with other women, but none of them had ever made me feel this.
This overwhelming need to hold, to protect, to love.
A sudden sense of responsibility weighed on me. This wasn’t just about passion. This was about something real. Something permanent.
I ran my fingers over her arm, lost in thought. My mind was worried about the future.
My father was still very sick. Leonardo was still a danger, waiting for a chance to hurt us.
And we still didn't know who was behind the attack.
But in this moment, none of that mattered.
All that mattered was the woman in my arms.
Aurora.
My mate.
My everything.
I leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead.
“Sleep, my love,”
I whispered against her skin.
“I’ll keep you safe. Always.”
She didn’t wake, but her body pressed closer, as if she heard me even in her dreams.
And as I held her in the quiet of the night, I knew one thing for sure whatever came next, I would fight for her.
Because she was worth it.
She was worth everything.
*****
In the morning, I woke up quietly so I wouldn't wake her. The sunlight came through the curtains and shone softly on her skin. She looked very beautiful and peaceful, and for a moment, I didn't want to get up and leave her.
But duty called.
I quickly got dressed, trying not to make any noise. Before I left, I looked back at her one more time.
My heart felt tight, knowing I had to leave without saying goodbye.
So instead, I grabbed a piece of paper from her desk and sat down, pen in hand.
Aurora,
I didn’t want to wake you, but I have duties to attend to this morning. Last night meant everything to me. More than I can even put into words.
I promise, this isn’t just a fleeting moment for me. You are mine, and I am yours. I will always stand by your side, no matter what.
Get some rest, my love. I’ll see you soon.
—Alessandro
I folded the letter and placed it gently on the pillow beside her.
I took one more look, then turned and left, closing the door quietly behind me.
As I stepped out into the hallway, the weight of responsibility settled back onto my shoulders.
The pack was still in chaos, and with father’s condition unstable, I needed to ensure everything remained under control.
When I got to the main hall, Rafael and Gabriel were already waiting.
“You’re finally here,” Gabriel muttered, arms crossed. “We need to talk.”
“Where were you last night? I checked your room but couldn’t find you.” Rafael asked, a look of suspicion on his face.
I kept my face expression neutral, though I could feel Rafael’s sharp look trying to pry into my thoughts.
“I was handling something important,” I replied smoothly.
“What’s going on?”
Rafael scoffed.
“Handling something?
That’s vague, even for you.”
Gabriel let out a frustrated sigh.
“Enough of that. We have bigger issues right now.”
He shot Rafael a look before turning back to me.
“The elders called for a meeting. They want to discuss leadership while Father recovers.”
I expected this, but hearing it out loud made my blood simmer.
“And let me guess, they want Leonardo to step in as temporary Alpha.”
Rafael nodded. “It’s obvious they’re leaning toward him.”
I clenched my jaw.
“We can’t let that happen.”
Gabriel crossed his arms.
“It’s not going to be easy, Alessandro. Father hasn’t officially named a successor, and Leonardo is still technically the eldest son.”
I ran a hand through my hair, feeling the weight of the situation pressing down on me.
“I don’t care if it’s not easy. I won’t let someone like Leonardo take over not when he’s reckless and unpredictable.”
Rafael smirked.
“And not to mention, he has it out for you now more than ever.”
I met his gaze, knowing exactly what he meant. Leonardo wasn’t just fighting for power he was out for revenge.
Gabriel sighed.
“The meeting is in an hour. We need to figure out a plan before we walk in there.”
I exhaled, my mind already racing with possibilities.
But even as I focused on the fight ahead, part of me wondered if Leonardo won this battle, what would that mean for Aurora?
I straightened my posture, pushing aside the thought of Aurora for now.
This was bigger than her and me this was about the future of the pack.
“We need to convince the elders that Leonardo is unfit to lead,” Rafael said firmly.
Gabriel nodded. “That’s easier said than done. Most of them still see him as the rightful heir.”
“Then we show them the truth,” Rafael chimed in, a sly grin forming.
“Leonardo is unpredictable, reckless, and unstable. We just need to remind them of that.”
I frowned. “We can’t just rely on his past mistakes. We need something concrete.”
Gabriel hesitated before speaking.
“What if we push for Father to make an official statement? Even if he’s weak, his word will carry weight.”
I considered it. Father’s health was fragile, but if we could get him to publicly name his successor, the elders wouldn’t be able to ignore it.
“Fine. I’ll go see him before the meeting.”
I turned to Rafael.
“In the meantime, keep an eye on Leonardo. If he does anything suspicious, we need to know.”
Rafael smirked. “Oh, trust me. That won’t take long.”
Gabriel exhaled. “We don’t have much time. Let’s move.”
As we split up, I felt the weight of what was coming. This wasn’t just about leading the pack.
This was about stopping Leonardo before he destroyed everything.
