Chapter 153: A Hidden Enemy

Alessandro’s POV

When we arrived at Annie's apartment, my heart sank. The door was open, like someone had broken in.

I pushed it open and felt sick. The apartment was a mess. Furniture was turned over, glass was shattered everywhere, and papers were all over the floor.

It looked like a fight had happened.

Leonardo came in behind me, his jaw clenched.

"They took her from here," he said quietly.

I didn't answer.

I was trying to figure out what had happened.

Where was Annie? Had they taken her too?

I took a deep breath and tried to stay calm. There had to be a clue to find Aurora.

I wasn't leaving until I found it.

I walked further into the apartment, my boots breaking the broken glass.

My heart was racing as I looked around the messy room, searching for any sign of Aurora or Annie.

"Annie?" I called out, my voice tight.

There was no answer.

Leonardo moved past me, his face dark and serious. He picked up a torn piece of fabric from the floor.

"This is Aurora's," he said quietly, his fingers closing around it.

I felt a deep growl in my chest as I got angry. Whoever did this had left in a hurry.

They took Aurora, and maybe Annie too.

Gabriel and Rafael arrived, looking shocked at the mess.

"What happened here?" Gabriel asked carefully.

"Whoever took Aurora came here first," I said, my teeth clenched.

Rafael picked up a crumpled paper near the table. His face got harder as he read it.

"What is it?" I asked.

He handed it to me, and as I unfolded it, my hands shook slightly. It was another message.

"You were warned. Give up, Alessandro. Or next time, she'll be dead."

I felt a chill down my spine. My grip on the note got tighter until it crumpled in my fist.

Leonardo breathed out sharply.

"Whoever is doing this is playing a dangerous game."

I turned to him my face angry.

“Whoever?

You mean you are the one playing games!

Where is she, Leonardo?!” I asked as I rushed and grabbed his collar.

Rafael and Gabriel quickly rushed at us to stop our fight.
Leonardo clenched his jaw, his hands gripping my wrists as I held him by the collar.
“I told you, I don’t know… I would never try to hurt Aurora. This isn’t me,” he growled, his voice firm.
My hands trembled with rage, but before I could say anything, Rafael and Gabriel stepped in, pulling us apart.
“Enough!” Rafael snapped.
“Fighting each other won’t bring Aurora back.”
I took a deep breath and tried to calm down, but my fists were still clenched.

My wolf was angry and wanted revenge. Leonardo fixed his shirt and ran his hand through his hair.

He looked frustrated and a little guilty.

"Then who is it?" I asked angrily.

Leonardo hesitated for a moment. I noticed.

"You know something," I accused.

Gabriel stepped forward.

"If you know anything, Leonardo, tell us now."

Leonardo sighed heavily.
“The thing is….. after I found out that you and Aurora kissed….I was devastated and so I went to the bar and drank till I almost dropped…”
I rolled my eyes, clearly not interested in the whole story.
“Just get to the point and stop beating around the bush, Leonardo.”
Rafael spoke. “Come on, Alessandro, let us hear him out, alright?”
Leonardo ran a frustrated hand through his hair, his jaw tightening.
“I was drunk, okay?
I barely remember half the things that happened that night.
But I do remember someone approaching me… a woman.”
I furrowed my eyes.
“A woman?”
He nodded.
“She sat next to me, started talking about how I was worthy of becoming the Alpha and that Alessandro didn’t deserve it.
At first, I didn’t buy into it or even care, but her words started cutting deep as I thought about everything you took from me.
Then she handed me an address and said that if I went there, someone would be waiting for me.”
I furrowed my eyes at him.
“And did you go?”
Leonardo hesitated for a moment before nodding.
“Yes. I was drunk and angry. I wasn’t thinking straight.”
Rafael crossed his arms. “Where was this place?”
Leonardo exhaled sharply. “It was an abandoned house on the outskirts of town. When I got there, a man with a cloak was waiting for me.
I couldn’t see his face, but his voice sounded familiar, but I just couldn’t pin point where I have heard the voice before.
The man spoke about how he wanted to help me become Alpha and how he wanted to remove Alpha John from power permanently, and how the pack needed a new leader.”
He clenched his jaw.
“He told me that If I was serious about taking my rightful place, he would help me.”
I felt my blood boil. “And you listened to him?”
Leonardo nodded his head. “Yes. I did. I mean, I had so many reasons to.
Our father took the most important thing from my life because he wanted me to stick to duty and all.
I had many reasons to want our father out of the way for me to become the Alpha.”
I scoffed. “That’s where you are always wrong, Leonardo. Father never took Aurora away from you.
You always chose to keep her a secret and not reveal her to Father many times, and so you lost her by being a coward.
So don’t blame Father for your actions.”
Gabriel, who had been quiet, finally spoke.
“So you poisoned Father to end his reign?
How could you do such a thing, Leonardo?
He is our father!”
Leonardo sighed.
“I was angry, and I felt… I needed to win Aurora back by any means necessary… I didn’t know things would go this way.”
Rafael clenched his fists. “You let your jealousy and anger blind you, Leonardo.
And now, look where it’s gotten us!
Father is fighting for his life, Aurora is missing, and the pack is on the brink of chaos!”
Leonardo lowered his gaze, guilt flashing across his face.
“I know… I never wanted it to turn out like this. I just… I just wanted a chance.”
I shook my head, my anger barely contained.
“A chance? You destroyed everything for a selfish dream.
And now, because of your foolishness, Aurora is in danger!
You better start talking, Leonardo. Who gave father that poison?
Who is that woman?
Who told you to go to that address?”
Leonardo hesitated, his jaw tightening.
“I… I don’t know her real name. She never told me.
But she had this presence cold, calculating. She knew exactly what to say to get into my head.”
I stepped closer, my hands curling into fists.
“Describe her.”
He sighed, rubbing his temples.
“She had silver hair… piercing green eyes. She carried herself like she had all the power in the world.”
My heart kept beating in my chest. That description… it felt familiar. Too familiar.
Gabriel’s face darkened.
“Silver hair and green eyes… Alessandro, that sounds like—”
“I know,” I interrupted, my voice sharp.
“And if it’s who I think it is, then we’re running out of time.”
Leonardo’s eyes widened.
“Who is she? Who is this woman?”
I didn’t answer. Instead, I turned on my feet and stormed toward the car.
“We’re going to that address. Right now.”
Leonardo, Rafael, and Gabriel exchanged uneasy glances before following me.
One thing was clear whoever had taken Aurora had planned this for a long time.
And I would burn down the entire world before I let them take her from me.
