Chapter 89: The Consequences of Choice.

Leonardo’s POV
I rushed toward the entrance door, ready to confront Alessandro about what I had just discovered, but Rafael stepped in front of me, blocking my path.
"Whoa, what the hell are you trying to do, brother?" he asked, raising a brow.
I clenched my fists, my anger boiling over. "Get the hell out of my way, Rafael!
I need to talk some sense into Alessandro!
How dare he try to steal my woman!"
I shoved against him, trying to push past.
Rafael didn’t budge. Instead, he scoffed, crossing his arms.
"Your woman? Seriously?"
Rafael let out a dry chuckle, shaking his head in disbelief.
"Last I checked, you were the one who threw her away," he said, his tone sharp.
"You denied her in front of Father. You chose duty over love. So tell me, Leonardo how is she still ‘your woman’?"
His words cut deep, but I refused to back down. My hands clenched at my sides as I glared at him.
"I had no choice!" I snapped.
"You don’t understand what’s at stake, Rafael.
This marriage, it’s bigger than just me!"
Rafael rolled his eyes.
"Oh, please.
Stop acting like you’re some kind of martyr.
The truth is, you were too scared to stand up for what you wanted. And now that Alessandro might have feelings for Aurora, you suddenly care again?"
My jaw tightened. "Alessandro doesn’t love her."
Rafael smirked. "Maybe not yet. But he’s not the one who broke her heart. You did."
I felt my chest tighten, a mix of guilt and fury twisting inside me.
"Get out of my way, Rafael," I warned, my voice low and dangerous.
He didn’t move. Instead, he leaned in slightly, his expression unreadable.
"Or what?" he challenged.
"You’re gonna fight me?
Or maybe you’ll run to Father and deny Aurora all over again?"
His words were like a slap to the face. I stood there, breathing heavily, my mind clouded with frustration.
Rafael let out a sigh and stepped aside.
"Go ahead, Leonardo. Go start another mess.
But just remember every choice has consequences."
I didn’t wait to hear more. Without another word, I stormed past him, my sights set on Alessandro.
******
When I saw him, I rushed toward him as he stood there talking with Aurora.
“Alessandro!” I called out, my voice filled with rage.
He turned to face me, but before he could say a word.
Pow!
My fist connected with his jaw, the force making him stumble back.
Alessandro staggered back from the force of my punch, his head snapping to the side.
Aurora gasped, stepping between us.
“Leonardo!
What the hell is wrong with you?!” she shouted, her eyes wide with shock.
Alessandro slowly turned back to face me, his jaw tightening as he wiped the corner of his mouth where my punch had landed.
He didn’t lash out. He didn’t even look angry, just disappointed.
“What was that for?” he asked calmly, his gaze locked onto mine.
I pointed at him, my chest rising and falling with anger.
“Stay the hell away from Aurora!
How dare you try to steal her from me!”
Aurora’s face twisted with disbelief.
“Steal me?” she repeated.
“Are you even listening to yourself?”
Alessandro let out a slow breath and crossed his arms.
“She’s not yours, Leonardo. She never was.”
His words hit me like a brick, but I refused to accept them.
“I love her!” I shouted.
Aurora shook her head, stepping closer.
“You love me?” she said, her voice trembling.
“Then why did you deny me in front of your father?
Why did you choose Lena over me?”
I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. I had no excuse no words to make up for what I had done.
Alessandro turned his head, studying me.
“You don’t get to punch me because of your own mistakes, brother.”
His voice was steady, unwavering.
“If you really love her, then prove it not with your fists, but with your actions.”
I clenched my jaw, my hands shaking at my sides. I had lost control. I had lost her. And now, I had no idea how to fix it.
"Listen, Aurora. I didn’t have a choice… My father… he put me in a tight spot and… I didn’t know—”
“You didn’t know how to get yourself out,” she cut me off, her voice sharp and full of disappointment.
Her eyes, once filled with love for me, now held nothing but pain.
“Leonardo, I actually thought you loved me. I thought you would fight for me.
But every time you say those words, you end up doing the exact opposite of what you promised.
Then you ended our relationship, saying you don’t love me anymore, and now you’re telling your brother that you love me?”
She scoffed, shaking her head.
“Who are you kidding, huh?
Do you think my heart is some kind of machine you can control?
Or a toy you can just mess around with?
I’m done trying to understand why you did what you did, Leonardo. Since you ended our relationship, I don’t think we have anything left to talk about.”
She turned to Alessandro.
“Let’s go.”
I stood frozen, my heart beating as Aurora’s words sliced through me like a blade.

“Aurora, wait.” I reached out, but she didn’t stop.

She didn’t even look back.

Alessandro, standing beside her, gave me a long, unreadable stare before placing a hand on her back, guiding her away.

I clenched my fists. My chest felt tight, like all the air had been sucked out of me.

This wasn’t how it was supposed to go. I had thought she would at least listen, that she would understand why I had done what I did. But she was done.

I watched as they walked away, side by side, Alessandro murmuring something to her, making her nod.

That sight alone made my blood boil. My own brother. My own mate. And I had lost them both.

Rafael’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

“Well, brother, that went about as well as I expected.”

I turned, my eyes dark with frustration.

“Shut up, Rafael.”

Rafael simply smirked.

“I told you, didn’t I?

You hesitated, and now she’s moving on.

And guess what?

Alessandro is right there, picking up the pieces you left behind.”

I exhaled sharply, running a hand through my hair. My mind was racing, emotions tangled in a storm of anger, regret, and desperation.

No. This wasn’t over. I wasn’t going to let Aurora go that easily.
