Chapter 202: A Father’s Plea, A Pack’s Secret
Alessandro’s POV
“I… I… I can explain, Alpha Tony… it’s not what you think. I… wasn’t actually going to—”
“You were going to banish my daughter!” Alpha Tony’s roar shook the walls, his voice vibrating with pure rage.
For the first time in my life, I watched my father, the mighty Alpha John shake.
His hands trembled at his sides, his eyes darting like a cornered wolf.
The man who had ruled this pack with an iron fist, who had never once bowed to anyone, stood powerless before Alpha Tony.
I clenched my fists at my sides, my heart pounding with a clarity I hadn’t felt in years. This was it.
This was the one chance I had to fight for Aurora and win.
Because I finally understood my father could never stand against Alpha Tony’s will.
And I was going to use that.
I turned, locking eyes with Aurora. Her face was pale, her lips parted in disbelief, her hands trembling in mine. I tightened my grip, lifting my chin.
“Alpha Tony,” I said firmly, “I love your daughter. And I will marry her. With or without my father’s blessing.”
The room fell silent. My father snapped his gaze toward me, fury flashing in his eyes, but he didn’t dare speak against me not now, not with Alpha Tony’s shadow looming over him.
Aurora gasped, her eyes glistening with shock.
Alpha Tony’s stare burned into me, sharp and unyielding. Slowly, his lips curved not into a smile, but into something darker, something calculating.
“You would defy your father… for her?” he asked, his voice low and dangerous.
“Yes,” I answered without hesitation, my voice steady. “I would defy the world for her.”
And in that moment, I swore to myself, nothing and no one would take Aurora from me. Not even my father.
Alpha Tony’s brow furrowed as he looked at me, then at Aurora.
“I came to take my daughter back to my pack,” he said slowly, his voice heavy with both authority and regret, “but what I didn’t realize is that she would have found her mate.”
Aurora’s hands trembled as she stepped forward, eyes blazing.
“Why have you come, father? After all these years… you show up and what?
That I would just pack my bags and follow you like a puppet?”
Alpha Tony shook his head, the weight of years etched on his face.
“Look, Aurora… I do not have any explanation for what I did in the past, but know this, I tried to get you back from your mother after she kidnapped you many years ago.”
I blinked in shock. “Wait… I don’t understand. What do you mean, my mother, April, kidnapped me and took me away from you?”
Alpha Tony sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair. “Let me explain.
Your mother was… not only a terrible woman, she was the worst mistake I have ever made.
After I banished her from the pack, she tried to undermine my reign as Alpha, and I did everything I could to stop her had the guards throw her out.
What I didn’t know… is that after I returned to your room, thinking you were asleep, I found your bed empty.
I ordered the guards to send a search party everywhere, but they couldn’t find you.
Only your little sweesy doll your favorite was found near the pack’s gate. That was when I knew your mother had taken you, and she never allowed me to see you.”
Aurora’s voice rose, trembling with fury. “So you left me with her?
Do you know what she put me through?
Do you know the men she married and how they treated me like dirt?
Do you know the countless nights I stayed awake, praying that you would come and take me away?
And all this time… you chose the pack over your own daughter?”
Alpha Tony’s shoulders sagged slightly, a rare vulnerability flashing in his eyes.
“Aurora… I did what I thought I had to do to protect the pack… to protect you, in my own way.
I… I thought I could find a way back to you later, but your mother… she wouldn’t allow it. I…”
Tears streamed down Aurora’s face as she shook her head, her anger and hurt palpable.
“So no words can justify what you did to me, Father.”
I clenched my fists at my sides, my chest tightening as I realized the weight of the years Aurora had suffered, the truth of her pain now finally laid bare.
Alpha Tony stepped closer, his voice low, almost pleading.
“Aurora… I know I failed you. But I am here now. I am here to make things right. Please… just hear me out.”
Aurora’s hands shook as she stepped back, trying to put distance between herself and her father, but Alessandro didn’t let go of her. His grip tightened around her hand, grounding her, giving her a silent strength she didn’t know she needed.
“You don’t understand, Father,” she whispered, her voice cracking.
“Do you even know what it was like to grow up without you? To watch other kids have fathers, to know you had a pack that could’ve protected me… but I was nothing to you.
I was invisible. Forgotten. Left to rot with her… with my mother.”
Her chest heaved with sobs, and her eyes glistened with raw pain.
“Do you know what it feels like to be alone in this world, knowing the one person who should have fought for you… never even tried?”
I felt her trembling under my hand and pressed a thumb against her knuckles.
“Aurora… it’s okay. I’m right here,” I whispered, keeping my voice low but firm. “You’re not alone anymore. Not ever again.”
She shook her head violently, tears slipping down her cheeks.
“Aurora, my little angel, I came here because I want to set things right. Please… let me, if it’s just this once.” Alpha Tony pleaded, his voice trembling.
Aurora didn’t say anything, only a flood of tears rushed down her face.
My chest tightened as I reached for her hand, holding it softly, grounding her as she stood frozen in the storm of her emotions.
Alpha Tony turned his gaze, sharp and bitter, toward my father.
“You were against my daughter marrying your son because you felt she had nothing to offer you,” he said harshly.
“When will you ever learn from your mistakes, Alpha John?
What happened between you and your brother, Raymond—I thought you would have learnt and changed.
But clearly, you are still the same stubborn man, standing on your own blind decisions.
Have you told them the real reason, you were chosen to be the Alpha instead of your brother, Raymond?”
His words cut through the air like blades. My head snapped toward my father.
“What is he talking about, Father?” I asked, confusion twisting in my chest.
Alpha John stiffened, his jaw tight, but he didn’t speak. He just stood there silent, almost… guilty.
“Father,” I pressed, my voice louder now, the weight of suspicion heavy in my chest.
“What is it that you are keeping from me? I demand to know.”
Alpha Tony let out a dark chuckle, though his eyes held no humor. He nodded slowly.
“Oh… so you haven’t told your son, huh?
You haven’t told him your deep, dark secret, Alpha John. Do you want to tell him?
Or should I?”
My heart pounded furiously in my chest. My grip on Aurora’s hand tightened as I stared at my father.
“What is he talking about, Father? What deep secret are you keeping from me?”
Still, Alpha John said nothing. His silence was louder than any words.
“ANSWER ME!”
