Chapter 32: Power Play.

Leonardo's POV

I ran to the elevator, hoping I could catch up with Aurora. I pressed the button repeatedly, willing the doors to open faster.

Finally, they slid open, and I stepped inside just as they were about to close. I breathed a sigh of relief as I selected the lobby button.

As the elevator descended, my mind was filled with thoughts of Aurora and our situation.

I knew we had to talk, to figure out our next move. Lena’s threats, Alessandro’s annoying actions and my father’s expectations weighed heavily on my mind.

The doors opened, and I rushed out into the lobby, looking the area for Aurora. But she was gone.

I sighed deeply. I walked out of the hotel and entered my car.

I started the engine and pulled out of the parking lot, looking the surrounding streets for any sign of Aurora.

But she was nowhere to be found. I tried calling her phone, but it went straight to voicemail.

“Has she gone back to the pack house?” I asked myself as I continued driving in the woods looking for her.

Then I decided that I should return to the pack house and see if she was there, so we could talk about what happened.

When I arrived at the pack house, I parked my car, locked it with the remote, and rushed inside, determined to find her.

However, I had something else to attend to first. I hastened towards the stairs, scanning the area for Alessandro, when it occurred to me that he might be in his room.

I quickly made my way to his room, my hand clenched into a fist. Without knocking, I barged in, fueled by anger.

Inside, I found Alessandro discussing something with Marcus, one of our beta's who handles pack affairs alongside him.

I stormed over to where they were standing and punched Alessandro in the face.

“You piece of shit!” I snarled.

Alessandro staggered back from the punch, surprise and anger flashing across his face.

“What the hell, Leonardo?” he growled, clutching his jaw in pain.

“You know exactly why I'm angry,” my fists clenched again.

"How dare you interfere in my private life, Alessandro? How dare you!"

I shouted, still fuming from the punch I had given him.

Alessandro, still reeling from the blow, turned to look at me with an unrepentant gaze.

"Ah... I see you got my present. Well, did you like it?" he sneered.

"You son of a bitch!"

I shouted, trying to punch him again, but Alessandro held my hand in a tight grip.

"Marcus, leave us," he ordered, his voice cold and authoritative.

Marcus looked at me uncertainly, then nodded and bowed before leaving the room, closing the door behind him with a loud bang.

After he left, Alessandro still holding my hand, spoke with an angry tone.

"You need to wake up, Leo.

Do you think I'm going to sit around and watch you and that... abomination destroy our family's legacy and reputation?

Never!"

He scoffed, his eyes blazing with contempt.

"Open your eyes and smell the breeze, Leonardo, because this is just the beginning. I won't stop until I break the two of you apart."

I tried to wriggle free from his grasp, but he held firm.

"You're not going to do anything, Alessandro," I snarled, trying to keep my temper in check.

"Aurora and I are mates, and nothing you do can change that."

Alessandro's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with malice. "Oh, but I can, Leo.

And I will. You see, I have something that will guarantee your separation. Something that will make you wish you never laid eyes on that... creature."

I pushed him away in anger. “Don't you dare call her a creature! She's your step-sister.”

He smirked, his expression unrepentant.

“Yes, exactly. She's my step-sister, and she should stay that way - not cause trouble.

But you see, ever since she came to this pack with her annoying mother, our Luna, she has been nothing but a pain in my flesh and a constant thorn in my side.”

I clenched my fists, trying to control my temper. “You're just jealous of her, Alessandro. Jealous that our father approves of her as his step daughter.”

Alessandro snorted. “Jealous? Of her?

Don't make me laugh. I'm just trying to protect this pack from her influence. And from yours, for that matter.”

I took a step closer, my eyes blazing. “You're not going to hurt her, Alessandro. I won't let you.”

Alessandro raised an eyebrow.

“Oh, I'm shaking in my boots. You think you can stop me, Leo?

I have the entire pack at my command. And soon, I'll have the power to do whatever I want.”

I growled, my wolf rising to the surface. “You'll never have that power, Alessandro. I'll make sure of it.”

Alessandro sneered, his eyes flashing with amusement. "We'll see about that, Leo.

You're no match for me. I have the upper hand, and I'll use it to destroy everything you hold dear."

I snarled, my wolf straining to break free. "You'll never destroy Aurora. She's under my protection, and I'll die before I let you harm her."

Alessandro chuckled, a cold, mirthless sound. "We'll see about that. You're so predictable, Leo.

You think you're the only one who can protect her? I have news for you, brother. I have something that will make her wish she never met you."

I took a step closer, my heart beating with fear. "What are you talking about?"

Alessandro's smile grew wider. "Oh, I think you'll find out soon enough. Let's just say that I have a little surprise waiting for you.

And when it's revealed, you'll be the one who's left wishing you never laid eyes on her."

I growled, my wolf rising to the surface. "You're going to regret this, Alessandro. I promise you that."

Alessandro just laughed, a cold, mischievous sound. "I'm shaking in my boots again, Leo.

Bring it on."

With that, he turned and walked away, leaving me seething with anger and fear.

I could hear his laughter echoing down the hallway, taunting me. What did he have planned? And how could I stop him?

Then an idea came to mind. I knew I needed to do something, anything to protect Aurora, and I knew just what I could do.

I ran out of Alessandro's room, my heart beating in my chest. I had to find a way to stop him before it was too late.

I rushed to our father's office, hoping to catch him before he left for the day. I burst through the door, out of breath and anxious.

"Father, I need to talk to you..
