Chapter 26

LUNA POV

I saw how Hector disappeared as he walked away. The main gate closed and I was left with Hector’s father in this garden. Hector’s confused look puzzled me. I wonder what was in his mind. I tried to gather myself as I wiped the tears from my eyes. I need to be strong for myself. Hector was gone, I was left to defend myself from what might happen tonight. His mission was done and he doesn’t have a reason to return for me.

I look at Simon King, who is scanning my face. This is the right time to talk to this man. I need to know the reason for all of these.

I tried to clear my throat.

"What do you need from me?" I asked him.

"You are very special, didn't your parents tell you before?" I saw him smirk.

"Of course, I am special. They always told me that because I am their daughter," I responded with confidence.

"I've been waiting for you, Luna. You will complete my plans. You will help me succeed." he said.

"What are you talking about? I am just a simple human. I am not a werewolf. I don't have powers or magic," I told him.

"You are very innocent my lovely Luna. You never know how special you are," he said as he walked closer to me.

"Just tell me what you need from me. I want this over." I shouted.

"Yes, we will do this faster. The moon is shining now. It's time to sacrifice you and your blood." his voice was creepy.

I want to jump out of my skin after what I heard from him. He was going to sacrifice me and my blood. So this is not just greet and meet ceremony. This is a sacrifice ceremony. What the hell!

I was left frozen in my place, I don't know what to do.

"So you are going to kill me?" I yelled.

"Yes, your death will bring my strength back and my pack will return to its glory," he announced as he look at the moon.

"You are a crazy old man. I will never allow you to sacrifice me for your bullshit!" I cried.

I saw him pull out something from his coat. I braced myself for what might come next as I saw that it was a knife. So this crazy man is really serious about killing me. Lucas is right. Hector's family is the real enemy, they are not here to save me but to kill me.

I remember Lucas, he gave me a knife and it is with me. He said I can use this knife to protect myself from this old monster.

"The time has come Luna. Let power be mine!" he shouted looking at the moon.

Hector, I remember Hector. He took me and brought me to his father. Took care of me and protected me many times for his own desires and ambitions to be the next alpha. He cared for me so that I will not die in the hands of his enemies but I will die in the hands of his own father.

Tears fell from my eyes as I remember him.

Simon King approached and I tried to run. He reached for my arm and I was able to fight him but my strength was not enough. I was given the opportunity to get the small knife that Lucas gave me. It is here in my pocket. I aimed the small knife at Simon but he was able to avoid it. Simon punched me in the face and I accidentally let go of the knife from my hand. I tried to set myself free from his strong grip but I was surprised when I saw his right arm shift into a wolf. His claw reached my arm and it burned in pain. I almost fainted as I felt my blood drip. I started to feel weak.

"Surrender yourself, Luna. Die peacefully" he said.

I saw him grab the knife and he is approaching me.

I swallowed hard, is this how I am going to die?

He reached for my neck and squeezed it. I felt my oxygen coming to an end. He raised the knife as he prepared himself to stab me.

"Riya le vu. Mi ne vor a rus la luna. Tri me sen di vern al se de Sangre," I heard him utter those unfamiliar words.

He was about to stab me in my chest when I heard a growling sound. Suddenly I fell to the ground as I felt a force that hits Simon on his back.

I tried to look around to see a wolf.

Hector, Maybe it was Hector. My visions are as blurry as the pain striking in my arm. The wounds caused by Simon were deep and my body started to feel numb.

The wolf come into view, I was expecting to see a grey wolf but to my surprise, it was a big black wolf.

It was the alpha wolf that attacked us in the forest. Oh, no, it was here to kill me.

I tried my best to sit as I started to feel dizzy. The black wolf attacked Simon and he was thrown to the side opposite me. I tried to move as pain embraced my arm, I want to scream in pain. I felt wet as the blood continue to drop from my arms.

Simon King tried to defend himself as his other arm shifted into a wolf form. I wonder why he can't completely shift into a wolf.

His strength is not enough to take the Alpha down. The black wolf lunged at him and burned its teeth on his shoulders. The old man screams in pain.

My stomach was twisting as I witnessed this scene.

I heard a loud howl from outside the main gate. Maybe the wolves sensed that the enemy was here.

I tried to stand as my feet trembled. I saw the black wolf slowly approaching in my direction. I steady myself as I prepare for my death.

The wolf will attack me, I am sure of that.

The wolf suddenly stopped and it bowed down. It slowly shifted into a human form.

I was stunned as the man stand. I recognize him, his handsome face, his fire-like eyes, and well built-body. It was Lucas.

It makes sense, Lucas was the alpha. That is the reason he was helping me.

He shared a worried look as he looked down at my wounded arm.

I was frozen in place as he reached for me and hugged me tightly.

"Luna, I will shift again. Ride on my back. We need to get out from here." he said.

"Lucas, you...” I was lost for words after I witnessed his shift.

"Trust me, Luna. I am here to save you," he told me.

I nodded as tears continue to flow from my eyes.

"Why are you helping me?" I asked him.

"Because I need to," he said as he shift back into his wolf form.

I tried to move to ride on his back. I remember the last time I did this was when I was with Hector.

My heart was breaking as I remember him. How I wish it was him who is here with me.

Lucas' wolf jumped on the rocks and into the woods. The trees are very big but I can still see the surroundings as the moon gives light.

His wolf runs for a few minutes. I can see he was fast. I tightened my hold in his fur. The wound is hurting me so much, it was crawling all over my body. Lucas noticed me and he stopped by a big tree.

He shifted back into his human form to help me sit.

"Are you alright Luna? Your wound is deep," he said.

"It's fine Lucas. Don't worry, I can handle this." My voice is cracking.

The pain was tormenting me. I want to pass out.

"Why are helping me, Lucas?" I asked him again this question.

Lucas touched my chick and looked straight into my eyes. His eyes were deep and full of mystery.

"Luna, I'm here to help and protect you, because I'm your mate," he said.
